"Did I?" Lucky asked, her eyes filled with tears threatening to overflow. "Then why does it hurt so much?"

"Sometimes the right choice hurts. But it will go away eventually, Lucky."
Zukon pulled out his katanas, lighting them once they were out of their sheaths. He yelled and charged the first tree he saw, then remembering Lucky, fell down on his knees and put the fires out.

The girl fell to the ground and pulled her knees up to her chest. She'd never in all her life experienced something like this. It was pain, it was loneliness, it was anguish... She closed her eyes against it all but all she saw was the look on Zukon's face as he left. "I hurt him, didn't I, Daddy? After he was so sweet and kind and good to me, I hurt him..."

Sunchaser held her in a tight hug. "Shh...He's strong...he'll get over it too."
It started out as a growl, but moved into a yell and Zukon raked his hooves along the grass, singeing the grass where they went.

"What do you mean?" Lucky asked paling. "He'll forget me? You think he'll forget me?" That would be worse than him leaving. He'd forget about her? When she was having trouble breathing without him it terrified her to think that he could just forget about her. That he could replace her with another girl who would run away with him... Lucky started sobbing.

"You never forget your first love, Lucky. He won't forget you. But he will move on. Maybe not for a long time, but he will. Just like you will."
"Why was I so stupid?" He pounded the ground, yelling his questions at it, "Why didn't I just sit there and take what I had?!"

"But I don't want to!" she cried. "I didn't want him to go!" She looked up at her father still sobbing, "This has never happened to me before. Everything's always worked without a problem...but now. I hurt so much..."

"How will he know you want him to come back? Did you tell him?" Sunchaser hated watching his daughter cry, hated it even more that he'd been part of the reason why she was. He drove them to this...but a parent had to be firm, didn't they?

"I didn't tell him to leave and he did..." she said choking back a sob. "I didn't want him to go..."

"You can sit here and hope he comes back, or you can go find him. I don't think it will be hard. Just look for the first cloud of smoke you see."

"I can go find him?" she blinked back her tears. "I want to find him and I want to be with him, but I don't want to upset you and Mother."
