Maybe somehow Belladonna had gotten to The Voice for now when it rang in her mind it sounded almost desperate. Like she was actually getting somewhere and it was trying to stop her. I already have what I want in the real world. So unless you wanna give me that back, I'm good, thanks. A pause as she hustled up more stairs. Actually. Every step seemed to take forever! Sun's world had narrowed down to the next step. If there was one thing to be said for being deaf and dumb, it was that it was very easy to focus on a goal.
And there was the Voice again! After an interminable length of silence, the shout was deafening. Yet... was the climb becoming easier? Or was it that the Voice had less sway over her? She wondered if those who'd proceeded her were weakening the Voice.

Moriko paused a moment as the voice spoke once more. It wanted to know what she would gain, said that she would only find disappointment. And yet it was trying to keep something from her. If there was nothing at the top of the tower it wouldn't continue to try to send her away, to discourage her. No, she doubted that she would be disappointed. Perhaps others might, but Moriko, at the very least, needed to settle her curiosity over the matter even if she couldn't protect Sigrun.

Moriko looked back to Sigrun and gave her a warm smile and a nod as she took her last step to the top of the tower. She didn't know what was about to happen, or what awaited in this next level. But she knew that she might not ever see or talk to her friend again. She took her friend's hand and gave it one last encouraging squeeze as she made her way onto the next floor. [Exit]

The conversation seemed to give the faerie some weird power burst as she continued to sail up the stairs, totally ignorant of the wings on her back that could have speed up the process. She wasn't this mythical creature, not this kind at least, so she wanted to do this on her own. Still, she was making pretty good time as it were.

There was an echo of an old promise. They faced death a lot in their line of work. He thought he was facing death now, facing the beyond, but if beyond that- it didn't matter. He'd see them both again. No matter the place, no matter the distance, no matter the cost.

Sun climbed higher, and had the strangest vision. A flash of a different set of stairs. It was rickety, swayed in the wind, and there was a wealth of green behind them. Even within her mind, the colors nearly blinded her. She reached after it, but was gone. What was that? Was that from the other Sun?
Blinking away the afterimage, Sun continued.

Maple watched with baited breath when Urur came up the stairs having finally passed that dreaded level. Was he going to be angry with her? Sad? Torn?
She couldn't even explain to him, or answer any questions he might have had. But perhaps in her sad eyes he would find any confirmation, that yes.. it was the Truth. That their lives had been a dream. But, hopefully her soft smile would tell him everything would be alright.
She continued, pressing a light touch on his shoulder and moving on.
But still the stairs kept on going, up and up and up and up. Are you possibly trying to drive us made? Give up a whirlwind of stairs and hope we give up the fight? You should really know better, especially since you claim to have created us. She needed to talk to someone, alright...

There were others climbing around her. Sun glanced at them, but they were absorbed in the climb. Still, it was nice to know someone was there, even if she couldn't hear them. It was so quiet!

It sounded good in theory, to be a King and have the power like the others had had. Imryn didn't know who she had been taken from, what their life was or if they would be better off staying here and being a King. But so far thing hadn't turned out good, and all these promises turned up empty. She wanted answers, so there was no point in stopping until they all got some.
