My favorites include Basch (FF12), Levant (Jade Cocoon), and Auron. Auron is so f.ing awesome! Too bad he's dead. (He'd kick Cloud's a** any day)

That's a tough one but I'd have to say Squall from FF8, but something about Auron from FF10 really gets me. xD He was like THE easiest character to level up and uh yeah.. he's just awesome.

I usually like the side characters more than the main people... so here goes.. not in any order..
Vincent Valentine - FFVII
Auron - FFX
Bartz - Xenogears
Nash, Percival, Geddoe, Jaques - Suikoden III
Shu - Suikoden II

Haseo from .hack//GU. Why? Because he's got mad skills, a badass appearance, a great voice actor, and he's just emo enough to make you empathize with him but not mock him. And he's got a bunch of fangirls and more than a couple of fanboys in the games after him. biggrin
