The longer the sounds went on, the harder it was to convince himself that they were just some trick of the labs. It sounded so familiar... Thankfully, irritating though Newt's clinging was, it was enough to keep Thom's mind on the present and the fact that it was Halloween, he was with a group of people, and this was the island's equivalent of a haunted house. "Then we'll all die together," he replied with forced brightness. It wouldn't matter, his mind reminded him. He was already dead.
...Rats. The swarm of rodents was an instant tug back in time. The darkness became the smothering walls of his duplex, the red lights the heat bulbs from his stay in the labs. The noises were the clicking of thousands of roaches, and now the swarm of rats.... Thom's pupils dilated even in the darkness, and he jerked his arm free of Newt's grasp, stumbling back away from the group. One of the rats came a tad too close for comfort, and reflexively Thom slammed the carved cobra head of his cane down on the poor creature, killing it with a single blow and searching for another. "Not again. Not bleedin' again!"

Richard hears something new. Squeaking? Then movement in the under brush, followed by a swarm of red eyes surging towards the group.
Looks like this may be a bit more than a game for the islanders involved. Richard changes his grip on cane and hefts it like a sword.
Edit: As the first wave of rats come toward him he swings his cane downward. Two rats squeal has they fly back into the jungle. He keeps swinging as he attmepts to clear a path to Angelina.

Oz gave Ginerva a questionable look. She looked like she was enjoying this, and she had every right to do so, but it was kind of...creepy. She was the kind of person you could expect to reveal herself as a witch or vampire or something...
A rustling sound a short distance in front invaded Oz's analysis of the girl. Rats! They ran past and clambered all over his boots...and up his legs!
"Argh! Get 'em off!" he yelped, stumbling backwards into Ginerva whilst trying to flail his legs about in an attempt to throw the rats from his limbs. He even dared to try and bruch them off with a hand. Thank god for gorilla gloves!
But he'd dropped his gorilla head mask by this point, and it rolled down the path behind him.

((*dives in* Nita will push her way up to be with Gaius))
Nita finally found Gaius, towards the front of the line. She had, of course, been in the jungle at night before, but it had never been like this. Only the nights spent afraid that Annie would lunge out of nowhere and attack were anywhere on par with this.
Hearing the rats, she did her best not to shriek, only letting out a muffled gasp as she reached for Gaius' hand. "What's happening?" she whispered breathily, eyes wide.

Pyroth Ignatius rolled 1 10-sided dice:

The sound up ahead was enough to make Pyroth's ear's twitch. It sounded like a bow being fired or similar in the darkness. "Anyone else hear that?" he asked nervously, only for the question to die in the air as the squeaking of rodents filled the air. "Oh hell." was all he could say as the rats charged headlong towards him.
EDIT: Now officially not having a good night once of the rats decided to take a chew on one of his paws. He pulled it away angrily and snarled loudly at the thing, not actually thinking that the snarl itself wasn't exactly human sounding.

"No, they haven't, have they? ... She'll get what's coming to her soon... Though I'll admit, it will be amusing to see what may happen should she appear, to say the very least."
The pleasures never end! She screamed with joy as the rats stampeded about them. "Oh, my babies!!!" She adored rats. And these ones needed nourishment. "You will get your fill, don't worry!!!"
Then, the large man fell into her, and she too went down; she was a small one. She giggled more as the rats ran over her face.

Gaius felt his hand grabbed by someone and looked back, expecting Marshall, and was surprised to see the date he'd almost forgotten. "N-Nita!" he stammered guiltily. "W-where've you been? You shouldn't be here, it might be danger-"
Suddenly, a hoard of chittering, scampering furry boddies swarmed around them. Gaius cried out as several found purchase in the straps of his armor and climbed up his legs, a few gnawing at his pants. He stumbled backward, up the path, releasing Nita as he tried to shake the furry things off, and crashed right into the standing form behind him.

Yamamoto Kikue rolled 1 10-sided dice:

Kikue froze at the new, startling sound -- a metallic twang that echoed around her. She was beginning to feel much more nervous now, the spiderweb having shaken her resolve. Wasn't this supposed to be a party? The notice on the door had said...
Rallying, she kept pushing forward through the close jungle. Everything was so hot, and the foliage so close -- her mouth fell open and she began to pant involuntarily.
Her nose was suddenly assaulted by the smell of something completely unfamiliar. Ears pricking, she heard what sounded like an army trampling...right toward her.
She crouched on the path, reaching panic level. She felt like she had to jump somewhere! But something was coming closer -- little eyes glistening in the dark --
...Rats?!

Newt cried out as the little rodents scurried past him, thankfully hopping over them and kicking them off of him frantically with his well equipt large feet, and clung to Thom even tighter as he shreiked in girlish terror. They didn't have to actually bite him to scare the skiddish frog man. They just had to be there, scurry past, and dissappear into the night.

F wouldn't admit that holding the kid's hand made him feel a little safer, somehow.
As the wave of rodents rushed in, one caught F by the ankle, and attempted to gnaw on his tough, leathery skin.
"Holy Jethuth!" he yelped out of alarm more than pain. "Whad're vese goddamn animaws?" he couldn't resist crying as he stomped at the rat-covered ground, actually finding it strangely fun.

Oz continued to stomp around, not intentionally trying to kill any of the rats - just get them as far as possible. He'd kick them if he had to! The he spotted Ginerva on the floor.
"Oh god, sorry-" he began apologetically, but seeing the rats writhe around on her body and face, and the fact she enjoyed it, just kind of irked Oz and he recoiled.
"Okaaay..."
