She giggled again. "Does he tell the ending so the surprise is ruined?" she asked. Then she seemed to recall her manners and dropped her foot and faced him with a smile. Bowing her head a bit, just barely missing getting her face in the water, Galatea added, "I would like to go to the drive-in with you some night. Can we have popcorn?"

"Of course." He said. "It's the easiest thing to steal at the movies." He added with a nod. He fell backwards, floating as he spoke. "We'll sneak into the food stand place and grab a few pieces while they aren't looking. Or find an almost empty bag."
He paused. "I'd ask Ice to take us, but she'd probably insist on bringing her baby, and then everyone else would want to go..." He frowned, thinking it over. "But Kisa would take us if you wanted a ride! She wouldn't say a word, either. Heck, she'd buy us nachoes!"

"I've never had nachos." Galatea resisted the urge to nudge Nack to see if she could affect his drift. "The Captain doesn't like processed cheese. But I like popcorn." She smiled. "It sounds like it would be a very nice night."

"You're missing out then." He said with a nod. "Processed cheese is one of the four food staples or something. Along with chocolate, strawberries, and sprite." How that worked he never questioned, but believed completely. At least it seemed that way till he grinned.
"I'm almost positive..." Silva said from where he was laying on the beach next to where Aleric and Nick were building sand forts. "That he's hitting on her."
Aleric and Nick jerked. "You're kidding me!" Nick said incredulously. "Nack?"
"That's--" Aleric stopped. Then broke into a little smile. "Very interesting."

"Strawberries and chocolate are nice," she agreed readily. "Especially when you put them together. Though they get very messy that way. Have you ever mixed them?"

"Every chance I get." He agreed. "Silva likes cherries and milkshakes together. But you can''t beat strawberries and chocolate." He said with a nod. "Or just chocolate. You'll have to come by some halloween. We usually manage to freak out at least one kid enough for them to leave their bag behind."
"But he's GAY." Nick said, as if that explained why it couldn't be. "At least, I thought he was."
"Feien don't exactly have genders, Nick." Aleric said gently.
Silva just shook his head, wondering if he should be irritated or amused.

Another surprising giggle escaped Galatea at the idea of trick-or-treaters fleeing Silva. "That's a bit duplicitious," she pointed out but there was no heart to the words and she kept smiling. "Then again, we don't need much chocolate, do we? A candy bar lasts a very long time if we keep it cool."

"And a bag full of them lasts--ooh, about a week or two if you have both Nick and me." He admitted. "I swear Nick doesn't sleep during that week, though. Too much sugar."
And Nick was still trying to figure out just WHAT that meant for his life outlook.

"I can believe that. Nick is very energetic. He moves and talks so quickly." Gingerly, the blood feien moved back a few steps closer to the shoreline and then leaned back into the water, lifting her feet so that she floated beside Nack. Wrinkling her nose, she concentrated and opened her wings for better stability. "I like him," she finally announced shyly. "But I don't think I could ever have such a nice conversation with him as I'm having with you. It's a... Hunch?"

"Nick's a little rough around the edges." Nack admitted. "But he's as close to a brother as I get, so I can't complain too much." He admitted. "He's more of an action sort of guy than a talker."
And then Nick shrugged and went back to his fort. He figured that if Nack didn't mind what gender they appeared to be, then who was he to complain?
Aleric almost laughed as he felt the wolf boy's silent acceptance. It was good to know that the boys wouldn't have problems because of this.

"Oh, I understand. Many people I knew when we were with the Fleet were more prone to doing things than talking about them. It's good to be so decisive sometimes."

"Sometimes." He agreed. "And sometimes it's just stupid." He shook his head and changed the subject. "So when do you wanna go to the movies?"

"Oh." The soft noise was clear surprise and she closed her eyes and smiled to herself. It had been a real offer. How nice! "Whenever you like, I suppose," she ventured. "I can leave our quarters whenever I like as long as I tell the Captain where I am going."

"I'll have to talk to Kisa." He admitted. "It gets cold around midnight, even in the summer, so it's easier to have a ride. But I'll tell you at the next training practice?"

"Of course." A bright smile, utterly unpracticed, appeared on Galatea's face. "Thank you very much. We will have to much fun."
