Well, I think the reason people hate Kairi is because both Sora and Riku compete for her love in the first KH. I think Sora and Riku fans (such as myself [Riku only]) hate Kairi because they both liked her.
And they Sora fans probably hate her, because Sora still loves Kairi. Another reason may be because Kairi's clothes in KH2 are kind of...short. eek (At least, I think they're short!) Most Riku fans probably don't hate Kairi as much in KH2, because you can tell Riku doesn't like her anymore...for some...odd reason. (But a GOOD thing!)
Other than that, I'm not sure why people hate Kairi. Good question.

I've hated her ever since that cutscene with her and Sora in the first game. Just kidding? Sure. What a load of bull.
She's fine in the second game (I don't have a problem with her outfit), but the "I'll save you, Sora!" scene made me laugh.
And then there's the me adoring Namine factor. That just might be part of it. xD;

I dont think shes a goody good at all or anything like that.
I think shes a great character for KH!

 Honestly, I don't like Kairi, but I don't really know why... I guess cuz in the first game she wasn't in it enough, and in the second one, I just found her annoying... SoraxKairi = love, though. ninja

To me and a few of my friends, Kairi's a pretty cool character, though as someone said, that twenty-foot-leap-to-save-Sora that ended in her getting swamped by Heartless was a bit stupid. But still, Kairi did get rid of some Heartless with that Keyblade of hers.
Yes, there are Kairi-haters, I know a few of them. For some, they're Sora-fangirls, and for others, they've told me that they think Kairi caused the fight between Sora and Riku--whereas I would say, "If it weren't for that, then there really wouldn't be much of Kingdom Hearts."
But all in all, Kairi's cool--and she's pretty, especially in the second game.
So--yeah.

Personally I think that she is just a sweet girl that got caught in the middle of a predicament that wasn't her fault, nobody should hate her, she is fictional after all razz
