Eira repeats quietly to herself twelve regiments malitia, six regiments archers, an elite squad, and a few lines of horsemen "hmm... well though our force seems larger in numbers, I feel that the elven archers may pose a problem... I'm a bit curious though, by any chance are there any magic users among this force. I know a spell called wind wall, which may prove quite useful against a volley of arrows."

Yes, I understand the cost, and they are not likely to be at the front of many a battle either, it was merely a question, I'm sorry. I was only curious because I'd like to know as much as possible about what our side has to offer.

Could you tell me a bit about the militia? Are many trained for combat or is it primarily citizens whom have volunteered/been recruited untrained? I'm just curious about the specifics of our side's force, as numbers alone can be misleading if their meanings are not fully understood.

"If you truly wish, as I have said, I am moderately skilled in intelligence matters, especially in terms of terrain and creatures...though I do know a bit about humanoids as well, and if needs be great I'm slightly tricky myself with smoke and mirrors, though one could hardly imagine that myself, being so very monotonous in voice could ever manage to properly chant an incantation, I've had it on good authority that my chanting is at least twice as exciting as my speech and with more practice I'm sure I shall improve to in ability even more, which reminds me of another beautiful proverb from an old text I seem to recall coming across in the eastern areas of the world wilst on an expedition to learn something of spiritual anatomy which is such a fearfully fascinating subject dealing in all manner of Gods and Goddesses and how to properly harness their ancient and powerful wisdom to aid one's abilities in battle and in everyday life, as such I've managed to even whip up a few unique concoctions from the various plants and chemicals spread accross the globe in what might be called wonders or messes depending on the solution, why as I said before I am reminded of a saying which both old and elegant in design, that of the ancient Hindi Abud Mundi Gar, whom stated,'One is never truly perfect until one can improve his skills without spending time on them, only then has one reached the height of perfection,' which was a rather short saying that could possibly use some lengthening as such I have tried several versions out, and drawn the conscept around a bit to create several even more beautiful versions...

Would any of you like to hear some?"

"I agree, we need to know more about these troops that we will be commanding. Numbers arent everything, for example I have heard this rumor that 300 soldiers held back millions of other troops for three days. And secondly can we get a signed contract, its kinda just a habbit of mine, requiring contracts before agreeing to a job. It makes it feel more legal, even if the job is of questionable legality. And perhaps some more about the elves that we are fighting, for example their General, is he loyal, does he have family, where they are located excetra."

"Its always about 50 per regiment in this here case. The men are trained fer war, yes, but are not proffesionals. Nor are the elves. At least as unprepared as one can be around here."

"That's quite alright. Don't 'help' the troops with herbs or yer speeches. Diplomat and scout then fer ye."

"Indeed, few dwarves stood against many that day against the trolls who ambushed us. Rock-brained fools. In any case, I was getting to that. Now the stylus..."
The dwarf rifles around for some papers and 'pens' which he tries to distribute to the concious. The papers really just need a signature and read basically, that you will be performing leadership duties in the war department and cannot sue the kingdom for deaths of natural war causes, including acts of gods.

Thanatos looks at the contract to see if has been signed by the king and signs it himself. If not he makes a line Where the king is to sign and hands it back to him. If it is signed by the king than he carefully roles it up, making sure not to ruin any of the signatures, and places it in his bag. "One last question on my part my liege, has the army already been informed that we will be taking charge. Because i would hate to get there and than have the army not believe that we are now there generals, and then of course they would throw us in the brig, or kill us, witch would be most unpleasant, after all how many times can a man die and get a new job at the same time?"

"very well",Eira will take her contract look it over, then sign and return it. (one who is already dead, can't make many demands on a contract...) She will then gesture to those still unconscious, and says, "can you tell me anything about these people, I'd ask them, but the seem indisposed to some extent..." (she poke one of them to see if they wake)...

Sursqueek looks over the contract if he can, reading every word and noting whether it appears to be written by the king or not.

Eira say say to the King, "I just thought of something involving using this one as a diplomat... It may impact how long discussions last in the future"
She turns towards the long-winded emissary to be and easily switching from dwarven, says in elven, "You seem well spoken enough considering what I've heard thus far, I assume you can speak or understand elven?"
Switching back to dwarven, and speaking to the king again, "of course not speaking elven during discussions would call for a translator and make stalling, if necessary, even easier. Unless of course they just decide to negotiate in common..."

"They were informed, but seeing as the last few are dead, there should be little issue fer ye. Oh, and twice actually."
The king had not signed, but had the head of military affairs and the king's seal on it rather than a signature.

None of them stir.
"Not much. They were selected like ye, but seem to have some risidual effects. Pity really."

The contract is printed, a painful process involving many sheets of soft metal being hammered into shape and then stamped on peices of paper. It does leave it more clearly legible.
