Yes, I quite know what you mean. But...a book whose Erik is based solely off Gerard Butler? *Bangs head against wall* Thanks for the warning.

Taboos I love the original Leroux novel, but I must admit that I haven't read any other version. I must a get a library card, at once! Ditto.

Alexis Of Shadow Yes, I quite know what you mean. But...a book whose Erik is based solely off Gerard Butler? *Bangs head against wall* Thanks for the warning. Bah! It's for the phan-girls who know nothing of Erik, only Gerik. *shakes head*

*Twitch* Gerik is the bane of my existance. If I could get that book at the library, I may read it. For shits and giggles. But otherwise...no. Just no.

You left The Canary Trainer by Nicholas Meyer out of that listing. It's the better of the two Phantom/Sherlock Holmes crossovers.
I'm in the process of reading it now and overall it's not bad. The author just has a habit of keeping minute details true, and changing bigger things that have no bearing on the story. For example, he cut out Raoul and Christine's background as childhood friends... Now Raoul has been actively courting Christine since he first saw her as Siebel. He's not the only one either... Buquet is in love with her too, and that's why Erik kills him.
And, for some reason, there's a conductor named Gaston Leroux.
That 'You are Not Alone' sounds atrocious, though. I've read second-rate phics with a better grasp of plot.

Wow, that sounds like a good llist of books. I've only read the well known ones... The original, of course, as well as Phantom of Manhattan and Susan Kay's book.
I need to add the rest of these books to my reading list now. razz

One not listed is a title called "Phantoms Don't Drive Sports Cars"... it's meant for young(er) children, and is from those series about the four kids that find supernatural beings in their town a lot. I'm not sure of the author, however.
It's a cute book, I guess, and Erik is suprisingly in character. That particular book is the scariest out of the series, seeing as it's meant for small children. xD
Although, Leroux's and Kay's are probably my favorites. 3nodding

All I've read is the original, and that's enough for me. Plus after what I've heard some of you guys say about other storylines, I don't think I wanna read some of them..

I'm about a third way though Angel of the Opera and quite frankly don't know what to make of it yet. Siciliano tends to make really weird deviations, like Raoul's appearance or the time the novel is set in, but then will come back with some reference to Leroux that only someone who read the book would know, such as when Raoul quotes himself during his interview with Sherlock. On the bright side, Sherlock currently seems to be on Erik's side. He seems to dislike anyone in the Opera House who isn't Mme. Giry.

Hey, I know a book that's missing from the list. Well, more a short story, but... Beauty and the Opera or the Phantom Beast by Suzy McKee Charnas. Everyone needs to read this. It is imho the best PotO book there is. PS. Post in my sad dead thread, guys.
