The palms came into view soon enough, and the adult male sprinted through their barrier back to the group and the water. He panted lightly, some energy spent on darting over soft, deep sand. White eys scanned around and blinked when they found one female awake. "Calm down, he's right behind." Poofy tails twisted as Ronan drew closer to the other two. It was still dark, but near early morning.
Green eyes narrowed to her companion, wondering what exactly occured. "Is that so? Cause I don't see him." Did Ronan bury him under the sand? She thought she heard a distant yell not to long ago. Good thing Lily wasn't awake to fret over it.

It wasn't long before the fullmetal alchemist soon came into view. Having stuffed the pearl back in his mouth and sprinting across the sand dunes till he finally reached the palm trees and the resting females. He passed the two colorful adults by, giving Ronan a peeved glance before moving to the still sleeping Lilianna. The red streaks in his fur and the slightly torn ear unmistakable. Settling himself down next to Lily, Edward curled up. Deciding to sleep through the rest of the darkness.

In her sleep Liliana felt him return. Gold tipped ears flicked softly at the familiar step of the paws and automail, her small body relaxing that much more. His scent, slightly sweaty was understandable even in dozing sleep.
The smell of his blood...
She started awake, eyes wide and worried. "Edward! You're bleeding!" Lily whimpered softly, licking at his torn ear while reaching for her bag to get the things she would need to clean him up. The faintest glow came from her body, strongest where their two bodies touched. Then it was gone and the winged female sighed with relief, though she looked now more tired than she had upon waking. Drained really. "oh good. Mostly superficial injuries save your ear ... but goodness Edward you had me worried!"
So preoccupied with Ed being back and his injuries, Liliana did not notice the object in her love's mouth. Though she did flick an ear to acknowledge Ronan's return as well. She had not been worried about him. He had been there before.

The peeved glance was returned. It was, afterall, the boys own choice to tag along. Ronan shrugged and stretched, tails flicking in the crisp air. Ugh, what a waste of time. He should have just slept the whole night. Tossing white eyes to the group, the male stood and headed back to the edge of the palms. One palm had a slight slope near its base, and it was here that Ronan curled and attempted to sleep without a word.
Setsumi couldn't help but blink as Ed approached. The tints of red startled her, till she realized they were few and too small to be bite markings. Had they treaded near the thorn plants? The feathered adult stood and backstepped as Lily awoke, quickly moving to heal Ed's scratches. Watching quietly, she sat back almost hesitantly, just waiting.

Blink. Edward looked up at Lily's sudden words, ears tilting back and spitting out the pearl, curling one tail around it. "Its not that bad" he said softly. He smiled faintly, "Sorry, I didn't meant to worry you." He had hoped she would stay asleep, but well.. he was quickly realizing that little got past Lilianna. The teen yawned, a bit worn out from that little.. adventure.

She was pulling out things from the bag and didn't hear the sound of the pearl hitting the leaves over the clank of bottles and rustle of cloths. Lily nodded lightly, touching her nose to his jaw before starting to cleanse his wounds. There were many, but they were not bad.
"I know, Edward. I know." She responded to both things he said, pausing to lick lovingly beneath his ear as she cleaned it. Liliana worked quickly and efficiently, the assessing of Edwards wounds taking its toll on her and she followed Ed's yawn with one of her own, eyes starting to droop again. The winged female really was not accustomed to using the healing gifts inherited from her mother. She salved all the scratches, only bothering to bandage the torn ear which she took extra care of and used a new potion that looked slightly pink beneath moon and stars. Stars... Lily pushed the thought & guilt away sadly while hoping her friend was okay. "However did you get like this? What did you do?"

The kitsu with feathers observed as Lily worked with haste, ignoring her own tired state for Ed. How nice. And she was a smart femme, bringing her knowledge of magic and potions on her first trip. A smile flitted Setsumi's maw, before she stood and curved around the two. "Be sure to get more rest tonight, alright?" They still had a good few hours of rest to gain, best put it to good use. With a nod, she walked off the palm bed onto the sand, placing herself to rest somewhere between the bright male and the two winged kitsus. She curled tightly and closed green eyes.

He couldn't say he didn't enjoy the attention atleast, his warm smile broadening as she cleaned his wounds. Eyes falling shut sleepily under the healing touch of his closest friend turned love as she applied salve and bandaged his ear. He probably could have nodded off right there, but he woke up again as he heard Setsumi. A smile and a weary nod of his head given to her. However, it was then that he also heard Lilianna's question.
"I was crawling through a thorned bush to find some pearl Ronan wanted..." although it turned out that he didn't really need/want it in the first place, but you know.

Lily nodded to Setsumi, tossing her a thankful smile & belatedly wondering when the motherly femme had joined her on the bed of leaves.
Then hearing Ed's response all other thought fled. Her jaw dropped. "You got hurt over some dumb pearl?!?" Thwap! Her paw landed harshly upon his head, somehow missing any scratches. "What was it, some kind of stupid guy thing? Hey lets go into this place with rabid dogs and huge worms underground in the middle of the night & just for kicks get a pearl from a thorn bush? Did you think you have to prove something?"
Crimson fur shifted over her body as Liliana shook -half mad, half mad with worry. Her temper was not one often seen save when it came to protecting those she loved. And she more than loved Edward. Love mixed with anger & fear flashed in her green eyes. Yet even as she was angry her tails and wings drew around the alchemist, wanting and needing him near.

Thwap! Edward was suddenly awake as Lilianna's paw came into contact with his head. Did she just.. hit him?! He was stunned at first, eyes wide and staring at her in disbelief. Ears laying back at the harsh words that came from her mouth. Head lowered and his expression soon turning to one of annoyance, "It wasn't like that!" he snapped. Turning his golden gaze away in a sulky manner. Infact.. he wasn't even sure what the heck it was about. It all just sorta happened. Started by his own curiousity as to what Ronan was doing. Besides, all he got was some stupid scratches. Its not like he nearly lost his life or anything.
He then used a paw to pull out the gumball sized pearl from under his tail and push it towards Lilianna. "Its for you..." he muttered faintly, still keeping his gaze turned in another direction. A paw lifting to his head to rub at the place she smacked him, a bit sheepishly.

She had hit him. Green eyes flinched as Liliana realized what she had done, a soft whimper almost inaudibly moving her body. She could hardly bear it when Ed turned away. "Edward I..."
Green eyes blinked at the pearl. Never had she heard of a pearl that size. Liliana was stunned. For her?
Not knowing what to say she lifted her head to lick by his paw on the spot she had smacked, grooming it lightly. Lily snuggled closer to the teen before she spoke. "I suppose apology and thanks..." The winged female laughed soft & awkward. "... but Edward... don't you know you mean more to me than a million pearls? Even ones as large as this? I'll treasure it because it's a gift from you, but Edward..." White & gold tails wrapped tightly around him. "The thought that you could have had to fight rabid things or might have had to try to carve your way out of a giant worm...."
Liliana shivered violently, curling tightly and clinging to him. Her voice when she continued was emotional & hushed. "You got out with only scratches, love. No gift is worth risking your life."

After the initial shock that yes... Lilianna had actually struck him, Edward chuckled lightly. "Its okay... I probably deserved it" he said lightly, feeling a bit guilty for worrying her so. He wasn't perfect, after all. However as she continued to speak, he listened quietly, ears turning forward as he looked back to her... a faint smile on his maw.
"I know..." he said softly, putting his paw back down. "It was worth it to me though, if just to see you smile." A nuzzle being given to Lily as she curled around him. He just wanted to make her smile. That was how it was with his mother in his past life, he and his brother learned alchemy because it made their mom smile. It was no different in this case. He would do whatever it took to make her happy.
"Besides... I'm not ready to leave this world yet. You can't get rid of me that easily" his smile turning to a grin.

Maybe he deserved it a little... but Lily detested that she had struck him for any reason. She had seen Dune at home, or parts of it. Those where the only large worms she could imagine, crawling under the the sand of that place. The idea of a creature that could swallow her house after Edward... Well it was little wonder Lily had been so afraid for him. Sure he could take care of himself but to do so for a bauble no matter how beautiful? At least she had not used a wrench...
"I don't need presents to make me smile, Edward." The crimson female murmured softly. But she was smiling, her green eyes sparkling with love in the darkness. She purred softly, then playfully nipped at Ed's uninjured ear. "Better not. Because I'm not either. There's too much of this world I've yet to experience. And I want to experience it with you, my sweet alchemist."
Green eyes were starting to droop, though the still focused as well they could on Edward. A loving smile did not fade as her head started to fall.

Again he laughed lightly. "Well to be honest.. it wasn't the reason I followed Ronan initially... its an added perk... but you do like it don't you?" It would be a shame if he'd crawled through that blasted bush for no reason.
The alchemist blinked at her last words, a light blush touching his cheeks. "I'll be here.. don't worry." He didn't know what else to say, being rather touched by Lily's words. Although he also noticed her tiredness, "You should sleep... we both should." A gentle nuzzle was given to Lily's cheek, not planning on leaving her side again for the rest of the night.

A sleepy giggle. "So I was right? It was some macho guy thing?" Her voice was soft and sleepy, yet playfully teasing. She loved him. Even if she had to worry about him all the time. Maybe because she had to worry about him. "I do like it, Edward." Lily murmured, barely able to lift her eyes to look up at him in adoration. "It just... might take a while for me to adjust knowing & trusting you can take care of yourself with worry for your safety, especially if I feel you've put yourself in needless danger. I do trust you, Edward. I know you're capable... it's these silly emotions." If they were not so close he probably would have been unable to hear her soft and sleepy ramblings. "Sleep. Yes. You and I."
Green eyes fell closed, and breathing in his scent Liliana in exhaustion was soon fast asleep.
