Alyx reached into his inventory and produced a brilliant gemstone. Casting the shining crystal at the boar, he felt confident that they would get amazing loot from this. As the glowing red corpse was struck, it was exploding, and each of the crystal shards became a prismatic spray of light. The dazzling shards sang as they traveled through the air, and, in lieu of flying straight back at their origin point, they exploded outward in every direction, multiplying in number as they disintegrated. The pathway was filled with a fine mist of iridescent particles, spiraling around the point of the boar's death like a galaxy of brilliant intensity. Slowly at first, and then more quickly, the spiraling cloud began to converge on its nexus, forming into a shape Alyx was at best not expecting, and at worst not even able to comprehend. "Uh... Rota?" Alyx took a deep breath and released it slowly. "We got this."

Rota could hardly believe his eyes. What stood before him could only be called a boar in form only. Its entire being was not filled of light like a normal entity, but rather COMPRISED of light. It glowed every color of the spectrum, and its true features were imperceptible.Only the basic features of the boar were visible to the demon warrior, any further details or embellishments were bathed in too much light. He started to chuckle, which became laughter, which culminated in raucous and deep guffaws. This was the kind of challenge he was waiting for. If only he had saved his flames for this thing instead of wasting them on that measly golden thing. No matter. Alyx seemed to have its attention, so he aimed a stab at where its midsection would be if this thing was solid to any degree. This would be the time to figure that out.

Alyx intercepted the creature's --it could hardly be called a boar at this point-- attack completely, even as he batted it against the face to piss it off. Hopefully he wouldn't come to regret that. He kept an eye on its healthbar, though, as Rota struck it without any distractions. He did not perceptibly see the bar change. This thing had so much health --or so much damage reduction-- that Rota hadn't visibly moved its health with that attack. Alyx realized that they were in for a fight. A fight the likes of which they had not seen in a very long time. And, for the first time, Rota would be present for one of the utterly insane things that Alyx did to pass the time. This fight had the potential to be an even more insane battle than his first fight with the Gloomqueen. But he'd be damned if he didn't finish it.

Rota had struck the thing, but he couldn't tell if he had done ANYTHING to this creature. He finally felt well enough to start letting loose again, at least for a little bit. If he was going to do this, he needed to really wail on it harder than he had done in a long time. Rota's blade glowed a bright red as it gained its aura blade covering. The twin blades sang a hymn of death as he whirled the blade from 1:00 to 7:00 positions in record time, the aura sword trailing behind despite how close to the blade it should be at the intensity that it was. Rota was not screwing around any more.

Alyx had switched to offense just in time to catch the creature off of its game, and managed to get a hard hit in while it was planning its next move. He and Rota punished its indecision with vicious offense, but it wasn't enough. They hardly changed its hit points with this attack, either, and, even though it was poisoned, it wasn't showing any visible signs of wear. That meant that this wasn't armor. This was just so much health that the thing was untouchable. He laughed and readied his arm for another strike. This was going to be fun. With nothing else to do, Alyx decided on stacking as much poison as was possible on this thing. And he could stack quite a bit these days.

There was no telling how if or how big of a dent Rota had made, but it forced the warrior to resort to drastic measures. he had been saving a couple items for a rainy day, and now was the time to let 'em loose. He stabbed his sword into the ground and pulled a sealed tankard from an inside pouch in his cloak. He broke the seal and knocked it back with some degree of pleasure. He had always liked the flavor of butterscotch, and it complemented this drink well. They'd finally managed to knock its health down enough to see that it could in fact be wounded. So they now knew that this was a winnable fight. Alyx sheathed Gloomfang and took a page out of Rota's book, leaping away to put a little distance between himself and the enemy, and throwing back a strawberry brew, savoring the feeling of warmth that spread through his body. "Oh yeah. That's the stuff." Alyx locked his eyes on the boar and drew his blade once more, preparing for battle. They were going to destroy this thing.

As Rota saw the boar actually react to damage for the first time, he heard a cosmic roar as it began to rain light like its previous form. Alyx had taken the light storm like a champ, his armor shrugging off the orbital strike like it was only slightly terrifying. Alyx wanted that attack. But he had more important things to deal with right now. Like that massive, luminescent ragebeast that he had spawned for his own sick pleasure. Alyx considered the possibility that he'd created the most powerful monster in the entire game because he was bored, and he was forced to concede that it sounded about like something he would do. If someone accused him of it, he would have no valid defense. But still, this was awesome.

Despite getting smacked by that beam of light for real this time, Rota had done a sizeable hit to the boar...in theory. He still had no idea ho much he would ACTUALLY need to smack this sow, but he was going to continue doing so anyways. His blade had not loosed its aura since he had unveiled it, and it was time to use it yet again. He let go of Croire now that she was no longer in any danger, and aimed a slash horizontally across its flank. This should harm it pretty well...again, in theory. He would not give up on this though. He had bested every boar that was presented to him, including every form of this one. He would not back down and let this particular one get the better of him, no matter how seemingly indestructible it seemed.

Alyx and Rota hammered the brilliant monstrosity, striking it with what had to be the largest amount of damage ever dealt to a single creature in the entire history of the game, but it still didn't shake the creature. This thing was unbelievable. What were they supposed to do in the face of such overwhelming amounts of hit points? They were dealing damage at the highest possible rate they could manage, and it was still in the top ten percentile of its health bar. They might not be taking too much damage, but there didn't seem to be any way to speed this ordeal up. Alyx decided that their best course of action was to just keep on keeping on. He charged another double strike, praying that his poison damage could build up to a noticeable level.

Alyx was noticing the spots where the monster's eyes were supposed to be beginning to drift away from him. It was losing its focus. So he needed to switch back to the offen-defensive. This barrage of blows that he was raining was starting to take its toll on his reserves, though. He could only keep it up for a little while longer, and, without being able to rest and regain AP, he was going to be in for a hard fight when he was no longer able to hold the creature's aggro. Alyx had to start weighing his offense with his defense, and make sure to keep enough in the reserves to really buckle down if things started to get weird. If this all started to go sideways, he needed to be able to make sure that Rota could get out. They had no idea what this beast was truly capable of, and Alyx didn't want the discovery to be one that he made with his blind side.
