Ya, that's a good point.

Women aren't necessarily weaker, but on average, they tend to be smaller. So in some situations that can be a big dissadvantage.

But remember, when you are small, you have a lower center of gravity, meaning you have better balace, by nature. Also, it's easier to move quicker when you're carrying less weight.

Meh, every coin has 2 sides. (at least)

Heh, frisky, are we?

That's the spirit. Screw who's bigger and who's smaller. You give it your all and you ask that they do the same.

I'm 5'3"... EVERYONE I spar is bigger than I am. My advantage... I am smaller. I use my opponents hieght against them. They are taller... meaning their legs are longer. Hince the closer you stay to the guy the more likely his kick will over-extend and the easier he is to read.

Same... I'm 5'1.. Mostly everone is bigger than be but I do have short, stocky legs for hard kicks and I am able to take people down easily.. but if it is far range attacks I'm screwed, and there was no where to go either.
But I can indeed, kick some booty.

Yay short female martial artists blaugh I'm shorter than both of you...4 11 and 1/2 to be exact and though i'm no pro at martial arts yet there are soem possible advantages against fighting a larger opponent (well ones that I see anyways)

1) like soemone said if you get close to them then their kicks can overextend. Not to mention some people hate fighting up close ((i really need to work on this sweatdrop ))

2) not in all cases mind you, but in my dojo anyways most of the bigger guys are heavier set and therefore fairly slow. I am fairly speedy and can gain an advantage against these taller people. I know that's not always the case but this is just witht he people i spar with.

Your right about how smaller fighters will have a easier time to win if they are in close, but don't count the taller/larger people out yet, alot of them know little tricks like when you get in close they just give you a slight push to set you off balance then go into a counter attack, easy to keep there range and get a point on you.

and as they say, fools rush in, which actually does imply well here, because if you try to charge in to get in close, its just to easy to put your foot up and have you run into it.

A couple people I know have ran into my feet before... that to run into it too. But yay for short martial artist. These orange and green belts piss me off because they are younger than me and make fun of my height, and the are continous about it... I just have to drop my back, step up at them, and look up to get my point across.

That's so sweet...

*backs away*

People like picking on guys like me.. especially short girls.. My ex pokes, tickles, and hits me every chance she gets.

Course, if I didn't let them, they wouldn't... But I'm not one to punch someone in the chest...

True enough... but I have another advantage. I may be short but I have great range of motion and legs up to my neck. I can kick a 6'5" person in the pretty hard without losing balance. One reason I love my do bok is that it hides just how long they are. Kicks are easy to get around because I don't charge; I spend the first bit of the match dodging and blocking, trying to get a feel for his/her reach and skill, and then my opponent usually underestimates my reach and in comes my combanation.

Most people underestimate the reach of my legs aswell, right up up to the point where my foot is in their face xd

Yeah, but by the time you get a feel for them, the match could be over and all you've felt is there foot to your head, lol..But a more serious fighter will make it alot harder for you to get a feel to the match by actually doing bobs and weaves...now I don't mean like standing straight up like a boxer, but when your in a fighting stance, say for tkd(cause thats all I really know) and you have a wider stance is easier to bend your knees and go down low then spring back up and away and get to your full height again. I was taught to always keep moving my knees from different heights, it not only helps with dodging, but if you got the nedurance it can really piss off your oppenent.
