There's nothing wrong with double negatives.

They do sometimes. Depending on the context (and dialect) they can also strengthen the negative or soften the positive, either of which is clear from context and all of which provide semantic reasoning for using them[1]. Anybody who disagrees needs to present some reasoning that doesn't come straight out of (1) the 1900s[2], (2) Latin[3], or (3) mathematics[4].

You could at least try to prop up the argument that it makes the meaning of the sentence ambiguous (which I don't really agree with), since that's the major reasonable argument for prescribing language usage.

Oliver is spoiler/ definitely coming back - Justin Hartley's official website says so /spoiler.

---
[1] As in Zach's case: his double negative softened his statement of "I agree with that," which added a layer of semantics which could be interpreted as "I agree with this part of what you're saying, but not the other stuff you've said" or "I agree with this part of what you're saying, but I disagree with the overall sentiment," which would have come across as combative when Zach probably didn't want to get into an argument.

[2] As academic views on language use have -- shock, horror -- progressed somewhat in the past hundred years, particularly since the 1960s.

[3] As English is not Latin.

[4] As English is not mathematics.

Ah excellent. Now that I have forgotten what we were talk about, let me just say that Smallville is screwed next year.

Thank you.

From the look of the spoilers lately, I hardly think its reached its lowest point. There are going to be a lot of things to look forward to. I'm going to try and stick out and hope for the best.

Wow Lana. I'm glad you have lost your faith in Smallville. I however. Think that if they stay on a superman Moral track they will do just fine. MOre Justice episodes if you ask me.

Justice was alright for me. Reunion was the best of the season for me. If they were more like that, then I wouldn't be so harsh on it.

what I liked about Justice though was the fact that worthless romantics took a back seat and they got down and dirty with the bad guy. That is what Superman and the Justice League was all about. I mean seriously, they had the basics of the Justice League all working together do crack down on this operation. If they had more like that I would like it a lot more. Reunion, i don't know I mean i liked it but it wasn't one of my FAVORITES per say...

WickedElphie
I can't see how they could possible have enough material left for an 8th season. Next season HAS to be the last one. As for the time slot issues, it's basically going up against the same composition is did this year so it should fare about the same way at first, but I agree that perhaps they should think about moving it. Perhaps putting Smallville in the Wednesday 8 time slot that ANTM usually fits in and put ANTM up against the big guns. That might fare better.

It's not about material. They have enough material to last them another 5 seasons. The problem here is that after only a little while longer you can't keep trying to convince people that he's still not the Clark Kent in the movies. Eventually he has to become the world famous nerdy Clark Kent/Superman we all know and love. Unfortunately he's running out of time. After being outta school for 4 years he's probably about outta time.

The problem is they're making him look like a loser because they have no idea how to deal with the journey from boy to Superman. Fact.

Crimson was one of my favorite episodes as well a chance to see Kal-El again, I like Kal-El.
And I agree Clueless no more fake pregnancies that was just stupid it ruined the Lexana relationship when they did that.

Crimson was okay. I didn't like the fact that the only way for Clark and Lois to actually like eachother was some lipstick but whatever.

I liked "Crimson", but after all the hype it got when I saw it I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

It's nice that they're giving Cloisers stuff like that -- but it's not what I want. I want actual development of their relationship.

Also there was stuff about it I really didn't like. The way it was edited together was incredibly choppy, Lois's outfit was fugly and exposition came at the cost of characterisation (when it really didn't need to!). A lot of the second half of the episode doesn't exist in my mind, also.

Plus it was the episode where we found out that the pregnancy wasn't normal. It was fun and enjoyable but not a quality episode. Lot of things didn't tie up like how that one girl knew Clark and Lois's names. And prefume that neutrilizes red k lipstick? Where do they come up with this stuff?!
