After nearly tripping over another ledge, the two stopped by a random tree to take a break.
"Torchic. Chic, tor-torch?"
"Oh, this? Oh yeah...these were the Leftovers dad gave me. He said that they help in battle. I guess you should hold them." Cat held out the item for her Torchic. The fire-bird took it in her beak, then looked at her trainer as if asking what exactly they were supposed to do. "Hey, I don't know. Dad gave them to me..."
"Tor." Torchic set the Leftovers down on the ground, prodding them gently with her clawed foot. "Torchic, torch chic-chick-torch. Torchic...?"
"I don't know how you're supposed to hold it in battle!" Cat exclaimed, looking at the little bit of food in front of them. "But no, I don't think you're supposed to eat it. I guess we'll just find out in our next battle, won't we?"
"Tor-chic..."
"Don't act so worried. You'll do fine. You can roast all the competition!"

She walked somewhat slowly toward the train which would take her to Kanto, noticing some people boarding. Turning her head, she could see her house in the distance, and for a split second she considered dashing towards it and into her the arms of her mother. No, she thought to herself. I must meet her... perhaps then my questions will be answered.
She took off her backpack and pulled out a small red-and-white ball, which she looked at for a moment. She threw it out in front of her and an odd, ghostlike creature came out of it as the ball flew back into her hand. She stored it in her backpack and put it back on as the ghost floated up near her right shoulder. Nina, you look troubled. What is the matter? Nina heard the voice in her head and responded with a quiet and almost distant tone of voice. "It is nothing, do not worry. I am simply distracted with many thoughts." The ghost tilted its head. All right... but if there is anything you wish to tell me... Nina nodded slightly. "I know."
She glanced toward the train. "Shall we be off, Misdreavus?" The ghost nodded its head. Yes Nina. The train is not going to wait for us. Another nod from Nina, and she and Misdreavus boarded the train, taking the first seat they could find that was somewhat away from other people.

"So shall we head off?" Ren asked her Dratini.
Dratini nodded in reply and went in its pokeball. Ren gathered her belongings and went back on the trail. The wind was blowing gently and there was a blue sky. This day seemed almost perfect. In Ren's mind, she was thinking that this day is too perfect. While walking, she suddenly stopped dead in her tracks. She ended back in Pallet Town!
"Oh no..." said Ren, "and I was already half-way to Viridian City. I knew something was wrong with this day."

mitsuko_chan Wild Oddish appeared! Level: 5 Attacks: Absorb. Items Held: None. "Oh my gosh. It's an Oddish!! It's adorable!! Torchic, get it!!" Cat was practically prancing around with glee. The Torchic poked her Leftovers once more, glancing at the grass pokemon.

Ren stood in front of the entrance to Pallet Town. She sighed and decided to take a rest at Prof. Oak's lab.

Mitsu awited to help the fallen trainer.
"Feh, I'm going to look around I'll be back Mitsu, stay here." Ken said with a bit of aggravation in his voice.
"C'mon Pidgy, lets go." The Pidgy gave out a small cry and hopped up onto Ken's shoulder.

"Hmm...okay, Torchic, use Scratch!!" Torchic trotted over and scratched at the Oddish. The grass pokemon took the attack, but hopped back up and rammed into the fire-bird with a Tackle. After getting back up, Torchic used a Sand Attack on command from her trainer.
"What?!" Cat snorted as the Oddish dodged the attack. It waddled over and rammed into Torchic again, knocking her off balance. The fire pokemon got up again, after a "Scratch!!" from Cat.

Nina had dozed off on the train ride and was abruptly woken up when the train came to a sudden stop. She was flung off of her seat and onto the floor; it took her a moment to drowsily get up and realize what was happening. We have arrived, Nina, said Misdreavus. "I... yes... so we have..."
Nina brushed herself off and exited the train at the end of a queue of other people. Stepping out onto the soil of Kanto, Nina realized something.
Not only did she not have a map, she had no idea of her current location or where she was going.

Ken continued to walk away from the two and began heading for the train. The sound of the train's horn blew most likely stopping in Vermillion or departing for some place else. Deciding agaisnt his instincts to stay with Mitsu he walked along arriving a the train station taking a good look around for potential Pokemon trainers.

The Oddish looked like it had actually taken some damage now, but it still got back up and tackled the Torchic again.
"Um...uh, Torchic, don't attack again." Cat pawed through her backpack for a pokeball, and finally retrieved one. "I think I'm going to catch it...but maybe...Another Scratch, only try and make it weak this time."
Torchic nodded and trotted over to the grass pokemon, holding up her foot to scratch it. She swiped at air; Torchic had somehow missed.
"Okay, keep trying until you scratch it. Scratch it LIGHTLY. I don't want it to faint...!" the trainer called, standing back up with Pokeball in hand. Torchic chased after the Oddish, hopping on one foot so she could scratch it with the other.
After receiving another tackle, Torchic had managed to scratch it.
"Good job!" Cat called as she tossed the pokeball at the grass pokemon.

((I think I put too many restriction on what to do and what not to do already so you decide. You decide if it's caught or used more balls. But just be reasonable about it. whee ))
