With all the power of a raging bull, kax knocked away Shintas sword with his own. he than stuck a knife into shinta's side. The blade was poisoned. the fight was over.
He smiled at The infamous Shadow Slayer. he wasn't so hard. he turned to face Lux.

The black mage accepted the bolt and sent a black rock over to Xitha

Leaning against the tree, Lux looked at the dog sitting next to her.
"So, where'd your friend Tochi go, anyway? He always seems to disappear from the height of the fun," Lux said to her companion.
Turning to watch Xitha do battle with the opponent mage, Lux narrowed her eyes in observation.
So I'm mage-talented, Lux thought. Interesting.
She could think of many ways her new-found gift would come in handy. She didn't mind that she would be nowhere near Xitha's level; as Xitha said, high amounts of power weren't necessary. Being able to work effectively with the power she did have was key.

Xitha laughed as the black rock hit her shields then bounced off, exploding into an angry storm of energy. Her new shield reflected opponents magic, then absorbed it, making her own shield that much stronger.
Xitha stared hard at the other mage, chanting something under her breath. She carefully constructed a trap-spell, one she had never used before for fear of its power. However, this mage was well-deserving of this trap.

((By the way, did Kax dodge the slash Lux' sword made at the back of his knees? 'Cause if not, his legs should be effectively disabled.))
Lux noticed that the pink beast had turned. With a deft flick of the wrist she sent one dagger flying toward his chest and another toward an area somewhat below the chest, and infinitely more painful.

((*in a deep voice* not so fast Xitha! you have activated my trap card, stone of darkness)) the stone sat in mid air. the mage threw a hand full more all stopping where they were deflected. They were beholder stones. Subtlely the stones sapped power and weakened the magic in the air. there was an explosion of darkness and the mage was gone

Lux looked back at the dog, slightly surprised.
"No, I was being sarcastic. I'd rather be any place but here; however, I haven't been a hunter all my life to succumb to fear. No hunter enjoys battling, but they'll be damn sure to get out in one piece," Lux said.

"STOP." The word resonated in the air.
A white light surrounded Shinta. He stood, completely healed, and sheathed his sword, staring in awe at the ethereally beautiful figure standing beside him.
"Natsuko..." He breathed.
The woman smiled at him at walked towards Lux and Kax. "Hello Kax," she said coldly, "do you remember me?"
She smiled at Lux. "The powers will only allow me to be seen like this in order to protect him. Thank you for being a good friend. I am glad he found you."

Kax looked at the white figure and cocked his head. he shrugged and threw the poisoned knife.

Well. I wasn't expecting that. Xitha banished her shield, then re-erected them, a layer of shields to be exact. The first bent away from magic, the second repelled, the third absorbed. And it didn't matter what the magic was, whether it was magic-stealing or just plain magical attack. These shields stood against anything the strongest mage could throw against them.
With her new shields in placed, Xitha turned to face woman who had suddenly appeared in the woods. She was obviously dead... a spirit with something left unfinished?
Xitha joined Lux and the dog at the tree, watching in utter surprise.

Lux was in complete shock but she managed to get to her feet and bow politely to the ethreal spirit.
"He has been a good friend to me, lady. I owe him my life," Lux said.
