The sound had reached his ears, but for a moment, it was hard to tell where it was coming from. Monochrome eyes searched the area once more before the boy looked up, spotting a figure on the archway.
Mayu?
It didn't take him much longer to reach the arch, shaking his head a little bit as he nearly tripped right out of the crowd. Waving his arms in an attempt to attract attention to himself, he called out to her.
"Mayu!! Down here!"

Aha, so the "scream and attract attention" tactic had worked! It had attracted a few strange looks, but at least she had found Demare.
Hopping off of the platform quickly, she smoothed out her skirt and looked up towards the arch.
"Meet here if we lose each other again, okay?" she said quickly, which was a smart idea, because the crowds were getting thicker by the second. She couldn't help but wonder if there was some special event being held on that day, that had made all of these people gather in a hurry.
"Um.. H&R Wesley is just down the street and around the corner," Mayu said, pointing a finger in its relative direction. "Link arms?" she asked, not wanting to be separated again, even if they did have a meeting spot.

Demare nodded to both instructions, carefully linking his arm around hers, blushing slightly.
"I wonder what's going on today," he said aloud idly. "I've never seen so many people on the streets before. Barton has never been anything like this, from what I've seen."

Mayu shrugged, then mused out loud. "Maybe there's something special happening today? I didn't hear anything about it. But all I can say is that I've never seen the streets so crowded before, even though Durem is a pretty crowded city."
She murmured a few other theories to herself, then tugged on Demare's arm gently as she began to take the lead once again.

Demare thought about that for a moment. What would be happening on a Saturday? Today wasn't anything special, as far as he knew, but perhaps he was wrong. Then again, this was the weekend, and he hardly ever went out much during that time. Maybe it was always crowded on this day.
Cautiously, as if to ensure that their arms would stay linked and they wouldn't be seperated again, the halfling entwined his fingers with Mayu's, blushing only slightly as he held her hand.
"What kind of a store is... H&R Wesley?" he asked curiously, having never been there himself before.

Mayu navigated through the crowd easily, knowing the path by heart. She tugged on Demare's hand occasionally, making sure that he had not gotten lost in all of the commotion.
"They sell clothes and stuff, I guess." She hadn't been to the store in a while, and tried to recall just exactly what kind of things the shop sold. "They have.. costumes, normal clothes, hats, that sort of stuff."
Seeing a large rush of people coming up from the left flank, she ran ahead and yelled over the crowd, "Brace yourself!"
Perhaps it had been a bad move. Mayu jumped up, trying to see over the dense clusters of people. Had she lost Demare again in this mess?

A clothing store? ...Why was Mayu taking him to a clothing store...? Idly, he wondered if it would be anything like the Depot. As Mayu announced the coming crowd and released his hand, he frowned slightly as he lost sight of the girl. It wasn't that hard, after all, her being as small as she was. They'd already gone through this once, though... His eyes caught a glimpse of a sign attached to a building just up ahead.
H&R Wesley...
Oh! That was it! Demare trudged his way through the sea of people, heading toward the building. On the way, he watched out for Mayu, hoping the spot the tree girl at least by the time he got there.

Hurriedly, Mayu manuvered around the crowd with agility, hopping up every once in a while to catch sight of nearby buildings and signs. She knew the map of Durem by heart, and could tell her location in the town by spotting something as simple as a bulletin board.
"I should be at H&R Wesley in approximately two minutes if I follow this trail," she mumbled to herself, and continued walking with the thick flow of people. "Aha.. here it is!"
After a moment of pushing and shoving, she was finally spewed out of the continuous flow of traffic and spun a few times before crashing into the winged boy. She got out a small "I'm okay", before wavering to the ground. After her vision had cleared, she got to her feet once again and opened the door of the shop, waving an arm at the racks upon racks of merchandise.
"Here we are!" she proclaimed, proudly. "H&R Wesley!" Grabbing a maid headband off of a nearby shelf, she placed it on Demare's head and stood back, taking in the full picture.
"You look good," she said, snickering.
The middle-aged man sitting behind the counter quirked a brow, watching the kids with little interest. Just what he needed, rambunctuous kids to jump-start his day.

Demare nearly fell over as the girl bumped right into him, a bit concerned as she staggered on her feet for a moment. She seemed to be okay, however, as she quickly recovered and made her way into the store. Following behind her, he stopped at the door, gawking at what he saw.
Beautiful dresses, expensive looking suits, pricey shoes... That was that store Neko liked to go to when she was shopping for something FANCY. Why would Mayu want to go here? Unless, of course, she was a little more girly than she'd let on before. Maybe she just liked the nice dresses...
His thoughts were interrupted as something was placed on his head, the bunny hat having been removed. He quirked a brow, wondering why his friend was laughing. What was it? What did he look good in?
Peering at a reflective surface not too far away, his face turned red with blush as he noticed the headband. W-what was she doing?!
"B-but... why..." he stammered, but couldn't form a complete sentance. He was here to cheer her up, after all. Maybe... this was something that would help. He didn't want to ruin her mood, so he shut his mouth, fiddling with the hat in his hands. Oh God... He just knew this was going to lead into something REALLY bazzar...

Mayu looked around the shop before stopping at another rack, making note of some shirts she would have to ask Kimiko to buy for her later. She migrated to a shelf on the wall, observing some of the frily dresses.. then, got a devious idea.
"Hey, Clare, could you come over here for a sec?" she asked, obstructing the view of the french maid dress behind her on the wall. She wasn't a fan of cross-dressing, really, but the lack of food had done some strange things to her head. Some devilishly brilliant things, depending on who's being asked.

The child was almost afraid to, but he did as he was asked, stepping over to the tree girl a little reluctantly. She was hiding something... He knew that she was.
"Y-yes?" he questioned, trying to peer at what was behind her back. He couldn't see anything.

"Would you.." Mayu looked down, blushing with red. "...wear this?" She pulled out the scarily tight-looking spandex dress from behind her back, frills and all. Not waiting for an answer, she put on her best pair of puppy eyes and batted her eyelashes.
"Pleeease?" she begged, placing the lace-edged thing in the boy's arms. "I want to.. erm, wear it to a.. costume party, yes! But I want to see how it looks on someone else before I try it on myself.."
It was an obvious lie, but Mayu hoped that she could at least fool Demare for the moment. "Pleeease?" she pleaded, then buried her face in her hands in mock anguish. "I've always wanted to go to a costume party!" she mock-sobbed, peering at the other through a small slit between her fingers. Was it working?
Edmund snickered, the powers of women were truly unbelieveable. He reached for his polaroid camera, just to take a snapshot if the lass actually got her companion to wear the frilly thing.

Demare poofed into a state of red once more, only able to stare at the girl's acting display. Frilly... dress... Costume party... try on... WHAT?! Staring at her eyes caused him to stiffen a little bit, feeling his heart beat faster and faster in his chest. Damn... those... big... puppy eyes...
"F-f-f-f-f-f-fine..." he got out, feeling that he was going to regret this moment for the rest of his life. He would NEVER live this down if Demian found out, muchless anyone else he knew. This would be... Mayu and his little secret.
He was doing this for her. He was ONLY doing this for her.

Mayu cheered silently inside her mind, but kept a relatively calm expression on the outside.
She was pretty amazed that he was being such a good sport, and pointed out the dressing room area. "Don't forget your accessories!" she giggled, almost a bit impishly, and handed him a black choker and a pair of fishnet stockings.

Demare frowned slightly, still blushing like mad. The choker he would do, but... He handed the stockings back to her.
"I am... NOT wearing these..." he protested, his wings twitching a little bit. Idly, he wondered how he was even going to make this work with his wings. His shirt had holes cut out in the back for them to fit through... This costume didn't.
