Doktor.Mark Greetings from the Interior. My name is Mark, and I AM a Creationist. I'm not a flamer, so I do not expect anybody to harass me either. I look forward to upcoming discussion and debate. I can already tell that there are probably more anti-creationists here (hence the title) No matter....This shall be interesting. I just wanted to say hi to everybody, and I hope that no matter what each of you believe, we can all keep it together in a civilized manner. We're not here to bash other people's beliefs (This goes to both Christians, and Atheists [anti-creationists]) We're here to share our thoughts. One thing I should mention...I don't think that everybody should come to table with absolute 100% certainty that what they think is right...well, I mean...I think that the Bible is 100% right, but my point is, I am willing to listen to YOUR theories, and not just throw my hands up in the air, roll my eyes, and scoff every time an anti-creationist opens their larynx. I am prepared to listen to YOU, and not always be flapping my gums. It's been a pleasure to say hi, and I hope I'll get to know people a whole lot better. Are planning to run for the office of some elected official? Because you sound like a candidate.

Thank you for that nice comment, but no, I do not think that I will be running any time soon for any particular office.

Ah, nice to meet ye, Mark. Even though I haven't been debating about this much recently, I've noticed that every creationist I've seen is, well, full of incorrect facts and misconceptions about the theory of Evolution, almost certainly taught to them by religious groups, which adds to their already established intolerance of anything that sounds like it conflicts with their religious beliefs.
So, I'm wonderin' what viewpoint you're coming from? Is it that you see a flaw in evolution, or that you see a flaw in evidence for an 'old' earth?
I suggest you ask specific questions about these things, if you do. Also, might wanna read some of the articles on the links page?
PS You really do sound like you're running for office.

Shadroth, I have recently responded to one of your messages. Just wondering in a positive way...Is it a bad thing to sound like I'm running for office?

Doktor.Mark Just wondering in a positive way...Is it a bad thing to sound like I'm running for office? How can you wonder in a negative way, eh? Uh, no, it's not bad, I just think it's funny. Welcome.

You post sounded a little like you were running for office in that it was very formal, and used a lot of positive words... It's just funny really.

I just didn't want to sound like I was attacking anyone....and yes I suppose it is kind of "funny" - the way I spoke in that introductory forum. I hold true to my words though.

Karasene Then the question becomes how do you convince bible thumpers to come to an ANTI-Creationist guild. We need not bible thumpers but those who would try and convert our mindset. More long the lines of a missionary. Agreed... It is better to debate with those against us with intelligence than argue amongst ourselves about the particulars of our belief BTW : hi everyone

Doktor.Mark We're not here to bash other people's beliefs (This goes to both Christians, and Atheists [anti-creationists]) In the future please do not refer to Anti-Creationists as Atheists. Just because you don't believe the Earth is under 10,000 years old and was started by two people in a magical garden, does not mean you believe there is no God. Just a tip for future posts.

well hi everyone... I joined because I asked to. It looks like a nice place, it's even rather active. Very cool. However, I must say that Gaia has changed. This is one of the main reasons I joined this place: To get away from aimspeaking retards, 12 year olds, and find more of the 19 year old geniuses who used to attack me wherever I went in ED.
Any particular thread in here that you recommend?

Hello all i asked to join mainly because not to long ago my humble little town was flooded with Creationists i even talked to some them.Needless to say it was a disapointing experance. It was after that i understood how someone could go and have a life even without any brains what so ever. Thanks for letting me join.

And for the records, I'm a Christian who believes the universe is roughly 4 trillion years old, and that creatures evolved to survive in their environment, humans included. Humans are a kind of ape. I am an ape, and proud of it! biggrin

Fiver Hey there. smile I'm new to this guild, and may be a little slow in starting. Any tips for getting involved? Welcome. The best thing I can suggest to get involved in guild activities is to keep your eyes open for creationists attempting to pass on their beliefs as facts. To challange them whenever and wherever you find them. To point out the flaws in their arguments, and generally to not allow them to spread their dogma unchallanged. Help with that can be found here, feel free to ask questions, and for advice.

Ah. I thought it was going to be in-guild chat, but this makes sense... I've never really run into someone trying to argue religion over science on Gaia before, though.
