He took her hand gently, with a courteous smile, and a nod to his head.
"And so elegant." He praised, leading her towards the building.
What she had been passed out to see before now revealed a plush lobby, with leather couches and a spactacular view of the beach.
"If you'll follow me... I'll show you to where our meal will be."
He gave a nod of his head, and began walking - through the door at the back of the office, and into a corridoor.

She blushed a little, unused to so many compliments. As she let him lead her onwards she took in the surroundings, and a wonderful view of the beach. Sayuri could have paused longer to look at that but she was taken further in, her sandals making an echoey tapping noise as she walked. 'Is Duvert-san well?' she asked, her voice coming out small, scared sounding as well.

Sabin let his gaze wander over her consideringly as they crossed the halls to the elevator bay. "I must say... I have been better. things have been... difficult recently. But I was hoping that your charming face and performance might help me get my mindn off of the situations at hand. "
The elevator opened as they got to the bay and Sabin pressed his finger against the metal panel.
Stepping inside, the elevator car was devoid of buttons. "Floor 12." Sabin spoke clearly, and the elevator leapt to motion.

She coloured even deeper under his scrutiny, but merely smiled and nodded. 'I will help Danna-san as much as I am able.' She hadnt realised that he had led into her into a metal box until the door swished shut. She panicked as the floor lurched below her feet and grabbed tightly to Sabin's arm. 'What is it?' she asked, her face buried into the material of his suit.

Sabin gave the young meiko a startled surpise. "The elevator? It is... a sort of device that carries you up or down. You... have never ridden in one before?"
The ride was short, and ended with a lurching stop. The door slid open to a very short hallway, which Sabin led her into. "This... is my residence." he said, gesturing to a plain metal door.
Placing a hand on the door, there was a beeping sound, and it slid open.
Inside, was a wide living area, the lights were dimmed, and Japanese music was playing, though the source of the music was not obvious.
Set out on a table in the middle of the room was a traditional Japanese meal: rice, fish, and stir-fried beef, laid out in separate dishes. There was a pot of tea sitting on the table, and a ceramic holder in warm water with Sake.
Sabin disliked eating in the staff cafeteria - mingling with those he considered inferiors. While Moreau and Aubrey had the mansion, that was one priviledge that Sabin was still barred from visiting without good reason or an escort. And so, Sabin frequently took his meals to his quarters, sitting at the table in the living area, with its plush carpeting, dark decor, and real wood furniture.
Sabin's quarters were his place of retreat away from the sterile labs that clashed with his senses. It had begun as all of the staff rooms did (albeit much larger): unpersonal and more like a hotel room than a home. But, Sabin had seen to fixing that. Now, it was a piece of him that he could surround himself in, and feel as if he were home. Sabin created his own 'den', slowly importing or moving in furniture to give it a more plush and natural, wood feel, as oppposed to the cold, sterile lab environment. He had moved in some of his books, and a grandfather clock, until it felt right. It was precisly as he liked it: without any modern "convenience" out in open display. Unlike his office, which had also had modifications, it lacked a computer or desk phone and the obligatory work-tools. He had likewise applied his... rather archaic decorative touch to it, covered up one of the valuable windows that many of the other staff would have given their left arm to have in their quarters. Additionally, the rest of his collection of statuettes and paintings that weren't selected to be on display in his office.... and books. Lots of books. And of course, he had brought in a large table, some curtains to cover up the nonexistant windows, and decorations.
"Welcome... to my humble abode."

'No,' she shook her head against him, then realised what she was doing. She pulled away, brushing the light dusting of her face paint off his sleeve before composing herself a little. She left the elevator gladly, following him in the little hallway, waiting as the strange door was opened. What was inside; well she'd never been to a patron's home, it wasnt done unless the gentleman was your Danna. And to be inside something that seemed so private..panic set in as she wondered what he was expecting of her that evening. She did appreciate the setting however, liked the old elegance of the furnishings and expressed her approval as best she could. 'It is lovely,' she said, removing her okobo just inside the door, which dropped her height by about 4 inches. She padded inside properly, and drifted around the place, and looked up at the grandfather clock, watching the tall timepiece.

Sabin nodded in interest as she removed her shoes as she entered his domicile, and perhaps sampling some more of the Asian influences, took his black shoes off as well, leaving them by the door.
He clasped his hands behind his back and watched her drift about the room, examining the furnishings. "I'm glad you like it. I've tried to carve out a space that reminds me of home."
"So... you will have to forgive me.... but how is this usually done? Do we sit and chat first.." he gestured to a couch. "Or eat dinner..." He gestured to the table. "Or do you perform first?"

She nodded, understanding that more then anything. 'I try same with my room. I miss my home,' she mumbled, before recovering herself. It wasnt for her to unload her problems on Sabin, she was meant to attend to his needs. At his question she padded over to the table, kneeling down beside it. She used a napkin, wrapping it around the sake bottle and taking it from the water, her sleeves pulled back just enough to reveal the pale flesh of her under arms. With a small gesture borne of countless hours of practice she beckoned Sabin to the table, pouring a measure of the alcoholic drink into a cup for each of them, and held out the one meant for Sabin in her hands. 'Please to sit,' she said. She planned on prolonging her performance as much as possible, hoping that with sake and some time to talk her nerves would leave her enough to dance without making a fool of herself.

"It is only natural." Sabin eased as he followed her beckon towards the table. "Moving is never easy, and it is made more difficult when you move alone. Leaving old friends and loved ones behind and setting out in an unfamiliar setting with the hopes of making new ones... to surround yourself in comfort..."
He settled down and carefully took the proferred cup, bringing it carefully to his lips, all the while keeping his eyes on Sayuri.

'I have made a friend,' she said carefully, flushing under his steady gaze and scrutiny. 'She was nice to me,' she held the cup up towards Sabin; 'Cheers,' and she sipped from it, the liquid lending a pleasant warmth to her. She giggled a little and put the cup back down. 'She was - strange looking,' she continued, curious to see what he would say about her meeting yet another changed person.

Sabin kept his eyes on sayuri as he took his drink, letting the hot liquid run a trail of warmpth - due to temperature and the alcohol - down his throat before setting down the small cup and opening his mouth to speak.
"I am glad to hear that you have made a friend. It is always good to have them." He paused, considering her delicate phrasing of the individual's appearence. "There are many 'strange looking' people here... as I am sure that you have or will discover. But that does not make them any less people. And just like anywhere else, appearences aside, some will be nice and kind... and others will not."

'I like her. She helped me when I was lost in the trees,' Sayuri hiccuped, then picked up the sake bottle, standing and moving around to kneel next to Sabin. 'More?' she asked, holding the bottle slightly tilted. 'She said you are lie.' Sayuri would not give Emerwyn's name away as being her new friend, but she had to try and find something out from Sabin.

"The jungle can be disorienting... after all, it is for the most part a truly natural Jungle. There are animals in there, areas that are hard to navigate, and of course there's miles and miles of it... so you can get lost. So I am glad that someone helped you find your way out."
Sabin took a second sip of the sake, reminding himself to take it easy. He had promised himself a long time ago not to get drunk in public again.
"A little with dinner, perhaps." Sabin answered, while pondering how to approach her final, hesitant inquiry.
"She said I lie? I have not lied to you yet, Sayuri. After all... what is it that a Danna should do? Do I not provide for you a place to live? Food? Fine things..?"

'I am sorry,' she bowed, her head falling forward. Given her seated position and the fact that she felt so much shame, her head almost landed in his lap. 'You have been good to me. I want to understand why people say you are not nice.' How could she have questioned him! Now she would be sent back home, her Okasan would make good on the threat to send her to a bad house.

"It may not be Japanese... nihonjin... but I have read of your customs, and I intend on fullfilling my role in our... relationship, Sayuri. Though you might need to have patience with me as while I have read, the ways of Geisha and Danna are not as second nature to me. Perhaps... it is backwards, that a Geisha instruct her Danna... but many things are different from the norm in this place."
"I am... a big man here on this island." Sabin said carefully, remembering some of the words she had chosen. "And not everyone is ... pleased with their status here. And thus, I am an easy individual to be upset with."
He gestured deliberately towards the dishes that sat in the middle of the table, mimicing some of Sayuri's own gestures. "Now... shall we enjoy a meal together, and lift your mind from the nasty rumors that you have heard?"
