ooh! todd browning's FREAKS!

"One of us, one of us!"

Freaks is awesome! I love Nosferatu (which is public domain and can be found for free on archive.org), the first two Frankenstein films, Dracula with Bela Lugosi, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, and Psycho.

The original Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney is amazing! I love it! And I like the fact that the Phantom truly is crazy and ugly and not mostly handsome and incidentally ugly like in the new film based off the musical.

I don't like most modern horror films because I cannot identify with the main characters. They're just stupid! I spend half the time thinking of how so many of the dumb things that kill them (high heels, uncharged cell phone, not paying attention to the road while driving, etc.) I never would do.

I think a lot of modern films trade suspense, which breeds horror, for gore. Not that a good amount of gore is a BAD thing. wink
