It's speculated that the two entertained themselves with staring at the fabric for at least an hour, both joints spent and the put-out butts scattered on the floor.

Then, Kaveri looks up from the fabric for a brief moment, forgetting what she had just done for the past hour. "That was cool," she murmurs, then blinks. "Hey... we should take a shower or something. That fabric makes me think of water."

Hey, another thing they can stare at for an hour! Let's hope Kaveri isn't like a turkey in the rain and stares at the showerhead with her mouth open to the point of drowning. She gets up and starts to strip, leaving a meandering trail of clothes leading to the bathroom.

This is either going to result in comedy or disaster.

Zach blinked up at Kaveri when she startled him out of his hour-long infatuation with her blue skirt. He looked down at it again, then back up. By then, however, Kaveri had already gotten up.

"Sounds good," he called to her, failing to realize she'd just stripped entirely. After a moment in which one could practically hear the gears in his brain moving, he considered doing the same thing. One didn't shower with their clothes on. He, too, wriggled out of of his clothes, albeit a little too clumsy to avoid ripping a hole in the back of his shirt with a horn. He ignored it, tossing the shirt aside into the pile of his other clothes. Now completely devoid of clothing, he followed Kaveri into her bathroom.

... As it turned out, the showerhead was fascinating.

Home alone
Internal RP

Kaveri shamefully slunk up the stairs to her duplex, shivering as she stood outside the door. She reached for the knob and pulled it open, stepping inside and locking it tight behind her. It had looked just the way she'd left it - complete with the trail of clothes leading to the bathroom. She took off her shoes and threw them in the sink, she'd wash those things off later.

Right now, she needed a shower. Peeling off her muddy, bloody, and soaked-through clothes, she tossed them to the floor with a wet smacking sound similar to that of the noise made when whatever it was that fell off of Aubrey when the guards took her away. She shuddered at the noise, kicking clothes out of her way as she went towards the bathroom. Her neck drooped the entire time, her expression tired and morose.

She stepped into the shower, turning on the hot water and standing with her back to the showerhead. She couldn't get today off of her mind. Her feeling of impending doom, living with the fact that she probably killed and tried to eat a staff member, the horrible sight and smell, and the still-present weight of wondering what the hell she was turning into added to the whole mess. She knew she'd get in trouble for it sooner or later.

But... wouldn't the staff have acted quicker? If she was zapped, why was she still there and not in a cage or someplace worse? How come they waited for so long to shock her, to the point where Aubrey was mortally wounded? It made no sense. She was apparently conscious long enough to even try to eat Aubrey.

Kaveri looked down at her mutated hands, the curved, sickle-like talons almost staring back at her. Were they really capable of doing that much damage? She saw the massive amount of blood at the scene. Was it at her hands? These horrible, monstrous hands? But she didn't recall there being any blood on her hands, just in her mouth.

She turned around, squeezing her eyes shut and putting her face in the stream of hot water. She grabbed the bar of soap and furiously started to scrub herself down. It's best to cleanse herself of this as quickly and as harshly as possible... she hoped it would get the smell off of her body. It was humiliating. Kaveri looked down and watched the dirty, soapy water spiral down the drain, wanting to liquify herself and go down with it.

Maybe they were just waiting to put her away and lock her up in a cage. Waiting for her to lower her guard, to think she's safe and go unpunished for her deed.

Or maybe they were still planning on what to do with her, something that's worse than being put in a cage, just as she had feared...

Kaveri felt small. For the first time in her life, she felt like she couldn't take down The Man. She had been arrested and jailed many times before, but always for things that she didn't consider a crime - drug possession, trespassing, civil disruption, minor assault and battery... but now, she had murder to add to that otherwise pathetic list of small crimes. She was a real criminal now. The Man had a reason to put her down, and it was for something that likely wasn't even her own fault.

But there was that other voice in her conscience coming back, something she was thinking about earlier before her scent attracted Cassidy and Pyroth's attention in the jungle. Had she been framed?

Only the men behind the cameras knew for sure. Kaveri didn't have a damn clue, but she suspected herself despite the fact that this kind of thing went completely against her personal philosophy. She didn't really know the other islanders well enough, much less staff, to narrow down a suspect other than herself. Sure, she had seen Sabin arguing with Aubrey the other day... but would Sabin kill the girl in cold blood due to a heated argument spawned by being accidentally hit by an arcade machine? He didn't seem that petty to her at all, but then, she hardly knew Sabin outside of hearsay and her introduction to this awful island.

Kaveri washes the suds off her body, rubbing at her temples with frustration. "None of this s**t's making any ********' sense..."

The walk back to the duplex was a rather quiet one, and Kaveri kept a somber air around her the entire duration of the trip. At last, she emerged from the jungle to the backyard of her duplex, approaching a familiar but still recovering vegetable garden. It was getting better each day, and despite having been thrown around a little bit it seemed the plants had benefited from the rain more than they had been harmed.

Circling to the front of the duplex, Kaveri climbed the stairs and opened the door, motioning for Zach to follow her inside. "Just watch your step," she warns, "I have some stuff for my project laid out around the floor."

Sitting on some old newspaper is a brightly-colored -- mostly reds, oranges, and yellows with white trim -- mask that looked a lot like the Balinese Garuda. It was a very pointy thing with bulging red eyes and a protruding, open beak bearing lots of sharp, conical teeth. Zach might have seen this mask taking shape in its earlier phases, it seems almost finished now.

Zach didn't press for further conversation along the walk. It was perhaps better that they didn't talk. Everything was somewhat surreal already, almost unpleasantly so. His feet were aching at this point - nothing seemed capable of getting them used to long walks, especially thanks to their odd toe shape. He followed behind Kaveri, glad that the blood on his hand was no longer dripping.

Upon stepping into the duplex, he was surprised at the progress she'd made on the strange mask. Kaveri was definitely resourceful when it came to doing things. She'd already proven that when she'd turned his mangled old hat into a bag. Despite the feeling that the overall mood was somewhat low, but he couldn't help being impressed by her odd project and commenting. "Looks like you've been busy." He didn't recognize it as looking like Garuda, but rather a distorted bird's face.

"I've been spending a lot of time alone lately," Kaveri admitted, looking over the mask briefly. She'd need to ask for waterproof sealant when she was done, for she was to hang the mask on her door when she was finished. "The whole mess with Aubrey and my garden being a bit trashed have kept me at the duplex a lot. So, I've had lots of time to work on my projects..."

She stepped into the bathroom, leaving the door open and looking around under the sink for extra soap. "I really should call those ******** at the lab back and ask them what's up with that, anyways. I just want to know what I did," she said, fishing out an extra bar and setting it in the soap holder in the shower. "Maybe it'll calm my nerves and put a damper on this ******** behavior of mine recently."

"You don't like it?" he asked, genuinely puzzled. Being alone was something he was finding quite enjoyable. It was always confusing why others didn't share that opinion. "Er, I'll try to come over here more if you want. I don't know if you'd want my company though, considering it's my fault for all this Aubrey business in the first place."

"This whole thing has been insane. I really doubt you did anything. I mean, I saw someone else who was drenched in blood too. It was probably set up like that, trying to scare you and everyone else. It really seems like their style, anyhow," he spat, frowning heavily. "Whatever it is they're doing, though, I think they're taking the joke really far. After they tied me up and took me to the lab, I didn't believe I actually attacked Aubrey. I don't know, I just can't shake how Dr. Duvert would know about, well, the jeep, and that I think I changed in one... it's one of the only things I remember from that whole night, and it's not like he can go reading my mind or anything."

"I don't know, you may not like the answer... and besides, they could lie to you just as easily as tell the truth." He shrugged before following her to the bathroom to wash the various disgusting elements off his oversized left hand.

By the time he'd reached the bathroom's doorframe, he looked down. His feet were totally muddied. Evidently he'd created some long-toed tracks on the floor of her duplex.

"Spending time alone isn't bad once in a while," Kaveri shook her head, "but as of late I've just been spending more and more time to myself and I haven't really wanted to leave the duplex. I need to force myself to be more social or something. When I'm alone, I think too much." Her recent aloofness hadn't gone unnoticed, as well as the pervasive vulture instincts welling up when she had spent too much time in isolation. She found herself frequently going to that clearing in the last few days, and more often than she'd like to admit.

"Really? That would be awesome," she smiled, "I'd appreciate getting visits every now and then. Hell, drag me out of the house if ya have to. There's gotta be more to this place than what I've seen so far... and really, I need to give my poor bike some love. It hasn't budged an inch since I got here." Hopefully, the tires still have a bit of air in them. If not, she could always pester the ladies at the cafeteria or something for a bike pump... provided she could still ride it without her toes getting caught in the chain.

"I'd do anything to get this s**t off my mind. This whole place is a nightmare, I don't really know what to believe anymore. All of a sudden, the concept of angry rabbit spirits coming back for revenge is making as much sense as turning into ******** animals," the woman groaned, wiggling out of her clothes and tossing them to the ground. "I don't even trust the pot around here anymore, unless it's home-grown. That reminds me, I should go check on Billy later, see how he's doing..."

...Or perhaps just do some stealth gardening when the octopus man wasn't looking. It's a thought.

"If it weren't for the fact I hate chemical s**t and the fact it would burn my skin off, the idea of washing down with bleach would be very appealing right now." Kaveri had recalled the night she went out to the clearing and found those odd little bits, picking them up with her bare hands without a care in the world for sanitation, and just how many times she washed her hands the moment she got home. This was only slightly worse than that, having only been the blood and guts of a rabbit and not parts of a human being...

She stepped over the rim and into the shower, drawing the curtain save for a small crack so Zach could step in if he felt so inclined, and turned the water on as hot as she could handle it.

Zach didn't spend a lot of time looking at Kaveri as she undressed, an even more deep shade of crimson creeping slowly up his face. It wasn't like he'd never seen her naked before, but he wasn't one to stare. He busied himself turning the faucet of the sink and waited for the water to get hot, holding both hands under the stream expectantly. His tail flicked from side to side as he waited. The icy temperature slowly creeped up to something hotter, feeling more cleansing. After the majority of loose fur had been swept off his fingers he grabbed a bar of soap and vigorously rubbed it between both hands. One bar just didn't feel like enough, and it was aggrivating how blood-red a lot of his skin was becoming thanks to the scales. Knowing when to stop scrubbing was going to be difficult.

"It's not really a bad thing to do here. You saw what that guy thought of us today. He's not going to be any different when he stays here as long as we have, but... it's the way people look at us like that... makes me feel so... well... so far from being who I was. To lock myself in my duplex is to do everyone else a favor." He placed the bubble-covered soap back where he'd snatched it from, now preening his hand for any rabbit fur or blood that hadn't been washed away by the water. Brushing his fingers along the scales of his hand was an odd feeling. As much as he knew it was his hand, it still gave his mind the thought that he was trying to grab at some monstrous red crocodile. "I've been so adamantly against all the changes, I really never thought about what I'd return to if this nightmare was over until, er, someone pointed that out. It's hard to say which is worse, though.... and I'm scared of that."

Satisfied with the hygiene of his hands, he now had to attend to the issue of his feet. Washing them in the sink just wasn't going to happen. He paused to look up, and got hit with his reflection in the mirror. That was one of the drawbacks of the island. Every time you thought you'd seen something horrible enough, it got worse. And he had two more times to go before his reflection would stop changing on him. His yellow eyes flickered briefly as he noticed Kaveri had hopped in the shower. Maybe he'd join her. It wasn't like she'd never seen him naked in a shower before... and there were no parts of the changes that worth hiding. He tried to avoid glancing at the sheet of reflective glass.

"As absurd as it all sounds, I guess you can't doubt anything here. Being rational here only makes things worse, but at the same time crazy is what starts all the problems..." He shook his hands a little to get most of the water off. "Billy? The nutjob with the tentacles?" He wriggled his fingers for emphasis, even though she couldn't see.

He glanced down at his hands. Red. The color immediately made him feel dirty all over again. It had taken him hours in the shower when he'd trudged back from the cave to wash off that horrible amount of blood. The strange sticky feeling of blood all over flashed through his memories again and he grimaced. Nothing was going to get this blood off, just as sure as Lady MacBeth had been on the subject. He didn't have the patience to wait for Kaveri to get out, and as long as everything was going to be upside-down nowadays, he supposed he'd have to take his views of modesty and shove them somewhere largely uncomfortable.

Rubbing at his arms while facing the shower, he called out to her. "Say, uh, Kaveri... do you mind if I join you?"

Kaveri scrubbed herself down rather furiously, especially her hands and her legs where the blood had spattered when she dropped the rabbit. A good deal of soap was rubbed on her face, too -- anything to just wipe it all away so it would be gone. She could hear Zach talking over the sound of the shower, and stopped scrubbing down for a moment to listen and respond.

"I honestly didn't expect for the doctor to have enough balls to drag another onto the island so soon," Kaveri said over the running water, "the other people seemed kind of... used to the weirdness. I'm still having trouble adjusting to some of the more... unusual sights, but nothing surprises me anymore." Between Zachary, Billy, and herself, nothing else could be quite as weird, could it?

Although she could not be seen from behind the shower curtain, she nodded in silent agreement... the whole prospect of this place was scary. She didn't even know what she was turning into and she had frightening and alien thoughts creep into her mind at an unnerving rate. Her various new attributes were from no living animal she knew of, and it would be impossible to turn someone into a dinosaur, right? But then again, here she was in the same duplex as a 'dragon.' Surely a dinosaur wouldn't be as far-fetched, would it?

But it kind of made sense to her. The long neck, the talons, the large big toe -- she'd remembered seeing Jurassic Park and the velociraptors, with their very big toe-claws that could easily slice someone open with a single kick. She would rather wait and see instead of asking the labs directly, it was something she wanted to try and figure out herself.

"You saw that new guy. That is what happens when you try to rationalize this place," she said before she ducked into the water and rinsed the suds off, then chose to scrub down again for good measure. "Yeah, the tentacle guy. Seems kinda quiet, but I didn't really detect any 'bad' vibes off of him. I've squatted with guys like him. Well, alright, they didn't have any accents like that, and obviously no tentacles... but still."

"Huh? Yeah, go ahead. Plenty of room in here," Kaveri stuck a hand out behind the curtain and waved him in.
