The doctor frowned. "How does he know about morphine? Was he a village doctor?" he said to Merlyn.
Merlyn nodded. "Yessir. Very respected. I don't think he knows his herbs to well, though. I think that he's going to spit up to much blood..." she said quietly.
The doctor patted her shoulder. "How do you know him?"
"He's a very loyal subordinate of mine. I don't want to lose my pawns," she said, in refence to chess.
The doctor nodded. "Well, he's not having an algergic reaction. He's just, as the Pre-Blackout Americans said, high. Or doped up. He'll be fine in a few hours. Just let him have plently of down time and water."
Merlyn smiled. "Thanks, Doc."

Mathius quickly fell asleep fitfully...He began to cough out a little bit of blood and kept speaking in tongues...

Merlyn sat at the chair next to him. "Now now, Mathius," she said in a low whisper. "My board can't have it's king going all out, can it? That's how I lost my rook..."
Matt put his hand on her shoulder. "Maybe I should leave you two alone for a bit?" he said.
Merlyn grabbed his hand. "Yes, please, Big Brother." She looked up at him.
Matt nodded. He left the tent and went to his own tent.

Merlyn shook her head, and put her finger on his lips. "It doesn't have to make sense to you. Don't talk, you little doped up Private!!" she said. She took it off and smiled. She leaned back in her chair and pulled down her hat down over her eyes. "While you try, I'm going to get some shut eye."

Mathius smiled as she put her warm fingers on his lips..."Thank you, for not telling them...about my sight..."He turned his head sideways and fell asleep...

Merlyn woke up with a start. She had a dream featuring one of her most loyal, but dead, subordinates. His name was Benjimen Jones. He had been walking her through the battle fields, then turned and stabbed her. Her breathing was normal, but she could tell that it wasn't a very normal dream. She looked over at Mathius. So, my rook is dead, my pawns are taken, my bishop is wavering, my knight is on the other side of camp, and my king is doped up...she thought.

Kale slowly opened his eyes.
What time is it? he wondered as he looked around.
Wait. This isn't my room. Where the hell am I?
He immediately jumped out of the makeshift bed, a few boxes with some pillows on top of them, and onto the cold floor.

Mathius slowly opened his eyes near simultaneous to Merlyn's...He slowly turned his head towards her...He smiled...as he spoke softly..."I cannot believe you have stayed here the entire time...wait, what time is it."He slowly sat up and put his legs over the edge of the bunk...

Kale looked around. There was a door across the room, but it was locked from the outside. He sat in the room waiting for what ever was going to happen
(wait, if there is no electronics, how am i gonna get you guys to rescue me? eek )
