 Before every performance with the exception of some, our band always does an "x" amount of jumps ^^

We do a series of weird things. We always do a stretch called the Hindu (though I have no idea why it's called that) and we play "Bacon Says" (one of our directors is named Bacon). One of our sax players comes around before we go on and tells every person "Don't f*ck up." And every day one of the trombone players yells "Big Dogs!" and the entire band yells "Woof! Woof!" in deep, manly voices.

Before a game or competition, everybody goes around and does the "pinky" ritual for good luck. This year, everybody ran around yelling "PINKY ME!" (People passing by gave us alot of weird looks lol). xd

One of us yells, "TITANS, WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?" And all of us reply, "CORN!!!"

I don't remember if I posted here already, but whatever....
so before we marched out for halftime, we would huddle (sousaphones and all =D) and put our hands in, and yell, "SCHBANG!" (don't worry about it...it's an inside joke in our section...xD)

Before we perform at comps, my section (flutes) prays to The Band Gods/The Flute Gods that we will do a good job and no one will f*** up. XD
We also punch each other lightly in the cheek and say "Don't suck!"

let's see.
the flute (there was two of us this year) pretend our flute are light sabers for about a minute before we leave the stands at football games.
claranets do jump on in before we leave the stands
saxes yell as loud as possible "IT'S TIME TO GET DOWN WITH THE ASPARAGUS WAY OF LIFE" before we leave the stands lol
"the pod" (our 2 tenor saxes, 2 tubas, and 2 baritones) play "Can't Touch This"
The drum major and assistant drum major jump around and shake out all the nervousness
trumpets take their mouth pieces out and blow as hard as they can
and our drumline (if they have one) all get a good lick kiss from their gfs
this is all before we leave the stands, after we leave the stands we form an arc and before we start warming up the claranest and flute pass around an imagenary joint lol I don't know why but it's fun.
the woodwinds then do the "evolution of dance" dance as a stretch
brass run around like chiken with their heads cut off.
then we warm up lol blah blah blah
then we link pinkies and pray "Our father who art in heaven..." we scream the last part at the top of our lungs and jump up and down.
~~~~ then we get serious and go onto the field lol we have fun ~~~~
We link pinkies and then kiss our thumbs for good luck and some of the flutes do hand hugs (putting palms together and touching thumb to the back of the other person's hand).
We WANTED to make this dance called Be The Monkey a tradition, but our BD said it was too loud... sad
Oh, and without fail a bunch of us get together on the sideline and go through the entire Mysterious Ticking Noise skit by The Potter Puppet Pals. Always helps us loosen up. biggrin
The drum major section (yes, we are a section now) prays before the performances to give everyone good luck. As a whole, though...well, our band has some interesting rituals. Our uniforms have a hook at the collar, so the band members always shout "I need a hooker!" and offer to be each other's hookers. We also have the pinkie sex tradition (anyone else who has pinkie warm-ups, try this). It's basically like a pinkie-promise (you know, lock your pinkies together), but...well, it's called pinkie sex. And if anyone looks at you funny, you just point to your gloves and say "It's okay, we have double-protection".
Well it's not really a section thing..it's between me and another girl in my section. Before every performance we could always go through some of "Peanut Butter Jelly Time." Yes you know what I"m talking about. Butt hat was because our section shirts had Peanut Butter and Jelly on the back of them.
Well, we have a lot of gameday and performance rituals that I'm not at liberty to talk about, but right before we head off we click our mouthpieces (octave key for saxes) together for good luck.
