Baptiste nods and takes a look back at his wagon. Jolie and Folle would be fine until he got back. He walks alongside Tamlin's fine horse.

"Oh, it's the most wonderful festival coinciding that I've ever heard of! They're choosing a new Peror or Peress, and it's also All Saviors Day! It's almost unheard of that they come together." She laughed. "You silly gypsies. But oh... you want to see them? Alrighty. Here you are, little one." With that, the girl gently peeled the cloth off her wooden crate- revealing beneath three tiny birds- barely old enough to be adult Banyas, their eyes closed and gentle, bird breaths coming from their beaks. (( For those newbies who wanna take a look... there is a Trading Guide here. And, as per usual, feel more than free to ask questions of me, or ANY other gypsy! ^_^ We're old hats, now.)) Elysia Kavanagh Oqaia "Is very soon. You gypsies... you no ... no..." she clicked her tongue, unhappy that the word she wanted wasn't available. "Seen," she finally compromised, "You no seen by Heraph. No seen magic. No here should be." "Why not?" she questioned. Vanna was tugging on her hand. Carefully, she lifted the girl into her arms.
Then she pursed her lips, humming slightly. "What's your native language, miss? I may know it... that may make things easier for you.""Corphoros. Far south. Past what left of mines." She widened her eyes, wondering.

[Haha, I suspected. <3]
Ro makes a small squeak and shifts back and fort on her squirrelly feet. She looks pleadingly up at her mother. Her eyes are attracted to the bright green one.
[Oq, just let me know if I'm allowed a third Banya [Caroline: *faint*], and I'll post Caroline's response to her daughter. xP]

Lorelei ran through her mind, trying to find a trigger. Something... something.... she'd spent all her days since she was very little learning languages, playing the harp, and embroidering. Her father had even humoured her in her languages, finding it amusing. Like she was a little pet he'd taught to do tricks.
But Corphoros was a distant language, one she'd barely studied. She was fairly certain she'd be able to understand it... but speaking it?
Well, she might as well try.
She shut her eyes, trying to remember, pushing aside everything she didn't need.
"I know only small," she began, knowing she sounded as broken as the woman had in English. But she wasn't trying to explain something - the woman was. "But understand I. Talk greater?"

Nusa squirmed in Gwynna's arms, pointing through the crowd. Pretty birds! And her Friend That Gave A Gift!
Gwynna glanced in the direction indicated, immediately knowing what had caught the little girl's attention. "Oh, what lovely birds!" she exclaimed, wending her way over to join Caroline, Ro, and the bright-haired vendor.

"Ah ah!" she said, her delight transcending language in that simple sound. Then she lapsed back into her native Corphoros, still sounding as if she were growling- but now, the sounds were so much more correct- free from the halted, stinted crunch of the words before. " See, I think I was saying see in Standard. But I meant... recognized. The Heraph doesn't recognize any pure-magic users except his own White Sect mages. The gypsy magic will not be recognized as part of the festival, so I wanted to know- why you are here. Do you... know these words?"

Gwynna glanced in the direction indicated, immediately knowing what had caught the little girl's attention. "Oh, what lovely birds!" she exclaimed, wending her way over to join Caroline, Ro, and the bright-haired vendor. "Oh thank you!!" The Fermer cooed, looking down at all the gypsies with a wide smile across her stretched features. "What a nice thing to say. I didn't raise these, my little sister did. She took them out of nests when they were still eggs. I raise goats- but they're not fortunetellers. We sell those on the plains." She laughed at the thought. "Can you imagine? A fortuntelling goat!"

Once they reached the head of train, Tamlin saw a few people but was uncertain who was Valelldia and so she spoke in a loud voice.
" We are looking for the caravan mother Valelldia. We beg a favor of her and the caravan."

Caroline holds up a finger to the young woman. She'd respond in a moment. "Rojiza Fidelia," she says firmly. "Do we really need another bloody Banya bird?"
Rojiza looks at her mother as if she is exceptionally dull. She nods.
Caroline throws up her hands. She can't resist her silent daughter. Plus she thinks the green one Ro has her eye on is magnificent. "Verra well," she says. "How much for the glowing green one?" She laughs and responds to the girl's earlier remark. "Silly gypsies indeed," she agrees. "What's a Peror or Peress?" she asks, feeling rather stupid.

She understood snatches. Enough to get a rough idea... something about the Heraph, which she had heard of once or twice before (mostly in stories) not... ... understanding? the gypsy magic.
She licked her lips, trying to formulate her own questions, trying to understand as best she could. She shifted Vanna on her hip. The girl was staring in rapt attention, watching the conversation.
"Recognize? ... .... Accept? That meant? Us here baking- no, no! Um... Trading. Trading is. Path taken, every path... normal path." She blushed bright red, knowing what she was saying was probably nowhere near understandable. She pulled back her hood, hoping that maybe facial expression would help the other woman more. Hopefully she wouldn't be too frightened by her wounds.

Hinoicarri Once they reached the head of train, Tamlin saw a few people but was uncertain who was Valelldia and so she spoke in a loud voice.
" We are looking for the caravan mother Valelldia. We beg a favor of her and the caravan." Valelldia had not finished speaking to the one who had approached her, and so she was surprised to see newcomers calling her. She slipped down from her leadseat, giving an apologetic look to the one who was sitting next to her, hoping to clear this all up. "Yes?" She said, her voice dark and curious. "I am Valelldia. Might I help you, fair strangers?"
