yes, lol :p It wasn't a very easy thing. That's interesting that you were converted after you got married but yet was raised methodist. Which do you like better? I will admit...feeling the Holy Spirit's pressence is am amazing thing. Can you speak in tongues?

I'll admit I was a bit weary when my husband told me about the whole pentecostal thing. What changed my mind was actually when I got the Holy Ghost and started praying in tongues. I was just laying at home praying for my son and then all the sudden BAM. My husband had prayed for me in tongues before so I wasn't totally taken off gaurd, but it was a pretty extreme experience.

Methodist came down from Church of England. They have alot of the same core beliefs and ceremony but they don't have as much ceremony as say the episcopals thought their beliefs are very similar.
Pentecostal started in the early 20th century and is most recognized by speaking in tongues which is evidence of the Holy Ghost. This is scriptually backed by the 2nd chapter of Acts and various other verses.
The pentecostal church has many different sects, but primarally the "oneness" pentecostals and the "trinity" pentecostals. Trinity's beliefs are very alligned with mainstream Christianity in that they believe in the "Godhead, three in one" idea. Oneness believe that instead of a "Father, Son, Holy Ghost" there is simply God and all of his many, many manifestations are God. It's really hard to explain, and I can't do that great of a job, but that's the main split.
There is a United Pentecostal Church and they have "standards" essentially that women can not wear pants, or cut their hair and men can't wear shorts or have facial hair. Again ,these things are scriptually sound, but the UPC tends to take things a bit far in the name of holiness.
Because of some sex scandals eek within the ministry, alot of churches have fallen away from the "pentecostal" lable and now call themselves "nondenominatioal" or "Charismatic". For example. my chuch is called "Tabernacle of Praise".
The "Charismatic" label is not entirly acurate because it technically means people who came out of the Catholic church, were filled with the Holy Ghost by evidence of tongues, and formed their own church.
sweatdrop Wow.

I'm non-denomenatioanl. I hate labels and typicly don't agree with many church teachings, backed or unbacked. I simply beleive that christ was the only begotten son of God nand died for every one.

I"M BEING REPRESSED!! gonk scream Psh, that's only because the dirty heathens were trying to leave us and teach heresy. ninja In all seriousness though, it's not like Catholics are the only ones to ever oppress another religion, or be discriminated against. Protestant pastors have done some strange and bad things in the past, but what do you hear about? ***** Priests. One of the Queens of England did some very unChristian things to Catholics living in England, but what do you hear about? The Spanish Inquisition. Heck, the Salem witch trials weren't exactly done by Catholics.

know what they all have in common?
they were all done by humans. here's a shocker for you, even christians aren't perfect and tend to screw stuff up. hardcore. human is human, saved or not, and since we're all made of the same stuff, we're all prone to error. Those kind of acts have all been done before by non christians as well. In fact, just about any religion out there has people in it that do horrible things in the name of their religion.

I just get tired of people saying, "OMG, teh Catholics are horrible! What about the Spanish Inquisition???"

i think you're joking, but if you aren't, there's nothing in the bible that justifies humans creating an army in the name of christ. The people responsible for that were clearly acting in their own best interests and disreguarding the teachings of scripture.
