[[ Clock Town: DAY 2 ]]
arrow Waypoint Camp
Kotai crawled out of the cot nearest Hinata's, looking over the other Leaf-nin. A good night's rest had done them well, it appeared. Oh well. Kotai started kicking over cots and rousing his fellow ninja rather rudely... best way to wake up a ninja, if you do it quietly, you're likely to start a fight with a half-awake trained killer.
With all of the Leaf-nin on the ground, grumbling, but awake, Kotai stepped outside to the middle of the camp. "GET UP!" He shouted at the other Villages' tents.
The sky was still dark, it was obviously still very early in the morning - made annoyingly so by Kotai bellowing at everyone to get off of their asses. "It's time to go, I want all Villages and all squads teamed up, formed up, lined up, and most importantly, geared up. We're breaking camp inside of twenty minutes!" More than enough time, but just in case anyone needed something extra to prepare, there would be time. Kotai, already geared, stepped back inside the tent to see if Hinata was awake, yet - notably, her cot was the only one he didn't kick over.

~*~Waypoint:Leaf~*~
::Hinata rubbed the back of her hand over her eyes, yawning as she swung her legsw over the side of the cot, looking over Kotai's destruction of the other cots. She shook her head and stood stretching quickly to loosen everything and grabbed her gear, already packed the night before, and started a quick clean up::
~*~Waypoint:Stone~*~
::Kira started, the loud bellowing awakening her from a sleep she barely remembered entering. Disoriented she jumped up from where she slept, knives in hand, pale hair a fluffy cloud about her shoulders and face, her breathing rapid from her startled awakening::
Oh...
::her breathing calmed as it dawned on her where she was::

Shuten had slept sitting up; something he'd come to learn from his military days. In a sense he was still in those days, but he was past his youthful prime. Experience made him dangerous now, though he was far from actually being old. He looks over at the girl, as well as the rest of his team. He'll keep her out with him..she isn't strong enough, he doesn't think, to go rushing into the enemy keep. He doesn't know her speciality either. He shifts his eyes to Kotai as he rouses the rest..and he begins to dress, putting on his underpadding for his armor.
"So it's finally time. Alright then. Time to see if this new empire has strength."

arrow Waypoint - Sand
Areno rose up from the pile of sand he'd slept in like a vampire reminiscient of Bela Lugosi. He cracked his neck, bones popping all over his body... the sound was loud, disquieting, and sounded like a machinegun going off. Even for a Kaguya, there were far too many bones in this boy's body. Not that anyone needed to see his secrets too early.
The Sand squads broke down their tent, fully-geared and prepared. They were desert-hardened, traveled light and fast. The Sand squads lined up in their formation, ready to go.
Areno sort of blinked at them, then to the noisy Kotai, and back over to Shuten. He looked back down at the pile of sand and considered going back to sleep for a moment until he realized there'd be payback today. With a grunt, he fashioned the sand back into its gourd-shape and slung it over his back with the other one. He stuck the four large scrolls between his gourds, and two medium-sized scrolls in each gourd for safe-keeping and went to stand off by himself.
arrow Waypoint - Cloud
The Cloud-nin took a bit of time, but their crew was apparently the most tired. They had two up in quick rotation, constantly making sure the camp had fair weather.
Tetsujin, on the other hand, couldn't be assed to bother with the weather. He was sleeping on a futon under the full night sky when Kotai started rampaging. He shifted, opening an eye to glance at the guy, and then sighed once. "Yare yare... the wildlife around these parts makes for a noisy chorus, doesn't it Shu~ten-kun?" Tetsujin was staring at Shuten, not thirty feet from him. He stood, rolled up his futon, and tossed it in the carriage with the other Cloud-nin. He looked around for a moment and decided he was fine where he was.
arrow Waypoint - Snow
The Snow teams took the longest of anyone, there had been odd flashes and the occasional whirring sounds coming from their tent all night, and it was apparent that even now, they were still putting the finishing touches on more technology. The group of scientist-ninjas decided to leave half of their number here, to continue work in case they discovered any new break-throughs and to keep the area clear.
The other half of the scientist-squad went with the Snow warrior squad, and lined up accordingly.
arrow Waypoint - Grass
The Iteza Protectors who weren't on the rotation merely dropped from the trees and formed a perimeter around the others. Those currently on duty made their presence known by standing out on limbs where they could be seen. They'd be the ranged guard. Tekikaku was nowhere to be seen... but considering that you couldn't see him even when he was standing two feet in front of you, that was to be expected.
arrow Waypoint - Leaf
Kotai helped Hinata clean up the area and break down the tent. "Come on, love, it's time to inspect the troops." Kotai waited for Hinata so they could make the last minute preparations.

~*~Waypoint:Stone~*~
::Kira hestiated a moment before going and assisting the stone nins, who she still did not trust, in clearing out their camp. After doing what she could to help she went to stand near Shuten. Her icey eyes were darting around, her black outfit folded up with the rest of the stone gear, she was now dressed in more normal garb. She wore loosely fitting dark blue pants, heavy well oiled and insulated boots, her upper body covered in tight netting, overlayed with a cross of dark blue fabric over her torso as her top::
::Being that he was the only familiar thing here, she stayed closer to him than she normally would have. She felt better after a rest and more alert, however she felt little would bother her in Shutens presence and she was surely not going to welcome the attention of the other Stone nin. For now, she would stick by him::
~*~Waypoint:Leaf~*~
::Hinata nodded, having finished with the packing and went to make the rounds with Kotai. Her white eyes were oddly hard compared to the usual soft expression on her face. It was going to be dangerous, what they did, very little if any room for error, but it had to be done::

When Shunketsu had awaken, Shunketsu gathered up all the nin he had gathered yesterday to form his task force. Saeko, one of the two guides, was amongst this ninjutsu-specialist group. Hoshi was with the rest. They gathered quickly for Shunketsu's plan needed to be executed soon. The lot consisted of 7 shinobi, Shunketsu, Saeko, and 5 others. They had readied their supplies the night before: packing weapons, some water, some food pills, stopping by Snow's tent to pick up the armor, etc.
As Kotai and Hinata readied to inspect the troops, Shunketsu confronted them.
"Kotai-sama, Hinata-sama, I've gathered some of the ninjutsu users and developed a distraction strategy to increase the success rate of the frontal assault. I would love to divulge the details, but time requires my troops to move quickly. All I can really say is Don't Be Late. The success of my operation depends on it. Hoshi has the entrance key necessary for your assault."
With that, Shunketsu and his troops kind of shunpo-ed out of the camp.
((final battle coming soon...hopefully what I have will be able to put up a challenge.))

Shuten finally rises, the Stone groups breaking up as he had instructed them to in the tent the other day. He turns, and puts his hand on Kira's head and gently squeezes. He was acting so different. Maybe it's because it's mission time. He grins, and stretches..raising his weapon.
"Now's the time. Don't be reckless, but don't be cowards either! Kill as many as you can before you die, all of you! Do you bastards want to live forever?"
It seems that the man if nothing else, truly enjoys his life; he doesn't seem to fear death at all. If nothing else, it's almost like he looks for it. There is no finality other than life and death..

Kotai finished his inspection, nodded to those who were staying behind, and then lifted a hand in the air. "My fellow ninja. Today we shall fight... we shall not fight over the missions that may bring in money to our countries... we shall not fight for each other's territory or power. Today... today, we fight for our very survival and way of life against foreign powers, using our own against us! Today, we are not Leaf, or Stone, or Sand, or Snow, or Grass, or Cloud. Until this war has ended, WE ARE SHADOWS! We are the masters of death known only as shinobi, and we are on the warpath... NOW!" He brought that hand down on that final note, stopping at waist-height. The force continued, splitting the ground below the knife edge of his hand, creating a fissure with a tearing sound that signaled all groups to go into Shunshin.

Shunketsu's team made haste as they rushed for the base. Passing by a field on the way...
Someone: "Should I alert the others?"
Someone else: "no, too small in number...they're only recon...we'll wait for the main force...then we'll have some fun..."

Tekikaku raced alongside Kotai, the two of them forerunning the main body of ninja, with the others spread out within sight of each other at all times - ensuring they could not be picked off one at a time or replaced by a clever enemy without at least five others being aware of it.
For the time being, they continued in the wake of Shunketsu's advance guard, nearing the field.

arrow Fields...
Most of the way through the field, the main force would have experienced no signs of trouble. Then, about 10 earthen pillars came up out of the ground, surrounding the entire force, but since they were so spread out, there were obviously large gaps between the pillars. Strange lights shined every now and then between the pillars, but other than that, nothing else happened...
A cloaked figure sort of uncloaked in front of the main force, outside the containment area created by the pillars and lights...There was some sort of force field created in between the pillars, effectively caging the shinobi force within its walls...
Cloaked Dude: So glad you could join us. We've been expecting you...

Collectively, the Stone troops were behind their leader, but he closes his eyes as he feels a disturbance. Shifting, he bursts rapidly several times using his village's Shunshin, moving through the ground like a land-born shark, only to burst upward from the ground some twenty feet from the main party, chuckling, arms crossed, tipping his head as he gazes at the leader of the enemy party.
"It seems that our main force is playing possum. They've been in this little trick for more than ten seconds. I guess it's my turn to shine."
And the large man lifts his hands, making the proper seals, before striking his hands down on the ground hard..his face fixed in a demonic grin.
"Doton: Rikujou Shougekiha no Jutsu!"
The ground, starting from where his hands hit, forward about ninety feet, erupts and shakes as if an earthquake had begun. The ground that the pillars came from cracks and shakes, and if these pillars are part of the ground, unless they're made of metal, and obviously they're not, their structural integrity will most likely break; even if he doesn't topple down the area his technique has hit, it will most certainly crack them and shake them to the point it can't be ignored.
"This is the greeting of the undefeated of Iwagakure!"

Kotai stood, with his arms crossed. He nodded once, perceptibly, towards Shuten. He looked to the side, motioning to where Teki should be... unable to see the invisible sniper.
Tekikaku turned from his position at Kotai's left - no more than three feet away, and began to move, becoming visible again. He motioned the Iteza to take up point, activating the first level of their eyes.
A whole squad of Iteza Defenders ringed the main force, able to clearly see any hostiles in the area for a distance of up to nearly two thousand feet. As one, they drew the bows from their backs and fitted arrows in motions almost too fast for ninja to follow - they were professional marksman, by blood and tradition, experienced in warfare.
Areno was a tad unused to all the shifting, being as solid ground was a rarity for him, but he quickly adjusted, ignoring his squadmates. The Desert Wind drew the air currents to his body while activating his Byakuugan.
As for Tetsujin... well, Tetsujin just watched Shuten with scrutiny. He could care less about traps and whatnot.
Kotai looked back to the others. "So much for a stealth operation. Our only choice now is to hit them hard and fast, before they have a chance to bring their defenses up to full strength." He flexed his right bicep once, creating a spark of electricity to leap from the flesh.

The earth from the pillars cracked and fell, but only to reveal what the pillars were really made of. Some kind of metal alloy pole was now visble, and shield generators were seen along the sides of the poles...and on the tip as well...What was more was that there was a tag on one of the poles as well, relatively well hidden as a metal plate was partially covering it from view...Whoever was inside the barrier would have an extremely hard time getting out...
As for the man who greeted them with the earthquake, his welcoming gift was basically an icicle, shooting up from the ground, attempting to impale him as he boasted...
Several of the heavily-armored soldiers now appeared, basically coming out of the ground, coming into view from the trees, and some kinda just dropped out of the sky...The soldiers totaled about 20, 21 counting the leader...
As of right now, the enemy seemed to have the advantage...The main force was trapped within a shield, combined with something else that wasn't quite visible to without close examination...and the only person outside the barrier was a possibly impaled Shuten...
And by the surprise on Hoshi's face((the guide still with the main force...)), there had been a few additions in terms of base defense since he last checked...

It was never that easy. Still, it was a good shock, but if pillars had come out of the ground, the man from stone would expect other stuff too, really. But an icicle? Blades, sure. Shuriken traps? Yeah, alright. Even summoned demons..but geez, ice? That was cold, man. The icicle would meet with his body, just enough to get a little bit into his flesh past the underarmor he was wearing, before he lifted with the motion of the impact, and gripped the icicle with his large hand..slowing it considerably..before shattering it into pieces, by charging part of his unnaturally large Chakra into his grip. Shuten's feet meet ground again after only lifting a bit. The puncture wasn't that serious at all. It hadn't gone deep enough to hit anything important, and the underarmor was tight enough that even pierced, it would staunch most of what bloodflow there was.
One would get the idea that a wound like that was an inconvenience at best to a man like him. He was a walking tank, and tanks don't go down easy. Still, rather than form some kind of large attack, he raises one hand and chuckles..
"Alright, not bad. Now, permit me a moment before this all starts.."
And what does he do? He picks up a rock. One rock. And he throws it, right at that barrier, with this bemused, bored look on his face. The man has to be crazy. He doesn't look like he's bothered at all by this entire situation.
