I'm probably gonna get flak for this, but I don't care. I don't think there's any hope for Clana, even if they got back together.

The thing is, I never had a problem with Clana until I started watching Smallville. For a while, I was interested in the way they were going to handle the relationship with a non-canon premise; I was never in support of Clana, but I wasn't against it or against them giving them their day in Smallville if they explored it in an interesting manner.

What happened was that Clana just kept taking one step foward, three steps back, I didn't like how needlessly angsty and melodramatic it was, and by the time they finally got together there were so many "secrets and lies" that they could never have a normal, healthy relationship. It didn't make sense from either side of the relationship and what's even worse is that when they finally did break up it was as the result of something so asinine it just undermined this relationship that had been fabricated for Smallville in the first place.

We're at a point now where I don't think it would make sense for Lana to know Clark's secret and be okay with it. I know she accepted him in Reckoning, but things have changed now -- she's become more xenophobic, she's afraid and even hateful towards anything extra-terrestrial or different, including meteor freaks. If she accepted Clark now I think it would be completely out of character; I also think that she would, rightfully, be hurt by the fact that he waited so long to tell her, especially after all the badgering she's done. She's also been with Lex, and that's a point of contention for Clark. This crappy backstory is going to taint every relationship they try to have with eachother, and that's not something I want to save.

The worst thing is that I don't think they can even salvage a friendship out of this any time soon, which is what I want to see happen most. I want Lana to be a close friend to Clark, and I want her to know his secret and be okay with that and support him. I just don't see how even that can happen any time soon, let alone regression into the Clana romance, without having the writers backpeddle their asses off.

But I guess they're getting pretty good at that.

Lana would accept Clark as a meteor freak...She has know him all her life and he saved her countless times...Why would she not accept it because she finds out his secret? I woud agree she would be pissed of Clark didn't tell her...Lois will be pissed of with the green arrow. I can clearly see a friendship if Clark were to tell Lana his secret..Even another romance..

He's not a meteor freak and even if he were she's stated that she has no sympathy for them. He's an alien, and she's made it clear that she hates everything extra-terrestrial; not to mention that when he finally decides to let her in on the secret she'll finally have proof that he really was lying to her all these years, even at times when she needed and deserved to know the truth.

Also, when Clark broke up with Lana he deliberately did it in the most insensitive way. She doesn't feel good about that and even Martha asserted that he "made her hate [him]".


When was the last time she acknowledged that? All she's done lately is level accusations about his truthfulness and character.


Because he's made her hate him, because he was never honest with her and by telling her his secret he's proven this to her, because rather than tell her the truth and let her make her own decisions he made her decisions for her. Plus, at the moment, her hate of aliens is very knee-jerk; it won't matter that a couple of years ago she considered him to be a nice guy, at the moment she hates aliens and she's at least angry with Clark.

If I were a Lana fan, and I'm not really a fan of this incarnation, I would be angry with the writers if she were to find out Clark's secret and leap back into his arms after everything that's happened. I'd lose a lot of respect for her, not that, to be honest, I have a lot at the moment.


Probably, but that's slightly different. Lois and Oliver haven't been dating very long, and his being the Green Arrow hasn't had anywhere near an effect on their relationship as Clark being an alien has had on his relationship to Lana. Lois is also a lot more laid back about "secrets and lies" than Lana is.


I can see a friendship eventually, if it's handled right, and especially if Clark tells Lana rather than having her find out by accident, but not right now.

Yes. She and the people she knows have been attacked time and again by people with powers. Can you blame her for coming to the conclusion that none of them use them for good? The thing is that, as a result of that, people with powers doing good doesn't fit into her worldview anymore.


She can, but I don't expect her to straight away.


Possibly, maybe. The next three episodes do include Labyrinth.


She'd have more reservations, but the thing is, Clark's been coming off like a jerk, especially to Lana. That's why I think she'd be as pissed off as I do: because, at the moment, I don't see how he can have any redeeming qualities in her eyes.
