"Apperantly I can't do much when I'm outnumbered. It's hard to fight by yourself, isn't it? Hence the fact that cowards flock together in greater numbers. Gives them a chance to look tough and rumble, you think?"
Dusk didn't move as the boy towered over him, his eyes still locked on the others face and his mouth now set in a slight frown. It was highly unknown if Dusk could actually fight or not, considering how timid and shy he usually is. His hands stayed down by his side, and his ears flattened against his head.
"So tell me now, are you going to try and harass me instead of the elder? Is it because I'm smaller, weaker, and perhaps...an easier target?"

The teens face soured at the insult shot his way by the impertinant little...well, what the hell was this kid anyways? He was purple and had sheep ears and tail...whatever. They got plenty of wierdo's around here despite the fact that he and his 'group' made it their personal group to get rid ot them. "You'd best take that back and go on your way you little punk." The teen said with a sneer. "Either that or we remove you and your little girlfriend from our village forcible like."
Toshi clasped her hands together tightly, worried for her friend. She doubted that Dusk could fight, no spirit really knew much about anything unless they learned it, or got a lanturn that gave them that knowledge, and dusk didn't seem like the kind that would take a fighting class. "Oh please let him be okay..." she whispered more to herself than anyone else.

"She's not my girlfriend, and you can't make us. Try with force if you want, but I can bet you that you're no candle compared to what Lune has put me through. So unless you can hit as hard as he can, then you're not threat to me."
Dusk's face slid into a dark smile, his head tilting slightly to the side. He moved his right foot back a bit, almost like he was giving himself a support in case he should rock backwards. His arms stayed crossed, and he closed his eyes in a sort of dare towards the teen. Should the other strike, Dusk would let whatever instinct he had take over. Well, instinct and what Kachan had been showing him in order to defend against Lune's wild mood swings.
"Also...if you're desperate enough to hit someone as small as myself, what does that make you if I destroy you...? Something less, perhaps?"
In his mind Dusk wished the old man to hurry away, so if anything should happen Dusk coudl rely on his reflexes to get him out in a hurry.

Toshi, who had been on the verge of shouting out to dusk that they should just leave and walk around the village, suddenly froze in place as she felt a large, icy presence behind her. She didn't look around though, knowing for sure who it was. Help had arrived, no one would have to fight and get hurt now.
The teen took a step forward, ready to reach out and pummel the little freakish brat in front of him, but was brought by a stand still when he looked back at the magenta haired girl who had remained behind. Only she wasn't alone now. There was a vague, shadowy kind of presence behind her. It was tall, much taller than he, and was becoming clearer by the minute. It was dressed in strange clothes, a long, formal looking black coat with a fancy shirt, sash, and pants under it. Long, blood red hair was braided off to one side of a dreadfully pale face fluttered in a non-existant wind, as did the long coat. Worse yet were those golden eyes that blazed against the deathly pale skin, looking into them made the teenaged boy pale and stumble backwards. "C'mon guys, lets get the hell out of here." He said and turned tail and walked quickly away, trying his hardest not to bolt like a frightened animal.
Toshi whirled around to look behind her to thank the one that had helped her, but there was no one there. Funny, she had been sure he had been there...and yet he wasn't. Judging by the boy's reaction though she was sure someone had been there. Oh well, they were gone now and that was all that mattered.

As soon as the boys had walked off and were out of sight, Dusk dropped to his knees in the dirt, his whole body suddenly shaking with fear. He turned and looked back over his shoulders, his eyes filled with tears.
"Ton-chan, that...that was..."
He couldn't finish his sentence in between his choking sobs, and the small sheep-child continued to cry loudly at his own cost. It was clearly apparent now that while Dusk had been acting brave in front of the boys from earlier, he was terrified out of his mind.
"I...Ton-chan, waaa..."
He dropped down so his face was in the dirt, his tears and sobs still loud as ever despite the muffle.

Toshi completely forgot about the presence that had been behind her in the face of her friend's tears. She ran over to Dusk and wrapped him up in her embrace. "Oh Dusk you were so brave! Don't cry, okay?" she asked and kissed him on the forehead.
"Very brave indeed." came an old, raspy sounding voice. The old man shuffled over to the pair of spirits and smiled a nearly toothless grin down at the weeping boy in Toshi's arms. "Now now little fella, you were just grand! not just anyone around here would stand up to those rotten kids." He said approvingly, waggling a gnarled walking stick in the general direction that the rough and tumble group had dissapeared in.

"Ton-chan, wa."
Dusk rubbed his face against his friend's chest, happy to be in her protective embrace. His sobs died down a little as she gave him a kiss, and they nearly stopped as the old man spoke to him and gave him a compliment.
"I...I just didn't want them to keep hurting you. I don't like...to see people in pain."
Dusk stayed in Toshi's arms, though he moved enough that he could see the old man and speak clearly to him. The man's appearance settled his nerves, as Dusk found him quite darling with his old age. Dusk liked old people and happiness, since sheep are prone to like simple things.

"There now see? It's all okay now." Toshi said, gently stroking Dusk's ebony haired head. She looked up at the old man and smiled at him "Are you okay then? They didn't hurt you?"
"Oh i'm fine I'm fine. Those hooligans didn't get a chance to start much before you and your little knight there arrived." He said with a smile. He looked closer at the pair as though only just now noticing how odd they looked. "Say, what are you two doin in these parts anyways? You seem more like big city folk to me if you don't mind me sayin' so." He observed, scratching his balding head idly.

Dusk looked up at Toshi and smiled too, his eyes no longer watering and his cheeks slowly returning to their natural shade of purple. He moved to stand up, dusting off his elbows and knees once he was on his feet.
"We're from...well...I don't really know the city, but we're from somewhere far, yeah. I came because I'm looking for something, and her, Ton-chan, she came with me because she's my best friend...and she's looking for something too."
Dusk reached down and extended his hand to Toshi, helping her up and still smiling.
"I like this place though, where we are now. Everything seems to be so kind and soft, except for those boys from earlier."

"Well, what is it you're looking for? Maybe I can help you find it in return for helping me."
"Well," Toshi began, pausing to consider before holding her spirit lanturn up for the old man to examine. "We're looking for lanterns like these. See, they don't glow with a normal light. Have you ever seen any like these?" she asked hopefully.

Dusk held his own up as well, feeling a bit at ease as the purple light flickered strongly from within. He always felt good when he was holding onto his lanturn, and he felt good too whenever he was in the light of someone else's lanturn.
"Yes, these. I don't know what my new one should look like...though I'm sure it will feel just as kind and warm as these ones do now."
He nodded at his assumption, and then bent down to pet the back of the pig companion.

"Hmm, you know, I believe I have seen something like that!" The old man said, surprised as he recognized the lanturns for what they were. "It was a month or two ago In the forest city to the east of here. If you're looking for something like that, you should definitely head there." He said with a nod.
Toshi's face lit up in a bright smile. "Really? Thank you so much for the information mister!" she said happily, doing a little jig.

"Ton-chan, that's great news! We should right over there, yeah!!"
Dusk lifted the pig into his arms, doing his own little dance of happiness. It looked like things may be going their way, and that the good dead was always welcome.
"Thank you, thank you! Ton-chan, let's get going!"

"Right! Lets get moving!" Toshi said and dashed off out the opposite end of the village, heading for the east as they had been directed. She waved back at the old man, calling "Thank you so much! Goodbye!"
The old man only laughed and waved back as the pair dashed off. "Young people these days, always in such a hurry. They were such nice children too." he said to himself as he watched them go, a smile on his wrinkled old face.

"Hey, wait!!"
Dusk gave a bow to the old man before chasing after Toshi, the pig still in his arms and protesting slightly at the bouncing movements that the running caused. However Dusk ignored the grunts and soon caught up to his friend, looking over at her with a smile in his eyes.
"Do you think what we're really looking for is there? Or maybe it's gone by now, since he said a few months ago. Either way it's a good lead, right?"
