Earendil smiled at Lin, perhaps a bit awkwardly, but when she drew near he put one arm around her shoulder and hugged her gently.

"Good morning," he murmured. "Now that I'm awake enough to know what I'm saying." He chuckled softly. "I went in to say good night to you last night as well, but you and Miyuki were both asleep."

He held one hand out for the brush so that he could brush Miyuki's hair.

"What I don't understand," Earendil chuckled, looking at the brush, "is how she has so much energy if she only fell asleep because she was tired. Unless she fell asleep earlier than I think."

Which was possible.

He released Lin, and sat on the bed beside Miyuki. "All right, now, you have to tell me if I'm doing it all right," he smiled at her as he began to brush her hair gently. "I've never done this before."

Earendil blinked. "Oh," he said, not really knowing what else there was to say. "Okay."

He shifted a bit so that there was a bit more space between him and Miyuki's tails to make it easier to brush them, and began to carefully brush them out. He was going to have to shake out his blanket and sheets later on, but that was fine.

"Ah, well," Earendil smiled. "It makes sense when you think about it. I guess I just hadn't thought about it before." He laughed softly.

Soon enough he was finished with Miyuki's tails, and he held the brush out to Lin. "We should head to the galley for some breakfast," he suggested. "It's our first day at sea. I'm sure Miyuki will have a lot of questions later on."

And though he didn't say it, he was implying that perhaps they would need all the energy they could muster for when she got bored and needed looking after a bit more actively. Especially him, since he hadn't gotten nearly enough sleep.

Earendil chuckled and nodded. "Yes, we're going to eat now," he told her with a grin. "Come on."

He turned his back to her and knelt down. "Up you go!" he grinned. "We're off to the galley for some food, and then you!" He chuckled softly. "Have some lessons to go through."

Earendil stood up and hefted Miyuki on his back to that she was steady. "Well, that depends," he replied. "Your mama would have something planned, I'm sure - though I don't know what it is. You'll have to ask her what she has planned for you."

He brought her out to the hallway and waited for Lin to come back out from her and Miyuki's room.

Earendil chuckled. "She was eager. But I'm not sure what plans you have for her for today, so I couldn't tell her that. Either way, I'm sure Arwen's got some food ready for us, she did help with unloading but she went to sleep a bit earlier than the rest of us."

He had to rub a bit of sleep from his eyes again, but he had to use his shoulder since his hands were busy with holding Miyuki.

"Ah!" Earendil beamed as they headed up to the main deck. "That's something I can help with, too! And you're right, she is going to need it on Amon Darthir, that's the only language they speak, except for the handful that are from the Borderlands."

Aerin, Caranthir, Elros and Rhea. And he was sure Aurin Striate would still know at least a bit of the Common Tongue. He probably didn't use it much, but he would probably retain a bit of it.

"I wonder if Amalirahc knows it yet," Earendil added thoughtfully. "If not, he and Miyuki can learn it together."
