.:Sunsets and Convenient placements:. Natsumi & Alec Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi grinned widely at the sight of the open water... "Sugoii..." she exclaimed to herself, taking in a deep breath of the sea breeze. She hadn't gotten a chance to really look at teh ocean yet... Sure, she'd seen it on her way to the island.. But that had been nausious and miserable. And back at home.. if she ever had been to the beach she hardly remembered it.
With that, she moved forword, looking curiously at the sand as she went. The sun was getting ready to set, so the sweater wasn't quite as annoying as a chill breeze swept over from the sea. Yep.. it seemed perfect. So Natsumi settled down on the sand, looking out over the water with a smile. Alec Derring Meanwhile, a certain multicolour-haired teenager was enjoying the last few waves of warm water that the surf carried in from the vast ocean beyond. The evening was approaching quickly, and with that came currents of cooler water that made him shiver despite the fact that he was emersed in it.
He'd spent awhile at the beach today, swimming by himself and enjoying the tropical waters. The way the waves nudged his body around was almost comparible to being in a cradle.
As his grey fins on his ankles touched another chilling wave of cool water, Alec shivered and decided he'd finally having enough. He reached the shore quickly and lumbered out as a dripping-wet mass just as he spotted someone sitting in the sand. Seeing as it was somewhat familiar, he decided to go say hi. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi awed at the pretty colors that were setting in over the skies, almost missing the figure that poped up out of the water... However the movement quickly caught her attention, vaugly wondering who would be swimming so late.
She perked when she reconized the dual-colored hair. Smiling she waved, the other hand making sure to held the sweater down over her stomach... It's baggy nature wouldn't really do well to hide her problem if it got moved up. Even though Nita had reacted better than Natsumi could have ever hoped for, she was still a bit iffy about the subject... Unsure at how anyone else would react.
"Hello!" she greeted cheerily as he got within hearing distance. Alec Derring Alec's predictions were proved to be correct as he heard the soft-spoken woman call out a greeting as he approached. "Aye Natsumi." He returned with a wave, trying not to struggle over to awkward syllables of her name.
"'ow are ye?" He mumbled with a smile as he made himself comfortable by sitting down beside her, making sure to keep a few feet to her side so that she wouldn't get wet from the water that still clung to him. He wasn't surprised that she would be found sitting there alone, she seemed the type to enjoy the calmness of the ocean. Natsumi Tanaka "I am good. And you?" she shifted her bare feet against the sand, having decided to take off her shoes for the trip. The bits of webbing on the sides of her feet felt a bit wierd against the sand, though. She was sitting in the typical japanese fasion, her legs folded up under her, back end resting on her heels. Her tail laid loosely on the sand, not having much life to it. "It is pretty, is it not?" she added in as an after thought. Alec Derring Alec shrugged a bit, leaning back and propping himself up with his hands behind him. "A'm alrigh'. C'nt complain." He answered quietly, relaxing his muscles after the long swim.
"Wuh, th'ocean?" He nodded his head towards the rolling waves, now sparkling luminescently with the shimmering reflection of the colourful sky above. A few gulls flew by overhead, cawing once and awhile as if to remind everoyne of their presence, but other than that the beach was still and calm. "A' like th'ocean. S'woon thing a' c'nt complain 'bout... 'bout bein' 'ere. A' neveh saw i' before a' came 'ere..." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumiw as getting better at her english, able to pick up a few more of the words than she had last time they spoke... Though a few still threw her for a loop, it was enough to figure out enough of what he said in order to respond. Which was hopefully all that mattered. "Mmn. I had not seen it either... This is my first time here that I have seen it with out being queasy." She gave a soft laugh, loking rather amused at the birds. Apparently one had found a bit of stray food and now everyone wanted a peice of it. Alec Derring Alec laughed a little, not wanting too be too harsh about finding amusement in someone else's weaknesses. "Ye ge' seasick?" He smirked and shook his head. "A' neveh been onna boat methinks. Maybeh a dingeh when a' was a wee thing." He imagined it must've been horrible to get naucious just by sitting in a boat, he was also surprised that it was apparently possible for a person to be seaksick just by looking at the sea. How horrible that must be, seeing as they were all surrounded by it now. Natsumi Tanaka "Seasick..?" she repeated, frowing some... Did that really make her seasick? "I had been queasy before the ride here though... That was the only time I saw the ocean." she shrugged, smiling and clasping her hands together, pretending as though she knew what a 'dingeh' or a 'wee thing' was. "I have never been able to swim in the ocean, either..." she noted, having noticed the fact he had been swimming. "Is it different?" she figured it must be... but she couldn't try it herself. Alec Derring Alec cocked an eyebrow, looking over at the young woman. "Sick befo' ye got 'ere? Maybeh ye shoul' see a docteh o' somethin..." Of course, he only realized what that implied after he'd said it and quickly attempted to reiterate. "Though... tha' migh' no' be a good idea eitheh." He snickered a bit, making light of the situation. She didn't seem to look that sick anyways.
"Differen' than wuh?" He frowned a little as he thought on it, trying to form his emotions into words. "I's differen' than a pool f'sure. Differen' than th'lake too, i's salteh and a lo' mo' uh.... well, i' moves mo'." He wasn't succeeding. It was like trying to describe colour to a blind person. Natsumi Tanaka "Aa, no it's just..." she trailed off, averting her gaze back to the setting sun. Only half of it seemed to be left. "It's nothing." she finished, already knowing exactly why she had been nausious. She laughed lightly as he continued, catching the joke immediatly. She wasn't at all happy with the doctors right now... Not simply because of the injects, but more paticularly Sabin and his.. prank.
She listened as he tried to answere her question, laughing softly again as it seemed to go nowhere. "I will just have to try it, yes?" Alec Derring Alec noticed her quick avoidance on a particular subject that must've been bothering her. From the looks of it, she didn't really want ti bother explaining it to him but his curiousity almost told him to try and convince her to tell him anyways.
"Yea, ye shoul'." He nodded vigorously as he glanced off at the ocean again. "i's good fo' ye." As he began to talk, he got the feeling that Natsumi was still preoccupied and decided to pry... just a little. "Ye ekay?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi wasn't at all too sure how swimming would be good for her.. maybe hte exercise or something. Or just the fun. Too bad she couldn't... She couldn't even do her gymnastics now. The tight outfits were sure to draw attention to where she didn't want it. "I wish i could.." she said mostly to herself, before looking over to Alec, worrying that maybe she was being as obvious as she had been with Nita... But the baby wasn't kicking, that had been the main give away there.
"I am fine." she smiled sheepishly, thoughts seeming to tie themselves into a knot in her head. A rush of worries, mixed with the wonder if he wouldn't care like Nita hadn't... The want to brag about her baby mixed with the want to hide the fact she was prengant.
She tried to distract herself with the retreating sun, nearly gone now, she was suprised at just how fast it seemed to go as it got closer to the horizon. Alec Derring "Ah, i's no' tha' 'ard!" The teen smiled and gestured his hand towards the rolling waves. Missing any sort of hints that Natsumi might have been unintentionally dropping, he then assumed that her problem was that she just didn't know how to swim. He therefore took it upon himself to break out into some sort of extravaggant conversation on the topic in both an attempt to make her feel better, as well as an excuse to tell another tale. "Ye don' look tha' changed. A' friend o' mine (she's a pig ladeh), she c'n swim joost fine, like a big ol' raft, yanno? Joost stickin' teh th' shallows, all bolleh like." Of course he conveniently left out the part where she almost drowned. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi once again missed the chance to lie and avert the conversation away from her... However, she was still a teenager of sorts, and abilities were important still... Making good impressions and just all around looking good, though Natsumi was less of a show-off than most, she had her own subtle ways of doing so. "But I can swim. I did at the pool at school for physical education class." She nodded, with a slight smile.
A pig lady though? Hm... Wait, didn't Alec like to eat pigs? That was what his beloved sausage had been, right? She ignored that for the moment, "Perhaps my change will help me swim better even..." she pulled a bare foot from the sand showing off the webbing that still threw her for a loop. "See?" Alec Derring "Now 'ow's tha'." Alec smirked as he watched Natsumi show off her feet lined with a weird looking webbing. She definetly looked like somesort of fish. Maybe that was what her strange tail was all about?
"Oh... ye swim? Then..." It was becoming clear that Natsumi had truly thrown him for a loop, the punk teen looking on with a much more confused expression now in comparison. Her avoidance and plain fogginess of the subject at hand didn't help either, though admittedly it wasn't always that difficult to confuse the poor guy. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi eyed the webbing a moment before setting her foot back on the cooling sand. Wondering once again what sort of reptile could possibly have webbing... She was a reptile of some sort right? Thats what the scales meant... And fish scales were much slicker, weren't they? Hers were more like a very soft leather... Then again, being a fish would explain her cravings for water.
"Hm? Oh.. Yes, I liked it alot... But I can't now..." she trailed off, flinching some, suddenlly realizing where she had lead herself. She had jsut.. what was the phrase they said? Oh yes... Put herself between a rocky place and a rock, wasn't it? Or was it something else? Stiff place.. Hard place. Yes, hard place. Though the phrase didn't matter now... She needed a distraction. "Aa." she chirped, mentally thanking nature for her newest excape route. "The sun it is almost gone." She pointed as a last sliver of light seemed to be slipping away. Alec Derring Alec took th ebait and stared off at the retreating source of light just as Natsumi mentioned it. He didn't mind the nighttime, especially when at the beach. The moon had a beautiful habit of glistening off the water's surface sometimes.
"Ye... a' c'n see shite n' th'dawk." The punk teen muttered abruptly, destroying the moment whether intentionally or not. A cool breeze rushed over the surface of the vast waterinfront of them and hit his skin that was still partially damp, causing a chill to run down his spine. Not wanting to catch any sort of jungle bug, he turned to Natsumi.
"Wanna 'ead back?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi watched quietly, only mentally giving a sigh of releif as the subject was averted. The sliver seemed to slip away rather quickly, leaving only the small shimmer of moonlight on the water and a small glow on the horizon. It was rather peaceful... Natsumi had been finding herself more and more attracted to the night time the longer she had been here, and this was no different.
Natsumi blinked as the moment was shattered, glancing over at the dim figure of Alec, then giing a soft giggle. "I can not either." She had never really thought he'd be able to see in the dark, not many could...
She felt the breeze too, though it wasn't as bad since she had her sweater her shorter skirt was giving way to chilly and uncomfortable legs. "Yes." she smiled, pushing herself to her feet then waiting for him to lead the way, too used to following others to do much else. Alec Derring Even though Alec got up from his spot in preparation to leave the beachside view behind, the chilly breeze still caused him to shiver once again.
"Ye lucky wi' tha'." He snickered, motioning to her choice of attire as he waited for her to come along. Who the heck wore that kind of clothing when the sun was high in the sky on a tropical island, anyways? The thought pretty much hit him only then. "'ey... don' ye ge' hot durin' th'day wi' tha' top o' yours?" He hadn't wanted to direct the attention to her fashion sense but the absurdity of it was a little hard to ignore after awhile. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi blinked, looking down at her sweater as though she wasn't sure for a moment what he was talking about. "Hot?" She blinked, she couldn't just lie... But she felt as though she knew where this would be going. It had been one of the first things Nita had questioned afterall. "Yes, it does get hot." she admitted, trying to avoid eye contact, only to lead her eyes to his bare chest. Though it was kinda dark and hard to see she was still able to figure out it was lacking a shirt. Her cheeks tinted red some having noticed this, quickly looking back to his face. "Are you not cold?" Aha, yes, wonderful subject change. Alec Derring Alec grinned, showing much of his fangs. He may be a little slow on the uptake on chocie occasions but he knew when someone was avoiding a subject, especially after how thorough she'd been with previous inquiries. This of course amused him, and he was beginning to feel a might bit playful.
"Fookin freezin'." He chuckled and made an effort to fall into exact stride next to Natsumi. "Spare a' sweateh?" Natsumi Tanaka "Eh? But..." she stumbled for a sentance, hit with about 50 thoughts at once. She didn't want him to be cold... That just wouldn't be good at all. But then he couldn't see her stomach... Wait, there would be more showing than that if she gave up said article of clothing. Which only caused her previous blush to increase. "But I.. I do not have anything under it." She frowned, still wanting to find a way to get him warm... She hated to see her friend freezing, afterall. Alec Derring Alec could only laugh, bemused by Natsumi's innocent paths of thought. At least she got what he was hinting at, he could tell by the colour in her cheeks.
"Ahh, joost kiddin." The teen smirked again and nudged Natsumi's shoulder as they walked, trying to hold in another shiver from the cooler air. He wouldn't be able to stand it if his pointy teeth began to chatter. "Honestleh though, why th'sweateh?"
Maybe she thought she was fat. Oh great, another girl with self-esteem issues. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi gave a half hearted laugh when he nudged her, still a bit too flustered to fully laugh. Though.. part of it was nice, another obviously teen to hang around with. Like back in her own highschool, when her friends or old boyfriend would tease her just to see her blush. It made her feel at home in a wierd way.
"N..No reason." she covered poorly, frowning at the obviously cold guy. Hm.. what to do... "Uhm..." she chewed her lower lip, blushing furiously as she put an arm around his waist, unable to reach much else, and carefulyl trying to keep ehr stomach from touching him. It was a much bolder move than she ever would have liked to have done... But he was freezing, and she was rather warm... She couldn't just stand by. "Sorry..." she squeaked, biting into her lip again nerviously. "But.." she trailed off, unsure as to where she was going with that sentance. Alec Derring Alec continued snickering along up until the point when Natsumi slinked an arm around him, catching him off-guard in every way possible. Although he tended to 'play around' and flirt a lot, he usually ended up being ignored or beaten off, never expecting an actual response. That, along with his awkwardness towards the opposite gender was a testament to his immaturity.
He almost shut right up when she pressed close. "Thanks." He managed to gulp though he thought it a bit odd the way she was positioning herself. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi held strong, though every part of her brain told her to back off and that she was completely flirting with him, the other side tried to be logical and tell her she was an adult now... One that could calmly keep her friend warm without such immature thoughts. Still, her heart was trying to beat faster... No matter how much her brain tried to tell her she was an adult, the closeness was getting to her.
"J-Just.. to keep warm... Yes?" she stuttered, giving a nervious laugh behind it that died out all too quickly. "I can.. give you something at my Duplex..." That would work... Right? Then again.. inviting him up to her room while clinging on him only made her face a brighter shade of red. "A towel." she quikly added in. Alec Derring Alec kept silent, feeling as awkward as ever despite each of their best efforts. For lack of any other sufficient answer, he nodded in agreement to her idea. "...Ekay." He simply answered and kept walking, somewhat grateful for the darkness of the jungle. It helped obscure their discomfort a bit.
"Watch ye step." We warned quietly in an attempt to break the awkward silence. Natsumi Tanaka "Mn..." she nodded to his warning, only feeling more and more awkward since he had ceased most conversation, teasing and the like... She hoped she wasn't making him uncomfortable... Well, it was obvious she was.. but.. not too uncomfortable, right?
"It is right here..." with that, she slipped away, assuming he could survive from there to her Duplex, because neither of them were going to survive the rest of the way like that. Atleast she hoped that was it, the dark made it a bit harder to tell... But as she approached the building she smiled, yep. It was hers. "I am up the stairs." She pointed to them, before moving up ahead of him, placing anything she could think of on her mind to try and rid her flushed face as she got to her door and opened it for them. Ofcourse the thought of him in her room ontop of that only made whatever blush she had managed to rid come right back. Alec Derring Alec gave a short sigh of relief when Natsumi let go and dashed off ahead of him, giving him time to readjust and calm himself before he'd have to face her again. It wasn't that he had no attraction to her whatsoever despite her formalities and strange manners, but it wasn't like he was about to allow himself to get into any sort of weird situation that would result in something a little not-right.
"Ekay." He responded again in the same manner, following her up the stairs to her place in slow, deliberate steps. He'd wait shyly by the door unti he was sure she wanted him to come in. After all, he was still dripping wet a bit and... this was a girl's room. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi had wandered into her bathroom to find a towel, looking around... Wait, she only had one didn't she? Well techncially she had two but the other one was dirty, and partially wet.. It wouldn't have been any use to Alec. She paused her oh so serious thoughts as she rmembered Alec, glancing back to find him in her doorway. "Aah.. You can.. come in if you like... I will not take long..." She had debated offering, but once again... it would have been rude to let him freeze.
The duplex was kempt and tidy, everything tucked away neatly, the bed was made, a picture of her family that was set next to her bed seemed to be the only sign that someone actually lived in the room. That and a plant on the fridge.
She frowned at where she had placed her towels, a bit too short to reach the top shelf where she had stuffed it. She leaned up on her toes, trying to hook a finger tip on the cloth. Almost... almost... got it! She smiled in victory as the fluffy white towel fell into her arms. Though she missed the fact that her sweater seemed to have risen ever so slightly when she was streachign to reach. Alec Derring Alec took note of the offer to enter her room and meant to, but his foot just didn't seem to want to step over the threshold. Finally he was able to gather the guts to walk in but even after that, he remained quietly closer to the door than anything else in the room.
He watched her mutely as she searched for an adequate towel, taking a short scan of the contents of the room and finding nothing in particular that he could focus his sight on. As his eyes ran a full circle around his surroundings, they ended up landing on Natsumi just as she reached for the towel in the hard-to-reach area. The way her sweater had moved, it appeared to finally fail in concealing what she had tried so hard to hide. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi turned with a smile, good... almost over. Now he had a towel to keep warm and even though she needed it back.. That would be simple, she'd just ask politely to go with him so she could have it back. The embaressing moments would soon be over... And she could let her teenage fast-beating heart rest. Not that she was really interested in him... the simple fact he was fairly attractive and a male was enough to get the flusterable Japanese-girl going.
"Here you go. But... Could I perhaps get it back? I could come with you and then you would not have to be cold." She nodded, as she handed out the fluffy white object. Yay for logic... Or something close to it. Alec Derring Alec didn't mean to stare, he really didn't. At first he thought his previous theory had been confirmed, she was just self-conscious about having a little flub. He believed it for a moment until his logical mind finally began peicing together the bits of information she'd let slip throughout their conversation. The little 'bulge' seemed a lot more noticeable now even under her sweater, but he wouldn't dare ask.
"Thanks." He smiled a bit, accepting the towel and draping it over his shoulders. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi blinked, at first wondering if she had really embaressed him that much... He looked funny, and he was staring at her. She frowned in confusion, before it hit her... Crap. She knew raising her arm up too high would move the sweater, she had even been aware of that when she had waved to him.. but now... Her red face came rushing back, "I.. I..." An explination would have been good here.. before he thought she was some horrible woman. But there wasn't an explination, nothing other than 'yea i got knocked up back at home.' And that would defeat the original purpous of an explination. Alec Derring Alec watched her expression change as if they'd both been able to read one another without saying a word on the topic, seeing the flustered and upset look in her eyes. Furrowing his brow, he began to shake his head. "Is ekay." He said rather sternly, trying to communicate that the situation indeed was alright. She didn't have to say another word, she didn't owe him anything, and if she wanted to keep it a secret he'd pretend like the best that he'd never learned a thing. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi seemed to relax some at that... still looking a tad nervious, but moreso in a state of hesitantly hopeful. The lack of actually having to say words seemed nice.. expecially since they seemed to have a language barrier between them. "It.. is?" she finally questioned after a moment of hesitation... Not sure if she wanted to double check and get him saying no he thought she was discusting. But.. he wouldn't say that, right? Atleast she hoped so. Alec Derring Alec nodded quickly, trying to look as nonchallant as possible. "Ye.... ye." This was a little heavy. The fact that they were both shyly avoiding eachother like the teenagers they were a moment before seemed so frivalous now.
Fortunately, he was too care-free to take the newfound "discovery" to heart any more than he could any other late-breaking news on the island. She was pregnant. So what? Stranger things had happened. Perhaps he just failed to see what was so bad about it. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi seemed to be fully releived now... Smiling some to him before those teenage-shinesses kicked up again. He may have felt those thrings before were frivalous... but he was still in her room... Alone with her, and not wearing much. What if someone saw and thought something? She locked her eyes to the floor, "A..Are you ready...?" she shifted towards the open door. Alec Derring Alec snapped around towards the door, remembering why they'd come there in the first place. "Ye sure." He answered, grateful that that seemed to be over with.
Leaving the duplex, he tried to drape the towel to wear it as a sort of blanket across his shoulders although it was too short.

.:Alec's...Herum?:. Natsumi & Alec Part 2 Yamamoto Kikue Kikue forced herself to stay calm. She'd retreated to her duplex room for the past two weeks, going outside at dusk and dawn. She met almost no one, yet made no effort to. For some reason she felt even more than usual the need to be alone. She had considered inviting Nita over, but again, the sudden dislike of the idea of someone staying in her room took over. She had no idea why. But this morning she'd decided to return Alec's banadana. It had been washed and dried with her clothes and sheets. She'd folded it carefully, and stepped outside under the darkening sky to cross to his duplex. If only it wasn't so hot outside...if only she didn't feel like being by herself so much. Maybe this would be easier... Keeping up with my studies is some distraction, at least, she muttered to herself mentally. She knew it was a poor excuse. But it was something. Her sandals flapping, she stopped when she'd reached what she remembered as Alec's door. It's underneath Nita's, right?Hesitantly, Kikue tucked the bandana into her yukata folds. With a clawed hand she was extremely aware of, she knocked softly on Alec's door. Hopefully he would be home... Alec Derring "S'oveh 'ere." Alec mentioned as he walked beside Natsumi past the few duplexes that seperated theirs from each other. He motioned his arm towards the door just as he caught sight of a figure standing outside the building.
His first thought was obviously bad, the teen's paranoia towards the island's staff rising into some extravaggant story in his mind that ended in him being dragged off to be experimented on. He then realized that there was only one figure, contrary to the hordes of jeeps he vividly remembered from that encounter with the red man. Squinting his grey eyes, he attempted to recognize the person as a bit of his courage came back to him. "Kikue?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi's face was still a bit flushed from the earlier issues, her hands clasped together infront of her. "Mn." Natsumi nodded, following his gesture to the building... Wasn't Nita's around here somewhere? It was a passing though that was quickly dropped when she spotted the figure outside Alec's door. Kikue was it? She glanced to Alec, inwardly hoping she wasn't about to be in the way of something... She thought about leaving right then but.. she needed that towel he had. Nita MacNeal Nita had been sitting out on her balcony, reading with the last of the fading light. As the sun set, she stretched and put her book back inside before returning to enjoy the cool night air. Moments later, she caught a glimpse of white approaching the duplex downstairs. Kikue, perhaps? No sooner had the thought crossed her mind, when she heard the unmistakable sound of Alec's voice. Curious, she leaned over the rail and waved. "Evening, guys." Yamamoto Kikue Surprised to hear her name, Kikue turned to see Alec approaching with someone she didn't recognize. Barely a minute after that, Nita popped her head over the balcony, too. Oh! ...This might be karma getting back at me for avoiding people for over a week...Kikue felt nervous for some reason; she guessed maybe it was the other person, since she didn't know them. Putting her hand into the folds of her yukata, she pulled out Alec's bandana and held it in her hands. She gave Nita a friendly wave. "Hello...I didn't think so many people...would be out." She turned back to Alec and the girl -- woman? -- with him. Getting a good look at her, Kikue was surprised to note her features. ...This girl. Is she the other Japanese here on the Island?Alec Derring Alec smirked, pleased to see the young woman again. It'd been an eternity since that day on the cliffside and he had been wondering how she was doing, especially since the freshest memory in his mind regarding the matter was the rather tattered state she was in when he left her in her duplex. "Aye, 'ow are ye?" He waved to the felinesque girl just as a certain nosey red-head popped over the side of her balcony upstairs. In the dark, it still managed to startle him a tad.
"EY! .... ya buggah." He muttered amusedly, waving to Nita as well. "Ye, a' bit o' a crowd 'appenin?" The teen chuckled and before he could think to ask Kikue why she'd been lurking about his duplex, he walked over and unlocked his door. "Ye comin' in th'lot o' ya?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi shifted uncomfortably, equally noticing Kikue's Asian-like features... That seemed both inviting and at the same time uninviting. The fact she was pregnant was being more and more hard to conceal, not nessicarily because of the size.. but because of her general inability to keep secrets. And if Kikue was Japanese, Natsumi doubted it would be taken as well as Nita had taken it. She would undoubtably be seen as... well. Dishonorable.
Speaking of Nita... Natsumi's smile returned as she spotted the familiar woman, giving a small wave, more mindful of her sweater's limitations now. "Coming in...?" she echoed, turning back to Alec "But.. I.. I do not want to be a trouble..." she fidgeted. Nita MacNeal Nita grinned at Kikue and Natsumi and clattered down the stairs. "Sure, may as well," she said. "I wasn't doing much of anything anyway." Down on the 'street,' Nita gave Kikue a quick hug. It was good to see the girl was still doing well. She followed the group into Alec's duplex, mindful of the debris on the floor. Yamamoto Kikue Kikue was surprised at Nita's hug, yet somehow, she appreciated it. Following the panda girl into Alec's duplex, Kikue cast an eye on the other Asian girl with them. Again, she still didn't know her. Who was she? She looked Japanese; surely this was the girl that had been mentioned to her before? Giving Nita a smile for the hug, Kikue glanced quickly at Alec before addressing the other girl. "I don't believe we've met," Kikue said, with a soft smile. The other girl looked somewhat worried; Kikue felt the smile might help. Maybe...my claws and all...make her nervous. She tried not to worry about it herself. She was really there to give Alec back his bandana, after all. Alec Derring Alec went inside, kicking a wide path clear of all his discarded clothes and items that were occupying the floor of his duplex. Making sure there were some chairs that were free of clutter, he stumbled over to his minifridge to grab a soda. If anyone else needed a seat they could clear some space off of his bed.
"Ah, thas' Kikue." He interjected, pointing towards the clawed woman in the yukata. "Kikue, meet Natsumi." Tossing a hoodie into a pile in the corner, he went and sat down on his bed. "Oh... an' thas Nita." Somewhat of a mumbled afterthought. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi blinked as she suddenlly seemed to have no choice in the matter of entering the man's room, oh well.. It'd be rude to run off now. She offered Kikue a smile in return, bowing her head as she spoke "I do not beleive so either... I am Natsumi Tanaka." she breifly wondered if she should have went back to the old way of saying her name.. It was hard to tell.
She blinked as they seemed to be being left outside, quickly following the group into the mess. Only to be met with the sudden urge to offer to clean the man's room... She kept those thoughts to herself. "Kikue.." she repeated the name, nodding to the other asian-woman. "It is nice to meet you..." she turned to Nita "And I know Nita." she offered a slightly wider smile towards her friend, releived that she was there too. It ebbed the nervious awkwardness. Nita MacNeal Nita resisted the urge to start compulsively picking up dirty clothing and throwing away old food. Instead, she picked her way through the mess to an unoccupied chair. She sat quietly through the introductions, since she knew everyone in the room. "Thanks for the mention," she said wryly. "But how're you all doing?" Yamamoto Kikue Kikue bowed to Natsumi in return, pleased to see that this was indeed who she thought it was -- the other Japanese on the Island. "I am Yamamoto Kikue," she said, offering her name Japanese-style, as it was how she commonly said it. Kikue's furry ears flicked as she watched Alec shove things around in his room to make space. Saying it was a mess in here would be an understatement. It didn't bother her too much though -- it wasn't her own room... "I guess we all know Nita," Kikue said cheerfully, breaking into a smile. She nodded. "...I've been...alright..." Instinctively Kikue bit her lip, only to regret it immediately. The large canines were still hard to remember when it came to expressions... "I've been alone for a few weeks...I've been trying to keep studying." Her eyes glanced to the messy floor, and she idly pushed a soda can with the tip of her sandal. The claws had left holes in the soles. "It's hard though..." She sighed. She was sure they knew how it felt, too.

Natsumi yawned, stirring from her slumber with a growl of her stomach. "Banana" was the first thing that poped into the sleepy woman's mind, urging her to slowly slide out of bed with a wide yawn. The sleepiness was quickly leaving her as she stood... Vaugly noticing how strange it was for her to wake so easily, but without another thought she was headed to her door. She closed it as quietly as possible, hoping not to awaken her neighbor below her. Doing the same sneaky actions with the stairs then heading into the darkness towards the cafeteria, hoping it was open at this time. The noise of crickets caught her attention... but she ignored it the best of her ability, chanting the word 'banana' in her mind to distract her from the insectivore urges.

.:Stop Bugging Out:. Natsumi & Newton Part one Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi squinted at the dark, trying to figure out how close she was to the cafeteria by now. It didn't seem all that close. All she saw was road and more duplexes. She had left her own duplex when her stomach beckoned her out for food in the wee hours of the morning. Or moreso, her unborn child had. And now, still in her pajamas, she was wandering the darkness in search of some bannannas.
She rubbed at her scaled arms, the chill of night getting to the bare skin. Oh well... atleast no one would see her and the swell of her stomach. Afterall, who would be out at this hour but a hugnry pregnant woman? Newton Filinas The frog janitor was crouched in the patch of dirt just outside the cafeteria, digging in the dark. It had taken days befor he had to give in. Like some of the other islanders, the animal instincts had taken a hold, and his insides demanded a certain diet. His mask hung from around his skinny neck, his green skin pale in the moonlight. At the sound of someone approaching, though, he froze, glancing around frantically. "Ah-?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi frowned, glancing about the dark area around her... The jungle noises were slowly getting to the girl. A combination of an immature mind and too many bad movies about teenagers getting eaten in jungles.. Or worse, tentacle monsters. She shuddered at the memories of those stupid videos. She hardly noticed the janitor knelt down in the dirt, until he made a noise. Her eyes shot to him, giving a sudden jump and squeak of suprise, her hand automatically clutching her chest as her heart jumped into her throat.
Wait.. a person? "I-I am sorry!" She stuttered, feeling bad for her reaction to him. "I thought.. that no one would be awake... and..." she trailed off, remembering what she was wearing suddenlly. Almost automatically wrapping her arms around her stomach to try and hide the pregnancy... Without much use, the swell was becoming more and more apparent with each passing day... and without her sweater it was almost impossible to hide. Newton Filinas At the sight of what could possibly be an islander, he dropped the pot he had borrowed from the kitchen to carry his findings in, webbed hands moving to try to pull his mask up, "Ah- ah- I'm s-sorry! I w-was- I w-was j-just ah- d-don't mind me! I'll ah..." Natsumi Tanaka "No, I am sorry.. I was.. just going to the.. food. and..." she fumbled for words when he seemed to be upset for being there, Natsumi immediatly assumed it was because he had startled her. "I.. The jungle. It was dark and... I just..." She paused, still trying to curl up over her stomach to hide it. "W..What is that?" she stared befuddled at the mask he had thrown on. Newton Filinas His wide eyes darted back and forth befor he swallowed anxiously, gripping his broom-walking-stick tightly. "Ah... wh-what is what?" Natsumi Tanaka "That..." she tilted her head to the side, pointing to his now masked-face breifly, before darting her arm back to her stomach nerviously. She felt like turning away but... that would be rude. Newton Filinas "My m-muh-ma-mask?" He finally understood, cheeks flushing greenly, "Ah... it's... to p-protect me. J-just ah.... y-yes, I'll j-just leave you be-" His attentions weren't drawn so much to the slight arch of her belly but to the scales and tail that wriggled there. He was panicked at the sight of such things now, each tail, each feather, each scale or whisker a danger, deseased ridden and contageous. He wanted to put more space between them but... that would be rude.
Instead, he shifted to pick his seemingly dirt filled pot up and clutch it under an arm as he used the other to lean on the make-shift staff, inable to rise from his crouch easily. Natsumi Tanaka "Mask...?" was that what it was? But weren't those usually for like that one American holiday... Halloween wasn't it? "Protect...?" she squeaked, her previous immature worries about the jungle returning... Was that mask to protect him from the jungle? Or more importantly... Did she need one? "From what?" her voice wavered, not sure if she wanted to know or not. She shivered, the cold starting to chill her scaley arms. But.. he hadn't noticed her stomach yet, so maybe she was suceeding in hiding it? She could only hope so. Newton Filinas He hugged the pot of dirt to his chest, inching away from her again, "F-from... f-from... f-from further con-con-contamination-" He babbled. With both hands full, he couldn't grab his spray if she got too close. This worred him further. Natsumi Tanaka "C-Contamination?" Natsumi echoed, looking rather worried suddenlly. It was one of the rarer words she had learned, afterall.. contamination was something you wanted to know about since it was always dangerous. For the moment she forgot about hiding her stomach, and covered her mouth with her hands. The mask was for something like that, right? Hopefully her hands would do until she could get something. Newton Filinas He hop-hobbled a couple steps away from her, wide eyes trembnling behind his mask. Although he was covered mostly by his dirty jumper and the face protection, his hands were undoubtably webbed and pale and greenish in the tropical moonlight. Should he tell her? He could see her- she was minorly changed as well. Had it been contamination for her? Contact? Or had she been injected? Was she safe? "Ah- f-from.. th-the... th-the ah..." Natsumi Tanaka "The.. ah?" Natsumi blinked, her words muffled from her makeshift hand-mask. What on earth was an ah?
She didn't step foreward, though she was tempted to... He did seem awfully nervious, she paused to look behind her. Nope, nothing there... She looked back, movement catching her eyes. She peered down to the tiny little hole Newt had made, a single worm seemed to be left and now it was wiggling desperatly to excape while the janitor was distracted. Newton Filinas Newt's eyes darted to the worm and back again, trembling slightly befor he seemed to panic. He wobbled as he let go of his broom to push up his mask, sending it clattering to the ground. Befor he could stop himself, his tongue flew from his mouth, snatching the worm to snap back and lodge the squirming invertabrate into the back of his throat. Unfortunatly, while his tongue had changed, his throat hadn't- and without the aid of his broom-handle walking stick he stumbled and fell onto his back. The pot of dirt landed on his chest, knocking his lungs with just enough force to knock the worm free. He gasped for air, but the force of the breath sucked the fish bait back down. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi nearly fell over herself when something shot out and took the worm with it. She choked on her yelp, along with the muffle of her hands, the startled noise dwindled into but a mere startled gasp. Still her eyes were wide as her brain frantically tried to put two and two together.
He was green.. had webbing... and a long tongue. A frog, ofcourse... That was an easy one. She watched the wierd scene before her, the man falling backwards, it took her a second to react, but not too long, and then she was moving towards the man's side, ready to offer him a hand up. All worries of her pregnancy, contamination, or getting bananas were gone. Heck, the craving for bananas had quickly been replaced by a craving for that worm he had just eaten... "A-are you okay? Could i help you?" Newton Filinas He squirmed on the ground, half trying to crawl away, half frantically gesturing that he still couldn't breath. His mask had slipped halfway off of his face, his mouth wide and soundlessly opening and closing. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi's eyes widened even more, this time actually letting out her startled noise "Choking!" was all she managed to get out, before her mind ran off on a panic. He could die. What should she do? That one thing.. The.. Heimlich Maneuver right? Oh who cared what it was called, just how would she do it?
Squeaking in panic, she did what she thought she remembered from a simmalar incident back in Japan at the resteraunt. Clasping her hands together, she rose them and then smacked them against the mans chest. "Gomen nasai!" she squeaked, forgetting to speak english and smacked him again since the first one had failed. "Shini ja nai!" Newton Filinas Newt coughed, sitting upright to try to avoid being brutally smacked again and the worm shot straight out to slap the gecko girl right between the eyes, gooey and wet from Newt's sticky siliva. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi cringed as something smacked her in the face, she held back a girly squeal as she tossed the poor worm aside. So.. The craving for that worm in paticular had gone away.
"Yareyare..." she sighed in releif, looking at him curiously "Daijo-" She cut herself off as soon as her own voice reached her, "Aa! I I mean.. Are you alright...?" Newton Filinas He gasped and panted for air, gripping his dirt and worm-smudged chest tightly. "I- I... I'm... ah- AH!" He grappled for his mask, struggling to readjust the straps in a wobbling panic. He seeemed to be having a bit of trouble with this process, though, falling and straightening a couple times befor he finally rolled onto his stomach with his legs up in an inhumanly froggish crouch and held the mask in place, green eyes wide. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi blinked as he paniced for the mask... tilting her head at the odd posture for a breif moment before leaning foreward. "Aa... Here..." Slowly, trying not to startle him further, she fixed the strap that seemed to be giving him trouble. Pulling back with a tiny proud smile. "There... It is fixed, yes?" Newton Filinas "I... ah..." He gulped, flinching at her touch, but relaxed once his mask was in place and he could ease away from her a few inches. "Ah... s-sorry... ah... I.. th-that wasn't... it was I m-mean... er... b-blast," he managed lamely once he found his voice again. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi smiled a bit more, shaking her head then covering her mouth again. That contamination must have been bad if he was that upset about it. She figured since that was so, she better be careful. She spoke up again, mufled through her hands. "I am juff glad you are all right.." Her eyes wandered away from him, to one of the little worms that had excaped his pot when he fell. Looking full of conflict at the worm... she wondered if just maybe she could sneakily grab the creature without him noticing. Newton Filinas He swallowed, glancing down at his lost work with raised eyebrows. His stomach growled and his green cheaks flushed. "I... I w-was j-just... getting... ah... I m-mean... er... g-gar-gardening! J-just gardening!" Natsumi Tanaka "Gardening..." Natsumi echoed, oh man she was hungry... She'd been able to resist all sorts of insects by keeping herself full. But now... She snapped her attention back to the man. "O..Oh Yes, gardening... You.. need these, yes?" she picked up one of the worms, pausing with it before holding it out to him. "Did you not ... choke on this?" he had done the thing with the tongue right? She was sure that wasn't her imagination. Which meant he was eating them, like she was so very much wishing she could do at the moment. Newton Filinas Newt's eyes locked on the worm, a little noise escaping the back of his throat, "I... I.. ah.. it... it w-wasn't what it looked like!" Natsumi Tanaka "Oh..." Natsumi cringed some at the wiggling creature in her hand. It was all.. sticky and dirty and... moving. She felt as though she were arguing about it with herself. Part of her was horrified of the wiggly, the other part wanted to eat it. Reluctantly, she spoke up again "Did it.. taste.. bad...?" Newton Filinas "H-how w-would I know how it t-tasted? I'm n-not... it w-wasn't l-like... I mmuh-ah.." He seemed to stammer over his own words, sounding rediculous concidering that he was obviously lying and doing a terrible job of it. This seemed to panic him further and he suddenly made a grab for his broom, "I... I... I w-was infected! I c-can't help it! D-don't j-judge me!" he groaned miserably. Natsumi Tanaka The panic seemed contagious, Natsumi waving a free hand in the air to try and stop him from fleeing her. Part of her was releived that she wasn't the only insectivore there... The other part felt bad for the man. "N-No! Not at all I-I..." she fidgeted some, before trying to look very confident, and failing, and shoving the worm that was in her hand in her mouth. She gave a tiny squeak when it wriggled in protest, cringing yet again before gulping it down whole, not finding the courage to actually chew it. She felt herself gag a bit, coughing some. "I do not judge you... I... have been wanting the same?" she admitted somewhat shyly. Such a thing as eating worms seemed horrible, but hopefully her little self-sacrifice would make him feel better. Newton Filinas Newt gaped at her, his eyes wide. He didn't know hwat he had been expecting, but it definatly wasn't that. "Y-you... ah...?"

.:Stop Bugging Out:. Natsumi & Newton Part two Natsumi Tanaka "Eugh..." her stomach turned, though part of her felt rather pleased on her first bug. "They do not.. taste that good.." She vaugly wondered the conciquences of eating something whole... expecially that something. Newton Filinas "Y-you... ah... are... are y-you a sub-subject?" He finally managed, watching her carefully, "Or... or ah...? w-were you infected?" Natsumi Tanaka "I.." Natsumi paused, trying to place which word was right. Infected sure sounded right... or was there a different letter in there somewhere... she frowned, getting her words jumbled. Too bad she'd never had 'English for the mad scientist 101' Not figuring this out anytime soon, she figured she'd just explain how she got here... Since everyone was a subject right? This man sure looked like one... "I.. I came here for a job as a translator..." she trailed off, deciding against sharing the embaressing part about getting tricked by Sabin. Newton Filinas "T-translater? Y-you... you aren't a sub-subject?" He double checked, his hand raising to his mask. Natsumi Tanaka She hesitated, unsure if she wasn't a subject or not... But she was a translator. Or had supposed to have been. "Yes.. Translator." she nodded, "Though..." she frowned, "I am not sure if there is much of a job here..." And even if Sabin had some actual work for her she doubted she'd do it now, not after what he did. She kept all thoughts of her distaste towards the man to herself. Newton Filinas He glanced around, double checking that they were still alone befor he slowly eased his mask off to see her better. If she wasn't a subject and was just infected like him- they couldn't effect eachother any worse than they were already effected, could he? "Y-you're... ah... ch-changed t-too?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi relaxed some as the mask came off, smiling a bit. Sure she had absolutly no idea what this guy was talking about.. but he didn't look like he was about to choke on his own heart, and that was all that mattered.
She paused to look over her arms, rubbing at them as she did so... The night air was still chilly, though the adrenalin rush was doing a find job of keeping her from getting too cold. "Yes." she muttered simply, giving one last warm-up rub of her arms, before offering her hand foreward, although looking a bit awkward in doing so, as it wasn't her normal way of introducing herself. "I am.. Natsumi Tanaka." Newton Filinas The frog man timidly eased forward, raising a clammy, green, webbed hand to shake her's, "N-nuh-N-nuh-Newton Filinas. I'm th-the... ah.. Cus-custodian." He pointed to the dirty, worn badge proudly. "And... I'm... er... apparently a fr-fruh... a fruh-fruufro," He swallowed, brows furrowing, "Frog." Natsumi Tanaka "Newton Filinas..." she repeated to memorize it as soon as he managed to get it out of his mouth. "It is nice to meet you." she looked at the little badge with a smile, having no idea what a custodian was.. but he sure was happy about it, best to just play along.
Or maybe she had heard it before... Sounded somewhat familiar, but she couldn't quite place it. --Wait, a frog? Hah. She was right. "Aa. I am..." she paused, vaugly wondering if she was the only one on the island that didn't stop to ask what she was being mutated into... "I am.. not sure. I have scales, but my feet..." she shifted so she could show him said anatomy, she had just slipped on sandals before heading out for food, so the webbing was easy to see. "They are strange." Newton Filinas His brows furrowed as he lowered the mask, "M-maybe... I... ah... I w-wouldn't... er.. know... um." He cleared his throat, pulling himself as far upright as he could, but his changed legs still were proving difficult, and although he was over six feet tall himself, he remained far shorter than her in his ruined posture. "So... so.... y-you... eat... insects t-too?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi shrugged, rising to her feet when he did, giving a small brush off of her knees. She'd gotten dirt on them when she had jumped to the choking man's aid. " I.. guess so.." she chuckled some, that was her first insect afterall. When she had finished brushign off her knees she was abruptly reminded of her state of dress, and just how apparnt her pregnancy was. Her eyes seemed to widen, and she looked as though she'd been startled by something, before she stood straight and crossed her arms across her stomach. Awkwardly trying to continue the conversation posed like that. "I aa... That was my first. But I have been wanting to for a while now.." she admitted as an after thought, hoping to make him feel better as the initial discovery had made her. Newton Filinas Perhaps fortunatly for Natsumi, Newt was a very polite man. If there was anything more impolite about remarking on a women's weight- he wasn't sure he wanted to know. Especially concidering that she was seemingly self concious about the issue. Instead he swallowed, "I... ah... w-was about to go inside... I eat l-late at n-night so I d-don't... r-run into any of the sub-subjects, y-you know? I d-dont' want to c-catch any more! B-but um... I m-mean... m-maybe it's not so bad if... if y-you're... n-not alone d-doing it?" He seemed hopefull at the idea of another insectivor. Granted, frogs had been known to eat just about anything they could fit in their mouths, but deep down, he supposed, all his inner amphibian wanted was a nice, big, fat, juicy, wriggling worm. His stomach did a flip-flop as his human mind had to cope with this. He wondered how the pudgy scaled woman was handling it. Natsumi Tanaka The stutter was a bit tricky, but not as tricky as Alec's accent had been. She listened, nodding to what he said. She simply assumed what he meant by running into other subjects was because he didn't want anyone to see him eating insects. "I came out because I was hungry as well.." she smiled, "We could... find some more, if you would like? You have spilt yours..." she noted to the few worms that were excaping the insectivore's clutches. The seemed to have spilled out of his pot when he fell moments before. Newton Filinas "Ah-" He seemed to just realize this, fumbling clumsily with his mask befor digging at the ground again. He had no idea how frogs managed to catch their own dinners- hop around and snatch them from the air, he supposed. On this tropical island, that didnt's eem vey hard, although his aim still was needing improvement. Worms were trickier, though, but the tastiest to his changed tongue. He had, in private, experimented with a few others- dragon flies were the easiest to spot, but they were quick, and roaches, while having a wonderful sort of crunch gave him the chills. "Th-those t-took for-forever to find!" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi suddenlly felt bad for him. She had never thought about how hard it must have been to catch so many worms, but.. she could definatly imagine. Since he hadn't seemed to notice her stomach, she figured the dark was hiding it enough, and moved her arms to kneel and start going after the worms. She frowned, digging her fingers into the dirt around one that was jsut about to dissapere beneith the ground. She shivered some as she felt it on her fingers, trying to pull it back up. So slimey.. and to think she'd just eaten one made her stomach turn.
She gave a tiny yelp as it almost got away, catching it again and quickly holding it out to Newton. "H-Here is one..." she muttered meekly, she wasn't a bug person... But still, while holding the one worm out, she used her free hand to grasp around for any more. Newton Filinas He smiled timidly, dropping it into the pot with what ones he had been able to salvage. "W-would... y-you like to j-join me? I m-mean... ah... it's n-not very fun to eat alone and... I m-mean it's d-dark out um... I c-could c-catch some beatles- th-those are n-nice and crun-crunchy-" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi grinned to herself as she managed to get another one... There was a slight joy in catching the little creatures as they tried to excape.. It was a new feeling, but there none the less. She passed it into the bucket as well, giving a glance around in hopes to find a few more stragglers, but then her attention was drawn by Newton's voice.
Her stomach immediatly agreed to the offer, food. Food was good... Her pregnant stomach demanded it. Still, she retained herself, giggling lightly to the beetles bit. "I would love to do that! Beatles, yes? That sounds better than the sticky worms..." She gave a tiny distastful look to the worms, but it only lasted a moment before she seemed to return to her smiling self. The offer of food and companionship at once was enough to get her excited at the moment. Newton Filinas He seemed to become a bit excited, in an exhausted, emotionally constipated, panic-edged sort of way. "I d-don't know about t-taste... b-but the w-worms s-swallow well, but th-the ones w-with sh-shells are e-easier to ch-chew... er... m-more p-pleasant.. I m-mean... I imagine th-that they're c-crisps! Or... or p-peanuts... or... s-something..." He trailed off, getting embarassed again. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi listened, slightly intrigued... he sure seemed to know his bugs. In a way.. that made her feel better. The fact that she wasn't the only one wanting to eat bugs... But at teh same time, his general attitude was making her slightly nervious. She wasn't used to having to try and take lead, so the thought of messing up when offering things and trying to make him feel more comfortable was in turn making her nervious as well.
With a small gulp, she nodded, "Then... Crunchy is peanuts.. So then the worms would be... noodles, yes?" she smiled, liking the sound of noodles and peanuts much better than worms and beatles. Newton Filinas Newt thought about it, blushing slightly at the thought, "I... I sup-sup-suppose... th-that makes some sort of sence... I hadn't th-thought about it th-that way-" it made him feel a bit better, truthfully. He wasn't exactly fond of the idea of what he was putting into himself either. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi's smile widened when he agreed to her comparison, before her stomach broke their conversation with a growl to remind her of her original purpous. A single worm wasn't enough to appease it. She blushed at the noise, putting a hand to her stomach... Which was only followed by a newly discovered fluttery feeling. The baby's kick made her eyes move to her stomach for a moment. "Aa..." She took a step foreward, hoping he would take the hint to lead the way to the crunchy bugs. Newton Filinas "Ah- oh! Are... y-you alright?" He straightened as best as he could in his froggish crouch, peering up at her in concern, "Wh-when did you eat l-last?" The fact that the lizard-like woman was pregnant hadn't occured to the custodian still. He was clueless on many complicated levels. Natsumi Tanaka "Yes.. I am fine." she offered a small smile, pausing to think back to when she had last eaten. "I.. ate dinner." she wasn't sure on exact times, but dinner probably had long passed judging by the dark of the island. "I guess I am hungry..." She gave a small, nervious, laugh as she realized she just stated the obvious. Either way.. back to the matter at hand. Actually getting their food. "We are going to go and catch beatles?" Newton Filinas "Ah- h-here," He handed her the bucket of recovered worms, politely, ever the willing servant, "I'll g-get them if you find a pluh-pluh-place to sit!" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi peered at the bucket, holdind it carefully. Last thing she wanted to do was lose his hard earned worms.. again. "A-Alright..." his stutter was contagious "If it is not too much trouble." She added with a smile, turning around once he confirmed it was fine... She had no idea how to catch beatles anyways, so she was thankful that he had offered.
Now.. to find a seat... she peered around the area, there were duplexes and the the road that went between them. No sign of any seats... She moved along the path some, squinting at the darkness... Aha! Benches. Two of them placed right outside the familair cafeteria entrance. With that found, she moved over to it, first setting the pot atop it then moving to brush away bits of twigs and dirt so they could sit when Newton got back. Newton Filinas It wasn't long befor the janitor came hop-hobbling back in his funny broom-handle-utilizing gate, his cheaks swollen with something that seemed to squirm inside, "Mnnnn!!" Natsumi Tanaka There. She smiled at the now as clean as possible bench seats, dusting her hands off, only to notice Newt hobbling over. What perfect timeing. She smiled at first seeing him, giving a tiny wave to make sure he had seen where she had moved to. Then she noticed the full mouth... It took her the breifest of moments to catch on, before she started fumbling around grabbing the pot and hurring to meet him halfway, "Here." She held the pot out to his face for him to spit the assumed beatles into. The idea of a mouth full of live insects was beyond disturbing... And in a wierd way, it was nice of him to endure such a thing just to bring them back to share. Newton Filinas His face was pale and sweating, his nervious trembling seeming to have increased horribly. He was fairly horrified by the situation as well, but kept as quiet and polite as possible. How else could he have transported them for her? He gagged as they squirmed uncomfortably, befor spitting them into the pot with their previous catches, gasping for air and gave a terrified shudder. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi flinched at the sight of him spitting beatles into a pot of wiggling worms... No, no. "Peanuts and noodles." She reminded him, though it was mostly for herself. He looked uncomfrotable, it was obvious, so knowlagably she turned towards the table. "I found a place to sit!" she stated cheerily, moving towards it. "See?" Newton Filinas He panted, still looking naucious even as he hopped over to sit across from her, "Ah... ah... N-noodles and... and puh-peanuts...." He managed. One had remained stuck to his gooey tongue, and his jaws clenched down on it with a crunch. Natsumi Tanaka She settled herself in her seat, swallowing hard as she looked at their meal. "Itadakimasu..." she mumbled, normally she kept it inside her head but the unpleasent thought of eating bugs had let it slip out. With that said, she reached in, plucking out one of the beatles and staring at it. Peanut... she noted, that thought was broken by a tiny buzz the creature gave with it's broken wings. PeanutPeanutPeanut. With that, she shut her eyes tightly, shoving it in her mouth and chewing.
She was suprised. It didn't taste near as bad as she had thought, somewhat like shrimp, and it gave her a strange sense of satisfaction. Like giving into onea those bad itches after spending hours trying to ignor it. Sure the idea that it was a bug made her stomach turn, but that was being overriden by the repetative thought that this was just a peanut.
With a pause between swallowing the first, she smiled slightly.. Looking to Newt for a moment "Aa.. Thankyou." she reached for another beatle, pausing before downing it as well. Newton Filinas Newt's tonge shot out across the table to snatch the bugs as they attempted to escape by scuttling over the edge of the pot and onto the table, managing to crunch them at least once befor befor forced to swallow to avoid his own revulsion. "B-b-bon appetit, eh?" He laughed nerviously. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi stood, peering into the bottum of the empty pot. "That is it.." she noted, feeling suprisingly full from the bug-meal. Sure it wasn't completely full.. but her hunger and cravings had subsided, which was good enough for her. With that, she shifted out of her seat, ready to call it a night... She had already been sleeping when her stomach woke her, and now that it had finished it's buisness sleep was sounding good. "Thankyou, again. I must be going to bed... My duplex number is 46." Newton Filinas "If... if y-you ever n-need any cus-cus-custodial assistance, I'm in Dup-duh..-Doo... Duplex n-number fif-... " he swallowed, still recovering from their disconcertingly squirming dinner, "Fifty two." If he hadn't been green befor, it was rather undeniable now. "I t-take house-c-calls," He gave a watery smile. Natsumi Tanaka "Okay." She smiled, not having her previous color either, but she was trying to avert her thoughts for the moment.. Bugs creeped her out enough without having to think that she had just eaten them. "Fifty two..." She repeated, trying to memorize it, also noting to relook up custodian.
"If you need anything--"her sentance was cut off by a yawn, which she quickly covered with her hand "Please ask." She tried to return the gesture, since he was offering to help her she had to offer the same back. It was just good mannors.
With that she she waved, "Good night." and turned to start back towards her duplex, running the strange happenings with Newt over in her mind as she went.

Islands were bloody boring as hell. It had been a good couple of weeks since Thom had seen, well...anyone at all, and it was driving him absolutely batty. He was quickly running out of ways to amuse himself. One could only kick a soccer ball at the wall for so long. The beach got old when there was no one else around, and he had agreed not to attempt rock climbing until he and Rex had managed to acquire some safety gear.
And that left...not much. He was a very social person by nature. Admittedly, back home most of that socializing had been with the team, but that was socializing nonetheless. He was almost always in the company of someone or other at home. On the island? There were very few people who he didn't expect a 'Dickhead' from, and he hadn't been able to track any of those down.
...BUT--and somehow this thought hadn't occurred to him before hand--there was a someone upstairs! Thrilled by this sudden realization, and feeling rather moronic for having not thought of it sooner, he escaped his horribly dull duplex and raced up the steps to Natsumi's, cheerfully knocking on the door.

Natsumi had been settled on her bed, in a comfy pair of shorts and a sleeveless shirt, both working well to excape any form of being hot. She had taken to reading a book while laing on her side, her swell of a baby prevented her from laying on her stomach, and the tail had prevented laying on her back. But alas, as mid day grew nearer, she became drowsey, and at some point had slipped off into dream land.
A knock on her door ripped her from that world, as she jumped some, quickly rolling off the comfy bed to wander over to her door. Still looking half-asleep, she pulled open the door seeming to wake some when she was met with the face of her friend. "Aa.. Thom." She greeted with a soft smile, completley forgetting her state of dress.

"Natsumi!" He beamed when she opened the door, happy just for the moment of human interactions. Two weeks was far, far too long to not speak to anyone. "I'm sorry if I've interrupted anythin'," he apologized, absently noting her state of dress. "I didn't 'ave anythin' t' do, an' I 'aven't spoken with anythin' since... Well, since we last talked, so I thought I'd drop by.."

Natsumi shook her head, smile widening when he seemed so excited to see her. "No, nothign at all..." She took a step back and to the side from her door opening it a bit wider to invite him in. "I had only fallen asleep while reading..." She chuckled some, quickly waking up. Atleast she was somewhat of a morning person. "Nothing exciting."

He graciously accepted the invitation, stepping inside with a cheery look around even though the room hadn't changed a bit since his last visit. "More excitin' than what I've been up to, I'm sure. I've never been so bored in all m' life." As he reflected on his last visit, a certain memory came back and he quirked a brow, glancing over his shoulder at her. "I trust I don't 'ave any 'there's a monster b'hind you' stares t' expect t'day, correct?"

Natsumi closed the door as he walked in, the fact he was a man and in her room occured to her once more... But atleast now they were friends, so the inital childish embaressment was ebbed. Still there though... The small blush on her face made that more apparent.
Said blush only intensified when he mentioned her previous reaction to him, "Mouu..." she gave a small playful pout. "So mean..." Her pout broke into a smile as she moved to take a seat on her bed, moving the book she'd been reading out of the way. Thom was the only person on the island she felt comfortable teasing, and would probably stay that way. It was like he didn't really expect anything from her... He had even played football with her. Which she found remarkable.
As she reached for the book however, she noticed what she was wearing... And apparently, the monster had poped out of the tub behind Thom again. She looked at him first, to see if he had that same look that Alec had when he saw, then biting her lip she crossed her arms over her stomach, hoping to block it from view.

The blush did not go unnoticed, though he merely laughed at her words. "Not at all! I simply want to be sure it is not a daily occurrance--or, if it is, I want t' be ready for it. Maybe movin' conversations t' my room would forestall it." Chuckling, he stepped over to sit beside her on the bed, reaching past her to inspect the book she had been reading but pausing when he noted the...look.
His smile faded, and he raised a brow. It would be a daily thing, then. However, he soon took notice of her obvious attempts to hide whatever she was hiding, and without so my as a by your leave her reached and took her hands, guiding her arms out of his line of sight. He blinked once, twice, and finally lifted his eyes to hers, though he didn't release his grip on her hands. "...You're pregnant?"

She had given a small laugh with him before the whole occurance.. Now, ehr heart was picking up pace when he came at her... Almost as though she knew exactly what he was doing. Nonono "Aa..." she squeaked in protest as her arms were moved, staring at him nerviously. Her mind was racing.. what would he think? Would he be okay with it... Like nita... Or... would he get mad at her? Think she was horrible?
She flinched when his eyes met hers, finding herself unable to move. For a second she thought she heard something crack when he just flat out said it. She stayed frozen for what seemed like an eternity, before finally speaking in a soft nervious voice "Y-Yes..."

Releasing her hands, he sat back and let his own hands fall to the bed on either side of him, palm down on the mattress. For a long while he was silent, watching her contemplatively and offering not a word of either good or bad. However, he finally relaxed a tad, offering a smile once more. "Well, then, congratulations, I s'pose. When're you due?"

Natsumi shifted back as he let go, her hands fell to her lap along her line of sight following. She stayed silent, her own heartbeat seemed to echo in her head through the silence. The all too long and awkward silence.
She bit her lip, debating saying something... But before she could decide on what to say he spoke up. She flinched initially... but, then it clicked. It wasn't bad.. congradulations. She brought her eyes back to him, smiling cautiously. "I uh... In... December." she swallowed hard. Perhaps the whole pregnancy idea wasn't as bad as she had thought... Or maybe they were just being nice and lieing.
