"It was a pleasure to meet you too," Lore called back before heading out.

He smiled down at Skye, it reminded him hearing that from her just how much she had grown and how long she had known her. Even though it wasn't technically a long time, he was very well aware he had been around since Skye had existed.

"I know you are."

Skye smiled proudly and hummed a tune - an actual, real tune - as she skipped down the mountain beside Lore.

Lore blinked as he listened to her, it was exactly on pitch and at the right tune and she did have a pretty voice, but for the life of him he couldn't figure out how she did it. She was, after all deaf, and it was a wonder if she understood what she was humming.

"Where did you learn that?" he looked at her so she could feel him.

Skye looked up at Lore and her smile widened.

"Lore like?" she asked brightly. "Skye learn! Long time, but Skye learn! Skye teach Lore?"

Teach him how she learned, she meant, because she knew that if he wanted to he could learn the tune on his own easily.

"Not hard," she added. She had never figured out why everyone else found it so difficult to feel the differences that different vibrations made.

"Okay," Lore couldn't say no to Skye.

Not when she really was happy about it, and she should be how many deaf children could hum a real tune and make it sound like music? That in itself was a feat, it would have been one thing if she could play a musical instruement for there were deaf people who did, but to hum?

"I'd like that," he smiled.

Skye's wings fluttered happily, and she raised one hand and beckoned with it.

"Come, Lore!" she smiled. "Sit! Come sit! Skye teach Lore hmm-hmm!"

Lore chuckled a bit as he found a good place in the grass to sit, after all they weren't in any hurry and it wasn't like anyone else was going to know that they were coming back.

He held out his arms towards her, "Is that's what it's called?"

Skye giggled and crawled into Lore's lap, where it would be the easiest for her to teach him She found it interesting that she was teaching him for once, when so often it was he who taught her.

"Hand here," she instructed, taking one of his hands and putting it against her own throat, making sure that his fingers were positioned in the right places. "Ready?"

Lore put a hand gently against her throat, so this was why she always did that as a child and still did. Though they had guessed that, this was the first time he was really putting that knowledge into action, even though he didn't have anywhere near the amount of sensitivity as she did.

"Ready."

Skye hummed a few notes of various pitches, then grinned. "Feel?" she asked brightly. "Up, down, up, down, here ..." She brushed one of his fingers against her throat, where her breathing tube was located inside, then moved his fingers slightly to the side.

"And here," she added. "Tight, not, tight, not ... feel?"

And she put his fingers back in the right places and hummed again.

Though he could now understand what she was referring to (and thought her of as a very bright girl for figuring this out by herself), Lore still relied heavily on his hearing, since he couldn't apply it to himself.

He could feel, but since he couldn't feel as well how his own voice worked, what it meant didn't mean as much, but he could hear, and he listened as carefully as he could. Humming back as he heard it.

Skye saw that Lore was trying to hum along with her, and she put her own hand against his throat, placing her fingers carefully in the same places where she had placed his on hers. As she felt his throat movements and felt his vibrations, she broke into a wide smile, then clapped her hands excitedly.

"Lore do too!" she squealed. "Lore do good! Just like Skye!" She threw both of her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, her wings fluttering wildly.

Of course, not knowing what sound was, she had no idea that that was how he was copying her, rather than the way she was trying to teach him.

Lore smiled holding her gently though a bit tightly hugging her back, "You are a very good teacher," he murmured softly against her.

He wondered how much she understood how the vibrations worked, like the way sound did, probably not but ah well.

Skye felt the vibrations, but she didn't know what Lore had said. She let go of him and sat down in his lap again, looking up at him with serious blue eyes, and positioned her hand once more against her throat.

"Say 'gain," she requested - then, politely, "Please."

Lore leaned against her hand a bit as he signed with both of his hands since he was doing more than spelling something.

"You are a very good teacher," he explained.

He still hoped to have sign language as a means she could fall back on just in case.
