@ Catonia: Contests are extrememly difficult to implement with a fair system, however, I have spent a lot of time thinking about how we could do it fairly, considering I prefer contests over battles as well. I have consulted astral several times with some of my ideas but we haven't managed to agree on anything enough for it to become concrete. I assure you, we are working on that though.
As for the maps, I'll see what I can do about finding maps for each region over the next couple of days, and I'll see about marking the "path" to the gyms for anyone who may not know.
Yours, Requiem of Whyspers

That's going to take a bit of engineering for it to work and Astral and I are artists...not exactly our forte. If we can ever draft Henna back from the depths of Suikoden, which has swallowed him whole it seems, he'll be your go-to guy for that.

Suikoden is luff, though. x3 If they translate Tierkreis for the DS, I'll die happy. xD
Anywho... I got maps up for the regions now. They're in the "Welcome to ___" threads like suggested. It was awful trying to find a good map for Kanto and Jhoto, so I made my own until I find a better one. xD If anyone finds one, feel free to pm it to me. =) Or Whysp can use his awesome post edit powerz to change it if you find a better one too. ;D
The ones I made have the gym number next to the town in the key to the map. The maps I found have the order listed on top of the image.
I've also been trying to come up with a basis for a Contest system, but that'll take some time. =) It would be interesting to have Contest Leaders in the same towns as Gym leaders, so trainers can choose their own way of playing the rp. Perhaps we can hold a guild contest of our own to create these leaders, like make a tektek character and give a description of the leader, along with what Pokemon they use. That way we can get some of your ideas in the guild. =)
I just like playing around with tektek... xD
Mmmmm, what else... Oh yeah! I'll get on the attackdex index now as well. I should have that up by the end of the day.
And for the attack power system, perhaps we can come up with something like every 10 levels an attack gains 5 power or something. That way the attacks don't get uber out of hand, but will still have a fairly good boost by the time a Pokemon reaches Lv 100. That might still be fairly easy to handle, as well as not having to turn each level up into a math session trying to find out how much damage each attack does. I'm not sure. @_@

I know we can't do long distance Wifi Contests, which would be a fun way to decide who should be a Contest "Master" for each region. And then have the tektek contest for the Contest "Leaders" for each town. And why not put the Contest leaders mostly in towns that don't have Gyms?
In the show, there's only a handful of contest halls scattered throughout each region, no where near as many as gyms, and you only need five ribbons for the Grand Festival, which should be located at the E4 area of each region.
And I say we make a member the Master of each region, so when others get there, they can challenge a real person rather than one of us Mods controlling an NPC.

A Wi-Fi contest would be fun, but if they did add a feature like that, I'm afraid we'd have technical problems. xD We never got our battle tournament past the first round. xD
That works, we can have maybe 5 contest leaders for each region, along with a contest Champion in each region to compete against?

Ya, I know. That sucks. Everyone was so eager to participate but it was just one disaster after another once it got underway. *Le sigh*
That sounds good to me. Beating the Contest Champion would count as winning the Grand Festival. So I say we have a writing contest for our members to decide who becomes the champion in which region.
I, of course, will be participating in it.*Kaya wanted to be a Coordinator anyway, not a trainer* I'd have to be the Contest Champion of Hoenn if I won, since that's where Kaya started his journey, and also, because I'm better at making Pokeblocks than Poffin.

That sounds good to me. I'll be afk for a few minutes while I help my dad clean the yard, but I'll be back to help you figure it out asap, kay.

Sure. No worries, I'm just finishing up the attackdex table of contents. =)
Do you think we should run contest attacks more like the games, or like the anime? Or a little of both? xD

I like the thought of doing like the Anime, that leaves more room for personalization of the moves' presentations, but still having a set base appeal so that everyone knows how much their moves will grant them at the beginning of each round.

Yeah, I like that idea as well. Like have each move have a base appeal ranking, but based on their "performance" of the move, they can get bonus appeal points.

Hm...I like the ideas, guys. Mind if I have an input?
There should be more than one guild-wide contest. Maybe make several. I do like the idea of having there be contest halls like gyms, where one could take the Ash path or the Dawn path, it'd be up to them. Or both, even.
I'd do it, definately. Rhapsody and I have a few ideas...Lol. But there should definately be more than one guild-wide contest, just for the fun of it...like on the cartoon, where the last...let's say...four contestants battle it out, but in a pretty way. And the top three get prizes, but you know...first gets the best, and so on.
What do you think?

That sounds like fun. =)
It'll also be an easier way of incorporating some of the moves the way they are in the games. Like the moves that add appeal if no one else chooses the same judge, etc...
Perhaps we can incorporate some Contest NPCs, or even have multiple real players compete for a ribbon at the same time.

Maybe...I still think an annual or bi-annual contest would be nice. Just for fun, like the caption contests. Perhaps we could even get, maybe, a shiny pokemon for first, and then some others for second and third...
For some reason, I just thought of the bug-catching contest from the second generation. XD I almost said "And a berry as a consolation prize!"
