I check out books from my library all the time. We have a great selection of reference books, adult books, a nice size teen section, a huge kid section for my littlest brother, and a rather decent collection of manga.

We actually have 2 libraries in town, one large main branch and a smaller one in the mall. The mall branch has mostly adult books and anime and manga.

There is also an online site where you can reserve books from 6 other libraries in Maryland and have them delivered to which ever one you want.

It honestly depends on book size and its age, I refuse to buy Of Mice and Men because its size and price(I'm over exaggerating but i'm not paying $15 for a book I can read in 45 minutes)

If I bought every book that I read, I would be out of space to put any of my other belongings. That said, the library is my best friend.
Even with all the late fees I get (I am always late getting things back, despite living within walking distance of the library....) it still ends up being much cheaper than actually buying the novels.

I love the library, i'm too poor to buy books D:

Also, if I do buy books and don't want them anymore or something, I just have my mom list them on swaptree.com Its an awesome site that you can list the books you have and trade them for other books that other people have. Its always fun seeing what books gonna be in the mail next. :]

All the time. I'm a regular at my library. Although lately I haven't done so because there's nothing new really. ^^;;
But I love libraries. Quiet and filled with books, what more could you want?

I do and I love it. You can read a book first to see if you will like it or not before running the risk of spending lots of money on something you won't enjoy.

Yes I agree. Books can be expensive, but there is the problem that not all of a particular series in at one library(there is 3 where I live)

I had that problem so many times when I used my local library. It's one of the reasons I stopped going there. If I was lucky there was another library that would loan my library the books it was missing so I could finish a series, but more often than not I had to buy books anyway. And then because I couldn't stand to just look at select books from a series so I'd end up buying even the books I had read at the library.

Every time I borrow a book, unfortunate things happen and I have to turn them in late. Then I owe a huge fine...

.::I love the library::.
it has just undergone a change, its a huge cooperation, meaning that the users can send for books across the country if their library doesnt have it.
Meaning ill get access to a whole load of new books X3 -squee-

But my economy doesn't allow me to by all the books i read, neither does my living space .__.
instead i use the library, and there is this used games, movies and book store, and the books are mad cheap, i can get 5 books in that store for the price of one in the usual bookstore...

i come from sweden so the currency here is Kronor, 10kronor is somewhat like a dollar. Last time i bought a book i got it for 4Kronor, and in the bookstore it cost 69Kronor, that is what i call a bargain :3

God I lived at the library almost literally for a long time. I used to work there so I would stay after and read and I'd read while I worked (not supposed to but oh well) and man it was fun. No time any more though working my donkey off at school so I can graduate. crying

That's what I do too. I borrow a lot of books and return them a few days later. The librarians glare at me every time I walk in. sweatdrop

I buy books, but I definitely use my local library. I work part-time at a library, so it would be sad if I didn't use it. Since working there, I have decided to become a librarian. I am a member of 5 libraries, and I always have a stack of library books beside my bed. xd

The library I work at sends for books! It's called an Inter Library Loan (ILL). It's been harder for us to do it lately, since the huge library in the next county over won't send books anymore because of the cost of shipping.
