hah... i was walking from my hotel to megacon with my friends and since parking was crap every few feet there were cosplayers or whatever(so we felt rather "normal") and we had people screaming stuff at us from their windows. XDD quite entertaining.

I was walking from the Despairs Ray concert (last year, saturday in Dallas) back to my hotel for a-kon in this big mob of people. I was wearing my loli outfit which consisted of a pretty normal blouse, a skirt that a made wich had this vertical shirring/ruching to get it draped in scalops at the bottom (there's five lines of ruching), white petti under that, knee-highs, my platform boots-of-a**-kicking (dad calls them combat boots) and I had my wig and headdress on. I had plenty of people (guys mainly) giving wolf whistles or treating me like a prostitute. v.v;;

A lot of Americans for the most part, partake baby-doll into an erotic/erotica form
Every take a strole into some loungerie?
But yah, I dont see the mix, especially when skirts go to knees and mostly the whole body is covered :/

and also considering that the majority of people i'd assume would call someone else a slut would probably have to double take and look at what they're wearing themself.

I have been complimented on a sweater of mine that is lolita and it made me feel good, because I really didn't know how the public would react to it.

They said it was ugly? That's so sad!
I don't wear lolita clothes much, but people seem to compliment me a lot when I do. But I'm usually too embarrassed to wear them in public, it's really sad. So theres just stuff sitting in my closet... *sigh...*
I think it depends on where you live, kind of... I mean, if people like the things or not... if that makes any sense... oh ya, and the age group you're around of course.

...this really creepy old man started talking to me today, and just...generally being strange. He would randomly grab at my clothing and go, "OH, this is pretty!"

It was..highly... ... disturbing, to say the bare least.

I've gotten many rude comments on my Lolita gear, but normally I just reply with a kind "Hey. Let's play a nice, rousing game of shut the ******** up." I don't yell it. In fact, I say it with a smile, happy smile on my face. That might be the eerie bit.

I get plenty of nice compliments too. Being that I live in New York, comments vary. People are highly eclectic here, so you never know what to expect.

Hm.. I've never worn actualy lolita garment to public, but aristocrat, sure. ^^; I mainly have complaints from my mom since she thinks I look like a gypsy as I wear too much white lace with my dark long skirt (the most commonly seen combination on the local Roma.) I shushed her off until recently when I was wearing a garment like that to a store.

After a while of peering at the extensive selection of cookies or something (you know, those big colourful shelves of stuff you can't take your eyes away from) I noticed that this one man had passed me too many times. And kept following me until I was out of the store - appears that he was a part of the store staff. Roma have a bit of infamous reputation here, so I think the man was watching me in case I'd steal anything. I didn't get checked or anything, but it was really creepy.

The funny (yes, I thought it as funny after all) thing here is that I have studied Finnish Romani and know that not a single outfit I wear is near their traditional women's garment. sweatdrop
Apparently some people can't notice the difference..

Haha, you're boots amuse me, because I have a pair of similar boots, black, that my friend Tom calls military/combat boots (though my older sis calls them goth booths...)

I get a lot of "hey lil'bopeep where are your sheep"

but just a suggestion don't go out too late wearing Lolita clothes you might get raped. I almost did. crying

Where I live, I can't wear the clothes I want very often because absolutely nobody does. Yesterday I went for a walk and some girl tried to get her ice lolly on my corset. It's pretty dangerous, to be different in my city. stressed

Edit: I don't mean it's dangerous because people try to get ice cream on you sweatdrop It was just a non-sequitur.

When I was in New York, I didn't see anyone dressed in any unusual style, and I mean AT ALL. It was quite odd.
