Hey. I've just come across this guild and I'm just looking around seeing whats its like basically. I have been on Gaia for about a week now.

Here is my deviantart account-

www.ficklefiend.deviantart.com

Please have a look and see if you think I have what it takes to be an art f**!

Nothing truly cathes my eye. At least not in the way most Art Fags do. Nothing feels vibrant, moving, alive...

Agh! No edit button.
I'm being a spamwhore now.
I just thought I'd say
I'm making a thread of pictures, 'cause after looking back through the thread again, it seems to be the thing to do

My Names Jonathon, friends call me Q. I don't know why. I'm 18, and draw in pencil almost exclusively. Sometimes I put some marker in my art, but not often.
I lean towards a more stylized comic sort of style, because my goal in life is to draw comics for a living, so I'll probably post sequentials for critique eventually. I came here at the I guess you'd say instruction of KmKm. I'm not going to bother trying to join the guild just yet, as I don't think I'm good enough to get in right yet. That and I don't consider my self anywhere close to emo. More like jumbled, a little bit of everything.

I'm 18, and I pour crap into Painter and Painter makes it pretty. : DD I don't understand Photoshop and I use Paint Shop Pro for re-sizing pictures. I also don't understand Illustrator so it sits dormant on my hard drive. I do use the animation-shop thingy that came with Paint Shop Pro, though. Mostly in conjunction with MS Paint. But when I'm not lazy and when my paper is not stuffed in a box, I draw with pencils. I have about a million bottles of acrylic paint that have been used on occasion, but only really for the dragonballzpainting on the back of a dresser I used to have and a painting on the wall (which is now painted over). I also have watercolours but I am a supremely lazy person and never really get to using any of the things I have collected over the years. OH and I have oil paints, but I hate cleaning them up because all I have is soap and water.

Um...yeah. www.alexandreazenne.deviantart.com *kicks it*

I will be in college in one month and I am going to be in for some pretty named 4 year degree that is a variation on "graphic design." I have two classes that relate to it in the upcoming semester (drawing I and design I) and three that aren't (composition, algebra, and history).

Make that three classes. Composition is everything in Graphic Design: Bad Composition = No Love From The World.

Your art is good, though your gallery seems a bit lacking in terms of quantity and variety.

English composition. >.> I know about graphic design composition, I think there's a class later about that. ^^

Ja. That gallery is newer, 'cause the last one was full of utter crap. : P And since I don't understand most programs, it's just painter, painter, and more painter (insert one animation and one oil painting). ^^ Thankee. I need to get my pencils out of whichever box they're in right now. x_x

Hey, I'm Berserker.

I'm lurking quite often in this guild. I didn't really post for the simple lack of anything significant to say (or lack of motivation).

I thought it would probably be nice to introduce myself. As most people here I'm a learning artist.

I do have a preferrence for CG works. First and foremost because CGs don't make a dirty mess in a three meter diamter around my desk. As a result my CGs probably look best compared to my other work. I also like to paint with water and acryl colors. I do have oil colors, but I use them rarely (something about them being expensive and me being poor and special occasions that never come wink ). I also like to work with pencils. I often base my CGs of pencil sketches.

Lineart and shapes are my weak side (IMHO) whereas coloration is my stronger side.

Samples of my work can be found here: http://el-chupacabras.deviantart.com/

Spork away, people ^__^

Which is why it feels dead, lacking the vibrant flow of lines and shapes.
Coloration is nothing if you're trying to do something that requires you to know lines, shapes and colors. And of particular notice is how most of your figures do either feel or look skewed... That's just plain bad.

Your art feels bland, monotone, and in serious lack of some reality. Take out those pencils and wear them out! You can do better than that, you just need some REAL practice.

Hm, I first read your comment shortly after you made it, before I went to bed last night and I thought long about it. I thank you for your honetsy and for the advice. And you are very right. It was a good idea to post, because this really helped.Thank you!

SupRore Wtf Edition
To introduce myself:

I'm SupRore WTF, and I work exclusively in cgi. Photoshop and 3dsm, mainly. However, most all of my work so far is technical modeling, no real art... That's the reason I figure I was rejected. Anyway, here's some of my best:

So... Nobody had anything to say about that? neutral

*gulp*

Hullo. I'm Megan. My strong suit are pencil sketches. Even then, not shaded sketches, lineart. I'm considerably sucky at any medium which is not graphite

My deviantart : http://cactuar-tamer.deviantart.com/ , I haven't gotten much use out of my deviant art, and of the small number of pictures I've uploded, most are fanart of on stripe or another. There are only one or two pictures which are not.

I'd like to come here for critiques. I'd like to improve, but everyone around me just says "that's nice" or something equally bland and useless.

Ho'shitscaryintroductions..

Why ha-low thar, I'm Nozomi, formally Nozomi Yousei, usually called Noz. I'm sixteen and from ********, Nowhere. I don't really have a 'strong' point in anything, and I'm still getting used to my tablet and stylus, well yeah and getting used to Open Canvas. I can't use Corel products to save my life-- that and I can't afford them. D:

I immediately fell into the generic anime style, but I hope/think I'm drifting away from that into a more or less uhm, style. Yeah. Dx And tragically, I couldn't stick to one appearance of art if my life depended on it.

I used to sell little doo-dads in the minishops forum. This kind of easy-junk that I could easily do in ten minutes due to easily manipulated lineart. Yeehaw. Then I tried commissions but realised I got scared of being paid high amounts of money for art. How sad. O: If you want, you can peek around my DevArt, here.
