Feather nodded, taking her cue, and filled the two toddlers in on the story of the play so far.

"Do we get to wear SHINY stuff?!" Alex blurted out suddenly, clambering onto Feather and nuzzling into her arms. "Like, armor and stuff? Shine shiny yay!!" He quivered happily, "Maybe Waven could be afwaid to fly, which is why she couldn't escape, then I could help hew! SHINY SHINY FLY!"

Bird blinked. "... That's an excellent idea!"

Raven had been clapping and cheering and wriggling.. but went a tad bit whiter in the face again at the mentioning of flying. She gluped a bit, voicing a question. "Do... do I hafta' fly in it?"

"Aw...only for a wittle bit, Waven!" Alex replied in a tone he hoped would be reassuring, climbing over Feather and settling himself next to Raven. "Besides, I could kinda teach you how to fly while we're acting!"

Raven squirmed, hands folded in her lap, feeling uncomfortable. "O... okay," she agreed uneasily. After her last attempt to fly, Raven had become much more wary on the subject. Flying reminded her not of the first try but the last, and the latter conjured up the memory of pain. But, she trusted Alex, and gave him a small smile.

... Which quickly turned sour. "Do I hafta wear a dress?" she whined.

"Yeah...but..." Alex's voice trailed off as he peered to his mother, searching her face for some hint as to what he should say next.

She looked encouraging, and gestured for him to just make up something.

"Dresses are...pretty! Yeah! And you'll get to wear some flutterboo wings, too! They're both really sparkly and...pretty!" The boy scratched the back of his head, hoping he sounded convincing. A damsel in distress play simply wouldn't work if the damsel wouldn't wear a dress!

Raven look unconvinced. Her arms were loosely crossed over her chest in a pout.

"But... but..."

"Raven," Bird interjected, "remember those books Miss DiYanni sent you? And the story about the princess?" Raven blinked and nodded her head. "Do you remember what the princess was wearing?"

"... Ah... an upside down umbrella?"

"A dress," she continued, disregarding the sarcastic comment. "Now, you can wear whatever you like underneath the dress, just as long as you wear it."

The toddler threw a curious look at her Momma, turning to Alex's mom instead. "Why's a princess always gotta wear a dress?" she said quizzically.

"Because well uh..." Feather's eyes darted around the room frantically, in an effort to buy her some time. What kind of question was THAT?

Alex chimed in immediately, sensing his mother's distress. "Because princesses are pretty...and...so are dresses! So then the princess is twice as pretty!"

A relieved smile spread across Feather's face as she relaxed, leaning back against the couch. "Of course, Alex! Nicely put! Pretty girls should wear pretty clothes, Raven!"

Alex nodded furiously.

Raven threw a dubious look. "But... Waven's not pretty," she said. Nobody'd ever described her as pretty, and she hadn't realized that pretty and beautiful meant the same thing. She blinked a few times, cocking her head to the side. "So... Waven doesn't need to wear a dress to make her pretty pretty," she concluded.

"Yes she is!! You'-"

Alex cut in to Feather's sentence a second time, and though it wasn't exactly expected, the girl allowed him to continue:

"Waven's EXTWEMELY pretty! Waven's the prettiest Eden there is! ...Fiddle, she doesn't even need a dress to look beautifuw!" Alex took a daring step forward, a sad sense of franticness clear on his face.

Though she admired Alex's boldness, Feather still smacked her forehead in dismay. NOW they were back to square one!

Raven blinked very wide eyes, taken aback. "... Waven's pwetty?" she said. "I ish pwetty?"

A smile that outshone the sun.

"Okay!" she said brightly. Bird's jaw surley would've dropped to the ground if it hadn't been connected to her face. Raven picked herself up and delivered an enourmous hug to Alexander, not knowing how else to express her grattude.

"But... no shoes," she bartered. "Flutterboos don't wear shoes."

"Hm...okay!" Feather nodded, hiding her own amazment as she was scribbling down a few more notes for reference.

Alex hugged Raven back, smiling warmly. "Of course you are, Waven!"

The Eden's mother stood up, pocketing the small notepad and stretching a bit. "Well...I think we'd ought to be going now. Alex and I have a lot to work out, and we'll go shopping later for some fabric to make the costumes with! We'll be back tomorrow!"

Alex's smile faded as he reluctantly let go of Raven, and slowly backed away.

"Bye..." He murmured, turning around and following his mother out of the door and into the street.

((I figured now would be a good time to end day one...maybe we can continue tomorrow? <3))

Raven gave Alex one last squeeze before parting and saying her farewell.

"Bye! See you... later, I guess," Bird called, waving. She took a glance around. "Well, I s'pose we should be going now, Rave. We'll think up more stuff when we get home, okay?"

Raven's expression brightened, and she nodded vigorously. "T'mowwow!"

(x3 Yes'm. Sounds like a plan to me~)

Raven examined the sparkling object stationed in front of her with didstain, in no hurry to touch it-- or wear it, for that matter.

It was a... tiara, her mother had said. "Something princesses wear," she had explained.

The toddler wrinkled her nose, squirming back to put more distance between herself and the sparkling... thing. It was such a cumbersome annoyance.

Bird was in the other room of the HQ (.. we are there, right? xD;; ), running though some pictures of dresses. She had suddenly remembered, which was very, very odd behavior for her mother, Raven had noted, how to use a sewing machiene, and had borrowed a friend's. She was on a bloody sewing frenzy.

Raven sighed, cuddling Nana close, absently wondering when Alexander would come.

"ALEXANDER THE KNIGGHHT!! YEAHYEAH!!" Alexander burst through the doors of the HQ, a shining suit of armor made of plastic adorning his small chest. "Where ish Pwincess Waven...?"

Feather followed after her enthusiastic boy, tripping over her own feet several times in the process. "I think it was a mistake to give him part of his costume before the actual play..." She groaned, smacking her forehead in dismay.

"He's been shouting all day!"

Raven politely covered her mouth-- Bird had been trying to stick manners into her brain --as she giggled, Alexander amusing her to no end.

Bird stuck her head out from the kitchen doorway, grinning like a madman. "Hi, Feather! And, might I just say, that is a very becoming suit," she nodded toward Alexander. "I'm still trying to help Raven decide on her costume."
