Abel distanced himself from the group as they tread the path up to the Temple. He figured he would have to eventually open up to them, but he wasn't quite sure he was ready for that. Silently, he remained thankful for Rhovanion's monopoly of the conversation. It drew the attention away from himself.

The more the others spoke of their homelands, the more Abel grew homesick for his own. Thoughts of the bright reds and browns that were the palette of the land. The charred beauty that was etched into the mountainside. Warmth flooded out from his heart and into his palms and he noticed a distortion of the ground behind his hand. Lifting his palm upwards the others faces began to undulate as though they sat behind a veil of invisible fire. The heat was comfortably warm with no risk for burning, he wagered. Remembering that his abilities were tied to his emotions, this was the first step in realizing his power. A sudden epiphany struck him as connected in his mind thoughts of home to this invisible, cozy fire. Wrapped up in excitement at unlocking the first secret to his abilities, he forgot his reservations about opening up and spoke.

"I'm from Runya." he said, his eyes aglow with reminiscence. Rather comedically, he stopped there noticably entranced by thoughts of his home.

Step into the dreams of Tomorrow...

Seorsa nodded silently as Kaiya spoke of taking her to see the sights of Brilthor. She laughed though. It was indeed funny that she thought a daughter of Arda...a daughter of the earth, could stay underwater for more than a few minutes. She went along with the fantasy though. "I'd love to see beneath the water. It will be quite the adventure." She smiled warmly and giggled again, but stopped as Abel did. She looked behind her and turned to him.

She had heard what he said, about being from Runya, but something else caught her attention. He looked a bit distant, as if something was bothering him. A look of concern grew on her features. "Abel...are you alright?" She walked closer after asking the question, looking at him warmly, but with worry. Her emerald eyes also glittered with curiosity, for as she got closer, she felt warmer. It bothered her a bit, but it was a comfortable warmth...and it seemed to be coming from him. She had so many questions about it, but waited for the answer to her first.

The replies she got - mostly the ones in response to what she'd said, and not what she'd asked - surprised her a little bit. Saya seemed to really think Me'a was a great place! That, of course, made Sari smile. Her smile was beautiful, and it seemed to bring all the little pieces of her, pieces that one probably hadn't noticed had been scattered, together into a luminescent whole.

Then came Sev's turn to reply. Though his voice was quiet, it held a certain something in it, a something that felt... old and mysterious and beautiful. It didn't sound like any of the others'. Sari's eyes met his own, purple ones for but an instant, and afterwards Sari wished he'd kept looking. They were very interesting eyes, with very interesting things behind them.

Kaiya's reaction probably surprised Sari the most. "Yes; my father was," the blonde replied quietly, accompanying her words with a smile. She listened as Kaiya enthusiastically told Saya about the tour she could give, and silently wished that she could see it too. All of it! She couldn't become fully at home under the water, but she could stay there indefinitely, and she was a better swimmer than most! Sari grinned dreamily upwards as she thought about seeing the ocean, Rani's rolling gait reminding her of the ocean.

Rani's sudden halt marked the ending of her reverie. "Huh?" Sari murmured, peeking around his great shoulder to see Abel... from Runya... in front of her. He seemed to have just... stopped. Rani reached out with his soft muzzle, gently sniffing at the back of his neck before pulling back with a surprised snort and reversing a couple steps. Sari calmed him quickly, then turned to focus on Abel. "...Abel?" she asked quietly, curiously, her eyes inviting him in a friendly, not sexual, manner.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 19, 2007 5:57 pm

As though from a great distance, Abel heard his name. "Abel...are you alright?" Blinking himself out of his trance, he instinctively closed his palms and brought them back down to his side. "...Abel?" Almost instantly, the warmth dissipated as his memories of home faded from his mind and he was left with the awkward situation of explaining himself.

"Sorry I was just...just thinking." He felt his heart close as though a turtle protecting itself. A part of him wanted to share his excitement over his abilities but he felt it would make him seem childish. And already the thought came to him that even in his success he failed to note how oblivious he became and that would make him vulnerable if ever there was danger. It seemed success was to be mixed with mistakes until he could master it.

"I'm good now, thanks though." He felt weird saying it to people he had just met but already a group connection had formed and the words came naturally. He nodded to Seorsa and to Sari as to thank them for their concern.

"Well, let's keep going" He said, looking in the direction of the Temple.

Step into the dreams of Tomorrow...

Seorsa placed a hand on Abel's shoulder gently with a nod and a soft, caring smile. She knew what he was thinking about without even entering his mind...as she did with the animals she loved. "It's ok. I understand." She whispered softly.

She too missed her home of Arda. The wind blowing softly in the trees...hearing the leaves rustle gently against each other. The constant but pleaseant chatter of animals around her. Some hidden, others looking down at her...speaking with her from the branches. The smell of the forest after a rainstorm. That calming smell of rebirth. She missed all these with all her heart, but knew she would see them again, just as Abel would see his home. They would travel to all parts of Sarnon on this journey.

After a short moment that seemed like forever with her homeland thoughts, she removed her hand and nodded to him again. "You're right...come on everyone." She said, taking the final steps up the hill. "Just down over this hill and we're there."

...and Enter the World of the Past

Well it seemed everyone had finished talking about their homeland, and for once Rhovanion decided he would allow them to all go before him. This way he could save all the ranting he wanted for the very ending without overpowering himself on other people's thoughts. Still they'd probably have a few complains here and there, but he was glad he at least had one or two friends here that did not really mind. Actually he was quite surprise Sev did not mind him, he, Abel, and Saya seemed like they would be the last people on Earth to welcome him, and yet like always life threw a curve ball. Perhaps the others would accept him just as well.

"Ah Sari, you know I used to live in Me'a a month out of every year? Of course it was during the summer time while everyone was out of school so I did not get to meet too many of the kids there, but still I think it was pretty cool that we could of ran into each other in our past and perhaps not even know it."
He eyed her for a second and almost blurted out a comment he would of regretted 'a face like yours, how could I forget?', but he uttered something else almost of a brethren to its sort, "Of course though, I knew there was something different about you, that you had a different race in you, that I would remember if I had seen it." He gave her a smile, hoping that his compliment within facts could still be seen, but not too flattery.

Still as he noticed the look within Sari, the Shea within her, he started to capture the beauty of that race and he looked to Kaiya and noticed her similar beauty in that aspect. One day he would have to travel to Brilthor himself, "You know Kaiya, I would be honored if you showed me around to Brilthor as well, I mean," he laughed, "I am rather quite long winded, so I bet if I put all my effort in talking into holding my breath, you could probably show me quite a bit before I run out of air."

Now with all of the minor stuff out of the way, although he already said more than most had, he continued on, persevering with words in tongue, babbling on and on with no enthusiasm to lack, for he was quite the eccentric man who liked to fling his arms around with every word he spoke. "I'd love to travel to all of your homelands one day, however I must say if you ever find yourself in Vilya, please come by and visit me, I'll take you this great little area where the mists and cloud just devour you, keeping you almost in a lucid like dream, losing yourself, losing every thought, and calming down to be one with the clouds." As he spoke the winds in the air slowly dulled down and actually started to wrap around him in a sweet caressing embrace, those around him too could feel it if they were willing to open their minds to it. "There's so much calmness there, that even I am lost for words." He wondered if this expression would help them see how amazing it would be there....

But flashes of the war entered his mind again, there would be no Vilya, or Me'a, if they did not stop it, he turned to Kaiya, and Sev who seemed to be his only friends, but he spoke out to all of them with a little shaken stir in his voice, "The lands that we hold dare to our heart, the very things that we cherish and wish to call ours, that is what being threatened right now, this very second and minute. May we bring honor to those who are counting on us."

Even though Sev had turned away, he could still feel Sari's gaze stay on him. He dare not look though, for he didn't want her to think he was annoyed by her stare.
He kept walking with silent, almost gliding steps that was normal for all of the people of Maloch, listening as Rhovanion entered one of his dialogues again. He realized that Rhovanion was trying to befriend him, and he wouldn't deny it, although he would get annoyed with him easily. The more Sev listened to Rove speak, the more he found that what he said wasn't all useless. There was truth in his words and a good fight that teared within him. All of them would miss their homelands, if not now then later, and Sev couldn't stand the thought of Maloch, the most peaceful of lands, being obscured with war.
His expression remained the same, as if he had a secret he would never let out, a mysteriousness that he always had since he was just a small boy. But his mind was dissheveled, and he wouldn't show that upon his shoulders he held the weight of his land.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 22, 2007 6:22 pm

"Sure, Rove. I can show you, too. The more the merrier," Kaiya smiled. She was excited to be able to show her new friends around her home. Usually, when Kaiya found a new interesting thing to see that was a little ways from where she lived. Her Shae friends would chicken out on her saying that it was too dangerous though that was not the case most of the time. Kaiya, out on her mini adventures, would find small caverns with crystals or a couple of gysers here and there that she thought was cool.

Speaking of her home, Kaiya thought of something and she gasped softly. "Is there water at this temple?" she asked quickly looking over at Saya. "Or at least something by the temple?" Talking about her home was starting to get her a little... water sick. Kaiya hadn't swam in about a day and she was getting a little tired of walking. Not that she was complaining or anything. She was just missing her fins and was getting a little tired of her legs.

Step into the dreams of Tomorrow...

Seorsa turned to Kaiya and laughed a little. "Well of course! Tarna is the combination of all the elements. The centerpiece of the world. It's got everything any of you will need." As they approached the temple, she held out her hand and touched a large silver stone in the center of the wall. There was no door. Speaking loudly for all to hear, she turned, keeping her hand in place. "Watch carefully. Activating this stone is the only way to get into the temple, besides the dragon's keep. And I know none of you want to go up there unannounced. The only way to activate this stone is by soul energy, which all of us have. It is the energy that powers the elements. The energy that Tarna masters in. It is the beginning of all of Sarnon, and as we are to save Sarnon, it is within all of us. It's not hard to summon. All you have to do is think of something that fills you with a strong, but good emotion. I will open it this first time, but it would be best if you all practice on some of the crystals you will find within the temple." She knew all of this only because of teachings from Maranwe. Mara was her only friend in the two years she had spent training. She had come early only because it was her time.

She then turned once more to the stone, and closed her eyes. Within a few moments, the mark of the Chosen beneath her top began to glow, so bright that it shined through. But the shine moved. First to her shoulder, then down her arm, and then stopped in her palm. All happened within a few seconds. The glow, after another few seconds, began in the stone, and traveled throughout the solid wall like blood in veins. It soon illuminated the outline of the door, and as it did, the doors began to open, revealing the temple inside. To Saya, it was a forest filled with springs and rivers, butterflies and animals, and crystals of a soft blue. They already glowed with the soul energy, for she had imagined them that way. That's what the temple of Tarna was. It was a place all your own. Taking the shape of whatever paradise is in the minds of those who enter. The crystals remained always, which is why Saya had mentioned them. But everything else? Everything else was up to the imagination.

Magic seemed indeed to flow throughout the lands, and it was ever so present with this temple. Saya had said that it could bestow whatever you need, she was not kidding for their within the temples grasp was everything that Rhovanion could even dream of. It even left him speechless for the first few seconds not even able to comment on him already having control of his power, although of course even though he had control of it he was still weak in magic. This place though, this place truly was a keystone in magic, a shining relic.

First thing Rhovanion could hear was the rushing water that draped itself downwards across a hill, making it into a waterfall, and then slowly it secluded itself into a little lake. It seemed to be radiating with its dazzling sparkles. Winds gracefully tapped across the surface, and rippled its way to a little beach. And oddly enough the sands of the beach started to turn into fine grain, grain from golden wheat.

Stalks of wheat swayed back and forth, yet some could not move all the way, within the depths of the field were mighty oak trees that stood strongly within the ground. Could that even be possible? No farmer would let their land be scathed by regular forestry, but it seemed that was not the case here. Everything intertwined, what didn't belong belong, and what could not be, could be. He was astonished the openness of this temple, the forever boundless land that could stretch far beyond the eyes reach. He could be free here absolutely free.

As he was mesmerized by the sight, his eyes finally brought themselves up the hill, where the crystals were. Their soft blue melted into the river, almost as if it was giving life to it, giving life to this whole place. His attention swayed back to everything within this place, the magic from the crystals were great indeed. HIs attention turned to Saya, and he spoke out for the first time in a while, "it is so beautiful, but..." he looked back to the crystals, "if we remove those crystals, are mess with them, would this place.. would this place merely disappear?"

Dream of the Infnite Beauty

Seorsa smiled and shook her head. "Thankfully, no. You see...these crystals. They're more of a life force for the world of Sarnon, as Maranwe says. They control the magic of all of this land. The only way to destroy them is to taint them with Demonic Magic. Once that's happened. Well...they become the most dangerous weapon a person can possess. Because of this, they don't leave the Temple. Touching them, or removing them from their place will not harm them, though. They are created by Soul Energy. By the Soul Energy of all of the creatures in the world. There are millions of crystals scattered through out the Temple. Each one represents one of the creatures. When one creature dies, the light dims, and eventually fades off for good, the crystal crumbling into a fine stone. In fact, this stone makes for many purposes. It makes amazingly strong armor, which we will be receiving, it's great for healing, and in some cases, if taken into the body soon enough, will bring a person back to life. But as I was saying, once another creature is born, then another crystal grows in it's place."

She smiled, and sat down next to one of the trees born from her imagination. Stryker came and laid next to her, sighing heavily. "We'll wait here for Mara...she should be coming down soon." Saya now sighed as well. "When she is done talking with us...there is something I must show you all. It's the reason we are fighting...and It's not pretty..."

A young woman, graceful and enchanting, walked down a rather untouched path. Her beautiful ocean blue eyes scanned over the area around her. She moved with ease and with a rather regal manner, though it was simply her nature, and did not neccessarily mean she was royalty. She stood at a height of around 5'6", her long, yellow blonde hair flowing down her back. She had a rather plain look on her face, though it didn't seem to mar her beauty in the least. If anything, it added a myserious nature to her. Her eyes never stopped moving, taking in everything. She was weary, though one could not tell to look at her. Her short blue dress was being pushed against her body by a light breeze that flowed past her. A soft sigh, light as it was, escaped her lips.

She was lost. Plain and simple. She looked around, not seeing anyone nearby. She had been travelling for so long, and the last town she had seen was miles away by now. She knew she was going to have to set up camp, as there was no sign that she would be coming across a village anytime soon. Her knee high boots made a soft scuffing sound as she walked over the dirt path. It was clear that this was not a popular path. It looked as though it hadn't been travelled in a long time. She had no idea what land she was in, or how far from home she was. Her eyes grew distant at the thought of home. She had not been there in two years. The beautiful watery home, where she could swim until her heart's content. Now, in this dry looking land, she had yet to spot water. She suspected she was probably in the land of Runya, but she wasn't completely sure. She continued to walk, hoping to come across a village, or even some people, soon enough.

"Soul Energy? Crystals crumbling, per every creature that dies, renewed by every creature that is born..." Rhovanion found himself mutter the concrete phrase of what she said. His mind was engulfed with thought... imagining the horror that could fall upon the world if the wrong sort of people had gotten in here. The crystals could forge armor and weapons for an army, and if there was not enough, then they could hunt and slay more creatures, more elves. Wait that was already happening, how many crystals were in ruin already? Perhaps the question was, how many were left, but for how long?' His mind was alarmed and he spoke to the others as passionate as ever. "How noble and strong those crystals stand even when we are plagued with war, but if the world destroys itself, then the crystals would flee? Would that mean that this very war could destroy all the beauty, and all the soul of the earth? What would there be left? Nothing!" He thought more and more, not really listening if anyone else wanted to speak, he was too enraptured.

'How did this war happen? Because a group of elves wanted power? Well what better way to get power then by breaking into this temple and stealing those crystals? And having a war would give them all the power they needed in there. But, only those who had soul energy could open it, perhaps the Gods gave them favor, foresaw what was going to happen and made the limitation for only those who had soul energy, their mark upon them. Right? But wait, the door opened for all of them, when only one gave their soul energy. All the enemy had to do was capture one of them and use them on the temple to get it open.' Fear draped itself across his heart, and his face turned quickly to a somber appearance. 'If they got captured, the fate of the world could be sealed, there would be no chance for peace after that. They had to survive, they had to do what Anorad and Alucia told them to do. No ifs or butts. And wasn't there another way to get into the temple? Something about a dragon? Yes, if the armies of Sindarin could muster themselves against a dragon, they could easily flood this temple and take all the crystals, even the ones that were still alive? And what then? Use them with demonic magic more than likely, and try to enslave the whole world. So not only would this group be burdened with doing exactly what the gods wanted them to, but they were encumbered with doing it as soon as possible. Every second would matter. Or so it would seem.'
PostPosted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 11:34 am

"Don't worry, Rove." Seorsa smiled at him, then at the crystals as she touched one gently. With the soul energy flowing through her body as it did with them all, the crystal began to glow even more brightly. "No one can get into this castle. Any brave enough to dare the Dragon's Keep will be eaten alive by at least twenty full grown dragons. See, those dragons are the keepers of Tarna. They protect the land with all the might they have, just as other dragons, that live in other areas, protect those lands. I don't think it's possible for any of us Quenya or Sindarin to breathe up that high. And well...the only way we'll get captured is if we let our guard down."

It was obvious to Saya that he was lost in thought, but she figured she'd give it a try. She hoped he heard. She knew it really wasn't true...that if they really wanted to, the Sindarin could pass through the dragon's keep. Especially if they were skilled in magics, which most were. But she also knew that they had no idea of the Crystals. They would get it done, though. She had faith in all of them. They had to after all. And she, for one, was one who never let something go. If she had to do something, she would.

Sari listened carefully, biting her lip a little bit in thought. So they crystals... are made of life energy? Whose? the mixblood thought, eyeing the one Saya touched with a cross between curiosity, suspicion and awe. The way the thing opened... It was truly a sight to behold.

Not that Rani liked it a whole lot. The stallion fidgeted uncomfortably, dancing to the side when the light wound its way up the stone. Sari leaned forward and began to whisper to him, trying to calm him, and thus lost most of the following conversation. When she tuned back in, she caught Rove saying something about the nobility of the crystals...? And then Seorsa started to talk about dragons.

Now those really caught Sari's attention. "D-dragons?" she wispered, her eyes wide as she took that idea in. It was odd enough to think that she would be considered worthy of capture by their... enemies, but now there were also dragons and soul crystals? What next? the blonde girl wondered somewhat faintly, her faraway grin a mix of horror and excitement.

I am living in a *storybook*. Have I just been dreaming all of this? Sari thought, thinking back on what had happened to her so far. Nothing had even really happened yet, and already it felt surreal. Sari had always grown up thinking she'd die in the little town she was born in, yet here she was about to... what? Do battle with an entire army? Fight alongside dragons? Adventure around with this merry band of wanderers? "Does anyone else feel like they're in a dream?" Sari asked, her voice soft and surreal, as though she'd spoken a thought out loud. In truth, that was exactly what she'd done, but she didn't yet know it.
