"I know, I know! But Jiiin... I'm hungry! And I don't have any food in my room, and I haven't heard any rules about a curfew yet, so I would think it'd be alright for us to leave the room as long as we're quiet," Edan whispered to the grumbling droid who floated beside him as he slipped through the halls away from his room. It was odd, but after connecting to the Force, he felt, although excited and grinning ear to ear, almost spent and with a growing desire to find food. So, of course, the growing boy opted to follow his growling stomach for a change, still grinning despite the growing popping pains inside him.

How long had it been since he'd gotten a bite to eat? He'd eaten at his sponsor's place, but that had been a while ago, and here... well, the only thing vaguely edible was the bugs, and he sure as heck wouldn't eat those! Unless he was going to die or something, then he might consider making an exception.

Right now though he wasn't in dire need of nutrition, so just walking around until he found the kitchen would work. Wait... hadn't Maki been in a similar situation last time he'd seen her? Huh, kind of odd, but maybe not. Though, as he thought about the purple-haired girl, he began to wonder how her lesson went, if it was simple or hard for her to connect to the Force -sure she was instructed to do it a different way than him, but still. Curiosity found no bounds when dealing with means to acquire a desired end result.

"Ah well, next time I see her, I guess I can- Hey Jin, do you hear that?" The boy paused for a moment, looking around the, he assumed, empty halls as a voice reached his ears, the droid beeping a couple of times before zipping off in the direction of the sound. The boy yelped after him, soon running as quickly, yet softly, as he could to keep up with the rather fast droid and not interrupt the source of the... song?

It was! The closer he got, the more Edan could make out the words, and with it, the voice that made them. Slowing, he peeked around the corner he heard Jin already sending out beeps and whirls in joyous praise to Maki. Smiling, Edan finally detached himself from his mini-hiding spot and gave a small wave of greeting towards the girl. "Maki, hey. Sorry about Jin. We heard a sound -I guess he heard you were singing-, and then he sped off. Though, that was a cool song. Where'd you learn it?"

Yay for quick conversations from an overly curious boy!

Camlan moved quietly down the hallway. He had finished his meditation and was now looking for the kitchen. The Amaran was sure the Masters would not begrudge him eating, after all... It wasn't against the rules.

And he was a very by-the-book person.

His sensitive ears picked up the chatter of two other students. Camlan frowned a little. He still had not made any friends since coming to the Temple. He only really spoke to that strange girl once. He wondered what Lady Naree would do in a time like this....

Moving forward, he decided that if they wanted to talk to him, they could. If not, he would make his way to the kitchens and ask a meal of the staff. He was not a large boy and it would not take much to fill him up.

2J-3P0, a modified protocol droid, shuffled down the stone hall towards the main area. His orange eyes cast an orange glow around him and his metallic limbs scraped the floor as he walked. He brusquely rounded a corner to find wandering student.

His mechanical features betrayed no emotion beyond the disapproval shown through his dimming eye sockets. 2J-3P0 raised his right arm in the student's direction as he shifted his direction.

"Excuse me, little master" the droid shrilled, his high pitched tone echoing off the walls. "I don't believe you'll find anything down that corridor." The droids eyes brightened for a moment as he approached the boy. "I am 2J-3P0, you may call me TooJay. Are you in need of assistance? I am programmed to offer linguistic or navigational aide. I am familiar with over 5,000 languages..." The droid waved his arms wide as he began spitting off his lengthy self introduction.

He stopped when the droid approached him. His golden eyes stared back at the dark orange glow that came from the bot. He cocked his head and listened for a moment.

Camlan did not believe he was in violation of any rules. But then again, the rules seemed to be unspoken in the Temple. Bowing slightly, he spoke in his soft voice. "I can speak in a few languages. I have left my rooms to seek food for I am hungry. TooJay, I have not broken any rules, have I?"

"You have broken no rules as of yet" TooJay chimed in response. "But it is not protocol to have younglings running amok. It would not be beneficial for you to get lost and besides..." The droid paused mid thought as he seemed to search through his programming for correct responses. With a slight twitch, he continued. "This Main hall leads to 23 different rooms that can be accessed through dozens of corridors. It can all be very confusing to navigate. Just now you were heading in the direction of the maintenence room-- not exactly where food for a humanoid can be found." The droid paused again. "The double temples do make the layout complex-- that is why you were provided with a holomap located inside your portable datapad. Such extensive information is obviously to much for the tiny brains of organic beings and must be left up to us droids to store and compute." Though the droid's mechanical features did not change, his glowing eyes and upturned head indicated a trace of pride and arrogance.

Foodie Foodie.” Maki muttered softly to herself, as she reached up on the top of her tiptoes the best that she could. If she was a few inches taller, then maybe she would have been able to find something to eat, but from the looks of it, she wasn’t having any luck at all. Hearing a sound behind her, she turned around quickly to see Edan and Jin inside the kitchen with her. Looking up at the droid, Maki felt herself grin even more than normal. It was really exciting for Maki right now, since he was hopefully able to get her food to eat. That was her plan at least, but hearing his question, she got distracted too quickly. “Ah, Tis Jin. Is Chu hungry too? ” Maki said with a smile, as she looked up at the spinning form of Jin. The little droid was adorable and spinning around her, seeing to be excited about the song that she was singing.

As her eyes moved back to where Edan was standing, She looked surprised as he appeared. “I’sa didn’t see you there. Oh, the song?” She muttered, thinking on where she heard it. “Let’s see.. We use to sing it as a bed time song back at the shop. A few of the older ladies sung me to sleep, since mi mom wasn’t there. So, whenever I’ma bored I often sing it.” She said with a steady nod of hear head.

But, thinking more, she turned to the two of them with her hands behind her back. “If Chu wants, I can teach ya some songs. They are’a lots of fun to sing.” She muttered with a smile, waiting to learn if he wanted to hear them.

The red-head let out a nervous chuckle when Maki said she 'didn't see him there', immediately coming to the conclusion he didn't have a very demanding presence. Which, the more he thought about it, really wasn't that bad; at least he knew he'd be able to slip in and out of crowds if necessary in the future. A strange train of thought for some, but then, his mind couldn't help but linger on the future at the moment.

Though the droid's beeping in his ear was definitely a good anchor to the present. That, and how funny her words sounded when taken into context. "Droids don't eat, at least not him. But... yeah, I think if he could, he would be hungry right about now, huh, Jin?" The woeful confirming beeps sent a broadening smile spiraling across the boy's face. Such a funny, over dramatic droid.

Turning back to Maki, he listened to her explanation behind the song's origin and nodded in acknowledgment, an action that quickly turned to a hasty acceptance when she offered to teach them some songs. Music wasn't a stranger to him, though the boy'd never tried his voice beyond a few muffled phrases of the sweet melodies his mother would weave as she worked sometimes or that his father and brother would hum and chant as they toiled away in the fields. But they were always farming, homey songs, never anything as foreign as cantina songs. "Sure! If you wouldn't mind teaching us, that is. They do sound fun." The classic, hopeful, friendly grin was plastered to his face, Jin's whirls and beeps a sign of agreement as he bounced in the air between them, equally excited about learning a new tune and lyrics to record into his databank. They were always so much fun to play back later, after all.

Maki looked dumbly as Edan explained how Jin didn’t eat. Of course she knew that Jin was a droid, at least she tried to remember that the very best that she could. She was just so hungry that she was forgetting what was humanoid and what was a droid. ”I’ma sorry… I forgot that Jin wasn’t a human.” She said softly, turning to face the droid as she bowed her head. ”I’ma very sorry Jin, I won’t do it again. Although.. I’m sure if chu was a human you’ll be eating a lot as well.” She said with a laugh, although she was kind of forgetting the fact that she wasn’t fully human either. But, that never bothered her that much.

As Edan responded to want to learn the song, Maki grabbed his hands in excitement. ”Chu really wants to learn it? I’ma so excited! I know that chu’ll get it quite easy!” She said, as her eyes closed. She was almost to the point of jumping up and down with a bright smile on her face. But, after a few moments she calmed down and let out a deep sign.

”O’tay! How shall we start.” She wondered out loud as she moved to lean against the wall behind her. After figuring out the starting tone, she turned to Edan and Jin. ”It starts like this: Little star, So far away, seeking to bring new dreams.” She sung it very softly in an almost angelically tone. Maybe that was good benefit of being part Theelin, they were able to sing and entertain quite well compared to other species. Only a few were better, in Maki’s mind, then Theelin's of the legends. ”Now both of you sing that.” She said, grinning at them.

Camlan looked down, eyes filled with tears. He was more sensitive than most and though the droid's tone was not really harsh, to hear reproach in it made Camlan sad.

"I am sorry. I don't remember getting a datapad. I will search my rooms when I get back. Could you...could you please lead me to the kitchens?'

His ears perked up and twitched as he heard a soft piping voice coming from around the hallways. Curious, he looked at TooJay and then bowed. Edging back slowly, Camlan kept his large golden eyes on the droid.

"I think I hear people I know. Thank you for the information... I will see you again." And with that he headed towards the sounds he heard.

He blinked, suddenly realizing his comment about Jin's "species" could have been easily taken the wrong way, hands flying up in apology as Jin himself beeped and clicked in agreement with the boy's rushed, laughing words, "It's nothing to apologize about Maki! You're right though, I could definitely see Jin being a big eater if he could." Jin himself seemed to almost puff himself up, even though it was physically impossible for the droid to do so, as he tilted back in his hovering position.

However, both males' attentions were diverted quickly enough from the possible offense they might have caused, both obviously almost overly excited about learning the songs. Edan happily gripped her hands back when she grabbed them, not at all finding a fault in the friendly actions. But soon his hands grasped another behind his back and listened intently did he as she began the song. His ears caught the flow of the melody, the rise and fall of her voice over the lyrics.

When she encouraged them to try, Jin and Edan exchanged a "You first" look before the human swallowed and slowly began to sing.

"Little star, So far away, seeking to bring new dreams," came his light voice, shaking slightly from sudden nervousness at the fact he was actually singing. The sound of his voice was hardly the best, if anything it was awkward sounding as if caught between one never meant to carry a tune in a bucket and one with possible potential if utilized correctly; a strange mix that caught the ten year-old off guard and lit a small fire of color in his cheeks.

The droid himself seemed to fair a bit better, softer tones of beeps and whirls and clicks melting into a gentle flow of whistles that were light to the ears and pleasant to listen to. Edan smiled though, almost envious of the mechanical ability to manipulate the sounds and vocals the tiny droid could produce. "He's definitely better than me, that's for sure," he grinned when Jin'd finished the line, soon bobbing up and down at the obvious compliment.

The sound of footsteps made the red-head blink, turning to gaze out the kitchen towards the sounds. Were the masters up and walking around? Were they to get in trouble? A paling thought, to be sure, though he simply stood dumbly and waited. After all, it could just be another one of the students looking for food -it was a common trend after all, or so it seemed-, so why be worried? If it was the masters well... then one could worry then, now couldn't they?

Yes, that was a sensible plan. At least in his head it was, anyways.

Watching as Jin and Edan sang along to the simple first line, Maki couldn’t help but feel excitement escape from her body. It seemed that they really wanted to have fun and sing these different songs, although it was a lot different than what they were use to. Also, neither of them sung that badly. Of course Jin sounded really good, copying every note exactly and straight to the point. It really did impress Maki, as she crossed her arms behind her back.

”Chu both sing good, with a very nice tone.” She muttered with a nod of her head, ”I’ma glad that Jin can sing so very good! Chu makes me sound like I can’t sing.” She responded with a loud laugh, as she turned to look over at where a strange sound was. ”Did Chu hear that? She asked over to Edan, as the curiosity in Maki seemed to gain control of her.

It was easy to sing, and they could do it anytime that they wanted to. But, that sound they could either find right now, or never figure out what it was.

”Edan, let’s go and find out what that was! Maybe it’sa Vermeer!” She said excitedly, turning over to him and grabbing the male’s hand. For some reason, she had already thought that Edan was one of her close friends, so she was fine with dragging him behind her. Moving towards the noise, she turned just in time to see a red fox-looking child standing there. Looking at him, Maki must have had a look of surprise on her face. ”Who is’a chu?” She asked excitedly to him, maybe he was a new student at the academy?

A young lethan twi'lek girl entered the building, looking around slightly confused. She didn't have much with her; a big bag hanging from her shoulder, and a round aquarium with a few fishes, which she was practically hugging. Yes, she was told it could be sent for her, but she wasn't going to let go of such cute gift easily!
This was completely new experience to her. She was used to loud, crowdy places, smelling of alcohol. Her mother worked in one, as a dancer. She also was to, if that jedi man didn't found her...
...just what am I supposed to do here...?
Then he took her to the Master. He told her to call him that. His name was Aisheel Xaan, and he was the most beautiful man she ever seen. He was also very nice.
But she could feel, that he could grow ice cold in seconds if he wanted to.
He explained to her that he'd love her to keep him company, but the jedi man already arranged her movement to the temple.
So here she was, looking around, and not knowing what to do with herself now. How nice.

Camlan blinked his large golden eyes and stared at the girl, boy and droid before him. He vaguely remembered them from class but wasn't sure wha to say. The amaran placed his hands behind his back and shuffled his feet.

"I'm Camlan. I heard you singing and so I followed. But before that I was hungry and I ran into TooJay." Camlan flicked his tail and hugged it close to him. He wasn't scared exactly, more nervous that he would say or do something wrong.

"It was a really nice song... Do you know the way to the kitchen?"
PostPosted: Fri Jun 08, 2007 8:38 pm

Jin whirled happily at Maki's complement, beaming at her words. Edan himself only smiled, also happy with her comment though finding Jin's and his reactions all the more amusing. It was so strange to see a ball of metal and wires being so... lively. The boy was almost shamed in his own lack of overly outgoing nature. Kind of embarrassing, really.

"Well, we've got a good teacher," he grinned to her, nodding his head to her in a show of respect, if only in a slightly playful notion. But the song was to be forgotten, as he should have expected upon hearing the other coming. Like before, he took no care when she grabbed his hand once more and this time lead him down the hall towards the other being. Relieved to see it wasn't one of the masters, the human was soon floored by how odd this being -boy, he quickly assumed- looked. He was... he looked like an animal, though when he started to speak Edan was completely dumbfounded by the fact he spoke perfect Basic.

He blinked a few times, realizing how rude he was being, never mind the obvious skittish nature of the one before him. No one could blame him, of course, so why make things worse and be rude? Edan grinned his signature friendly smile, offering his free hand to the furry child. "Hi Camlan, I'm Edan, and this is Maki. We were just at the kitchen, actually. We could take your there if you'd like.

"You too, if you'd like something to eat," he called to the Twi'lek, stepping away from Maki just enough to see beyond the fox-boy to where the girl was standing. "You must be new, too. Welcome to the temples."

So many new students... it was amazing! Not to mention a rather ingenious way to bring a brighter and brighter smile to his face. It was good to see others so willing to come here, to learn the ways of the Jedi and even the Sith; and considering none held any grudges against one another yet, peace was all that he'd yet to find here. It was... a relief.

Pala blinked, surprised at the sudden calling. Was he talking to her? Or was she just imagining things..?
She took a few whiles to carefully look around, but didn't notice anyone waving hands or walking towards the boy...so she looked at him again, carefully took one hand off the aquarium, and pointed at herself, question mark almost flowing around her head.
