Curses my boredum...

I hate to say it, but I don't intend to read the books, the movie I'll see when it comes out for rent or on Rogers. I know so many people who've read them, and being a big supporter I almost bought the first book to give it a whirl. But it doesn't seem like something that's really a good stand alone story worth its salt. And seeing the sequal book doesn't encourage me to read it either because I've read a lot of novels and sequals, like movie sequals, never add up to the wonder of the first.

If its still out in theatres I might see it, I have a few friends that like the books and work at the theatre so I can get in free. But for me, the premise seems very overdone. Just how many revenge novels can there be? CP also seems like the kind of writer to never let his avatar get seriously hurt, but that is mere speculation based on how old he was at the time and how reluctant most authors are to let their hero bleed.

Ah well, the movie is probably a fun watch, but I won't get my hopes up for plot and story since his parents published his books. Anywho, that's my two cents, back to studying.

Well, I just got back from seeing the movie, and well, it wasn't what I was hoping for. I'm a big Garret Hedlund fan, and I expected to see more of him, but at least he lived to see the sequal, so that's a good thing. I also noticed the main character looks a lot like Prince Harry I think, of England, or his brother, the shaggier one. It felt very rushed and I expect the book slows it down quite a lot, but still, you can tell it was written by a very young person. The battle scene was terrible, I thought the dragon was too young to breathe fire? It only took them like 5 days, so I'm to believe she matured that fast? And they did was fly overhead and rain down fire on everything, what about the dwarves?! Typical cliche scotsmen wearing east-indian armour?

I'm gonna stop now.

I loved it, even though it was so different from the book. This is Eragon and Brom's HUUUUUGE JOURNEY (that C.P. emphasized in about 200 pages)- passing through one town, instead of dozens, and riding the pretty horsies until noon, when they'd stop to set up camp. Yeah, RIGHT!

I thought Hrothgar was Jormunder, and my little sister did, too.

My whole family read the book, and my whole family liked the movie, even if we were counting the parts the movie left out on the way home from the cinema. smile

At least there ARE some people who like the movie. wink

I didn't read the book first, sadly its the cover art that drew me away from it having been a serious art student back in highschool. I figured anything that had a dumb looking dragon like that couldn't be worth reading. Yeah, I know, I judged a book by its cover. I almost bought it yesterday but decided I already have 6 course readers to go through already and that trying to fit in more reading would make my head explode. MAybe in the summer I'll give it a whirl.

P.S. You're welcome.

I haven't seen the movie or read the books yet. I'll try and get around to it soon. It does look interesting. I always bear in mind, when going to see a movie based on a book two things: they can't make characters look exactly how I pictured them and there is no way they can put in every detail from the book and have it be under 8 hours, things will be cut. It's meerly a matter of what.

ahh so there is where you didn't uderstand. see basicly there are only about 5 points were the movie stays true to the book. in esence the movie is no more eragon then a chicken is an ostrich. i would get further into but i am falling behind in some of my course work. so i will have to leave this to someone else, sweatdrop i need to play catch up.

You need to learn how to state your opinion and back it up, if you didn't have the time to write another paragraph then why quote me at all? You aren't arguing anything, just stirring up dust.

If you have nothing to contribute then don't.
