She scrambles to her feet, nearly tripping in her haste. "High Priestess, wait! What shall befall the temple if you leave?" She gestures to herself, eyes downcast. "I am merely a follower of Her greatness. I surely am unable to maintain the temple." She looks up, imploring. "Please reconsider!"

Lerena, shocked to hear such words spoken by the High Priestess, stared in horror at the clutching of her chest. When it was obvious the pain had stopped, she just looked befallen with pain. At that very moment, the fact that she was easily able to connect to others' emotions had ruled her. "I...am sorry, my Goddess. I should not be in misery in your presence. Forgive me!" She dropped to her knees, knowing that she was quite tainted to allow such into her heart. Misery? Surely not in the presence of the great Goddess Kisara-sama! She bowed strongly in hopes of her apology getting through.

Dragonblade was the only one who kept her composure.
"tch... Is that it, then? You're going to leave your Lady's followers for the sake of the Lady?! Don't you go anywhere before taking a good look at your choices: You can either leave this Sanctuary and connect with the Lady's Divinity, but leave Her follows alone and misguided, leaving the temple unprotected from darker forces. Or you can stay here and let the Children of this Holy Temple watch over you and care for you as you re-affirm yourself to the Great White Goddess, and let someone else more well-versed in questing search for forgiveness from our Goddess Kisara. You have clearly been inflicted great pain. Is leaving such a smart and safe idea...?" She used her anger and reason to cover up her pain.

Dragonblade had a point and it was this that gave her hope and happiness, because she knew that abandoning the love of the Great White Goddess, Kisara, would bring great misfortune. A smile was on her lips, and even through the sadness no tears followed. Her head was bowed as she hoped the High Priestess would reconsider.

She was taken a back by Dragonblade's words. She nodded. "A...You're right. I was foolish to think that leaving would solve the problem." She regained her composure quickly. "Well then, who do you suggest we should we send in my place?"

Lerena looked around. "Might you accept the humble opinion of a follower? Perhaps Dragonblade should go. It was her idea after all." she suggested. She wasn't smiling anymore, because she couldn't bear it. However, although she wanted to go, she knew it would be best if she didn't. Wanting something did not make it right or particularly a good idea.

Dragonblade silently gave a curt nod. "I was given a shield for a reason." If there was any greater reason for her being than this moment, Dragonblade knew it not. Just like the Wanderer and the Prince of Dragons before her, it was her turn now, to begin that journey.

Dragonblade moved past her friend and the temple's inhabitants. Kneeling at the altar, she spoke quietly to the Goddess with a solemn determination characteristic of her prayer:

"I asked of you a means of protection, and I asked of you a quest. And even at the expense of Your high priestess, You would give me what I asked.

And this, my Lady, what I am to do now, is the epitome of my devotion to You, and Your temple. I know who I am to save, I know the price of saving her, and I know my fate in the end. The only question left, and the last thing I will ever ask of You is just...

What must be done? "

May I offer myself as a Worshipper of the Goddess Kisara? I also apologize to Her Highness, Queen of the Gods if I have interrupted and I humbly beg Her forgivness.

{Oh, don't worry, you're not interrupting anything ^^ It was backstory for an in-guild plot even that never quite got underway...} Ahh, Our Lady is always looking to bring happiness, even in times of turmoil, dear child.
