Are you using Painter? Or something more obscure and/or awesome?

I'm using a combination of OpenCanvas and Photoshop. OpenCanvas gives me more intuitive brushes to use for the island and the water, while Photoshop allows me to tweak the results. I tend to approach my art like a whittler does: I start off with a big block of scribble, then carve away at it a little bit at a time to arrive at my result. sweatdrop
The layers above the water and the island are photoshop-only, and will end up looking more like the Tokugawa. This is because OpenCanvas doesn't allow me to create transparent images...which I need for the layers.

It's been so long since I did any CG... crying I've got GIMP 2.0, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to use it to its potential. Even just to clean up my lineart.

Completely scrapped the old island, relaid out, and everything finalized. May I present to you.... the Gaia National Guard Recruitment Outpost! And yeah, I decided to connect it to The Crater map after all sweatdrop

It looks great, but has two small problems:
1: The VT seems to have resize-blur, not motion blur. 2: The bridge is a low-lying area, but it's shown as going over the dividing line.

Tanasha It looks great, but has two small problems: 1: The VT seems to have resize-blur, not motion blur. 2: The bridge is a low-lying area, but it's shown as going over the dividing line. Thanks! The first is definitely motion blur...there was no resizing done on it, and the filter used on the image was Motion Blur, set at a -45 degree axis. sweatdrop The bridge is an artistic license thing...the VT does it too (but yes, the VT is more action oriented, and higher). I was kind of iffy on this too, but for me, I liked how the bridge linked the top and bottom pieces. I dunno, is it too much? I'll toss up a poll I guess.

You know, I already liked the first one (cept for the mushy mushy building and wrong facing tokugawa) but this one just rocks.
I basically give you a thumbs up and I will continue to wonder where the sign up forms are for ASDF and GA. sweatdrop
The fences are done alright, the inclusion of a VT is good.
Scale wise, is that how huge the building is? Just wanting to know. Or is this done like Gaia's map?
Sorry! I have questions! Dun kill me ma'am!

Thanks very much! whee sweatdrop You've been looking all this time for sign-up forms? Sorry about that, I thought that you had been waiting for something else. ^^; Just post a background in the Post your IC Profile thread. If it doesn't work, we'll let you know what needs changing and work with you to get it right. You'll want to create seperate characters for the GA and ASDF, and I'd encourage you to look at Chaos Seed too. The fences were the hardest part of this whole thing xd I'm certain they were redone over 5 times before I was ok with them. The intent was to create a map that would fit on Gaia's map, so scale is not accurate at all. sweatdrop I looked at numbers for a little bit, then realized that the image composition required something much different. Amusingly, I think painting a realistic image of a totally scale-accurate topdown map of the outpost would have been easier... just in this case not as cool. xd

Hell, im surprised so much has been cleaned up here sweatdrop It looks pretty.
Recruitment thread looks very informative. But more importantly, i dont think i saw any Url linking that recruitment thread to the Guild page. Is that done on purpose?

...you know, it's always the details that are the most simple that you end up completely forget about. sweatdrop Thanks for pointing that out Thrie!
Thanks for the compliment, Thrie! Like your baby flying there? The layers in the PSD file are actually titled 'Thrie's plane' and 'Thrie's contrails' 3nodding

Oh! That was on purpose? Yes! whee heart Because of that, ~horrible asian accent~ 'Me love you long time!' xd
I thought it was just a coicidence that it was there. Considering the map containts alot of grey scale colors so i thought it might've been the purpose of that, 'uniformaly'.
Oh also... the Link to the Anti-munchie project. Its kind of hard to find the "exact" information On the Anti-munchi project. Hell, i hardly was able to find out much other then a discussion about the use of Star War force power and its Light saber's Force Crystals... and their effeectiveness against a Man wielding a Machine gun. sweatdrop
I wonder if it should also include a cleaner version of it such as the one posted in the announcement in this guild? Not harm in providing a Conclussioned and the Source, hai?
