Um, that's very interesting . . . May seems to not acknowledge the existence of second flutes. Today we played high B and it was naturally out of tune. So he tuned the first flutes, then forgot about the rest of us. Oh, and he was handing out books. He gave one book to the first flutes, and didn't realize we didn't have one 'til we told him. crying I wish we could have ducks in class. Oh yeah, I hate lyres as well. They are big liars. *insert rimshot*

In the bands that I've been in, I've noticed that flute players and percussionist tend to hang out.... a lot. I don't know why. I've known a good number of flute players who were on the drumline or pit durring marching season, dated percussionist, or just spent entirely too much time with the drummers. Anyone elses flute section like that?

Well, my best friend is a percussionist. XD She rules. But most of my band friends are all sax players. Which is part of the reason I'm on sax for pep band. I'd never play percussion - I suck at reading rhythms. >.< Most of the flute players in my band seem to hang out with either each other or the clarinet players - for the most part, the people in both of said sections are fairly dizty and whatnot, which is probably why. x_x;; I'm the odd one out - that's why I hang out with the saxes! XD

-edit- Also the oboes/obi (love it Keltzy!)
-edit # 2- I'm an idiot and it wasn't till today... I realized that I had mallets twice... augh.. HowI stupid can I get... ehhehheh... ^^;;

I hang our with other flutes, obi (more than one oboe) and our tuba, and a trumpet and bass clarinet. The flutes in my section that I don't hang out with, hang out with other flutes, clarinets, and a tenor sax girl. Hmm, I'm not entirely too fond of percussion. I mean, I like the percussion in wind ensemble, but two freshmen percussionists (who really play bassoon and upright bass) make me want to kill them. But I want to kill first flutes in my band more! Grrr.

@ Hanging Gallow: I totally agree with you about the piccollo love because it annoys everyone else. Personally I don't think it's very high, since I'm so used to hearing it every single time we practice. And then one of the non-flutes is all "How do you find that not piercingly loud" And I laugh at them. Heheh. >3

I'm back, I feel strangly homicidal. Hmm. Me needs counciling me thinks. But the prep strings program in my town decided they wanted to make their best youth orchestra into a symphony, so I'm playing with orchestra once a week. I get to be first flute (thankfully!) Because the other two don't want to. YAY!! Hmm, there's a girl from another town, and a boy from our symphonic band, and I was unusually talkative. I was happy. But then I had to deal with first flutie in band and now I'm mad. Then May decided that he isn't going to give us a chair test 'til after our first concert. scream scream scream

I'm in Intro. to Brass and Woodwinds. Everyone else in my class started off playing the flute and started to get light-headed everyday. hehe. When they were finished they had a new respect for flute players yay! One guy wanted to keep the flute he was using. smile
