Though Priam couldn't see, he could hear what Yu was doing, the way it sounded like glasses being carefully set down. It was such a simple gesture, but he found that it was so thoughtful that another smile had been summoned to his face.
He gave the hand a gentle squeeze. "I need for nothing but your warmth beside me. I'm comfortable, it feels good to be horizontal." He didn't try to tug Yu into bed; he was over quite a bit and there was plenty of room at his side. "Do you want a bedtime story?" he asked, only partly teasing. "I used to read them until I fell asleep. Sometimes, bless his heart, Jarvis will call to read to me if he knows I'm not sleeping well. I have too many committed to memory not to offer them."

Yu tried to school the delighted wonder at the idea of that. “Not like, one of those morality stories that’s supposed to make you feel like a scorpion or anything right?” He asked cautiously though trying to sound teasing even as he gently settled himself on the bed. It really was delightfully soft sort of like Sterling’s- not that he couldn’t sleep anywhere he had to but- this was nice. He glanced back just to get a read on where the dogs were and slid into place beside Priam. He hoped Sterling wouldn’t mind, sleep was always better with someone you trusted and both of them counted. Plus he got a story. “This okay?” He asked cautiously.

Priam was just exhaling contentedly when he heard the familiar tapping of nails on floor, and he couldn't avoid the smile that tugged on his face at the distant weight of Odie putting his chin on the edge of the bed, looking up at Yu with longing eyes. Penny was, surprisingly, not shy; she came up at the foot of the bed and began her ritual of sniffing around and walking in a circle. She was halfway through it when Odie, larger than her, climbed onto the bed carefully.
Priam had braced to be jostled or stepped on and held onto Yu's hand a little tighter, like the physical connection gave him strength enough to bare it. Penny's back pressed against his foot but brought him no pain, and Odie settled himself next to her, resting his chin on Yu's shin.
He breathed a little sigh of relief and carefully passed the blanket over, tucking Yu in--just barely, given his physical limitations. "I'll do this properly soon," he assured. "I'm perfectly comfortable. If you need more of the blanket blanket, let me know. You'll have to pull a bit, I'm afraid I've stretched as much as I can. Close your eyes and tell me when you're comfortable. I'll tell you a good story, a nice little fairy tale. With happy a happy ending, and not too much stress, so you can fall asleep in the middle and still know that everything works out in the end. No morals to be had. Just a little love and a little magic, and something to inspire deep sleep and good dreams."

“Nah, I don’t need a blanket, you and Odie are pretty warm, never thought I’d be sharing a bed with Horses though.” he teased. “I like the sound of that story though, the world needs more of that… we could all use more like that honestly.” He tipped his head close and closed his eyes with a small sigh. It was nice, soft, warm… hell Priam and Sterling both -smelled- nice which wasn’t something you could take for granted in the world. Hell, half the time he himself smelled like garlic or smoked meat. But it was good here and now. “I should have tucked YOU in…sorry.” He murmured. “I’ll have to practice, We can surprise Sterling with like… master level tucking skills and stories.”

"Oh, there will be plenty of time to return the favor," he assured, stroking the back of Yu's hand with his thumb. Now that he was in bed, he felt the blanket of sleep draping over his mind. "We'll be a good team," he decided, thinking that he could most certainly get used to this.
He snuggled under the blanket, content to keep it all to himself but leaving just enough that Yu could pull more over if he changed his mind.
"Sterling won't see it coming. He'll have no choice but to succumb to a little pampering before bed. Perhaps I'll ask him to bring some of my fairy tale books and I'll read to you both sometimes. I really do love them, I think they're worth sharing." He cleared his throat.
"All right. Don't judge me on this, I'm a little rusty. But I want to give you a good sleep, so I'll do my best."
And, he did.
He recited a happy little story from memory; he closed his eyes about halfway through but continued, voice soft and somewhat melodic as he shared the story. He spoke calmly, with the confidence of someone who knew a story by heart. He added his own little embellishments, and he stroked the back of Yu's hand the entire time he spoke.
This was nice.
He wanted to do this again.
...And he wanted to dream of fairy tales with happy endings, and wake knowing that maybe, just maybe, he was in one.

The lyrical lilt to Priam’s voice, the soft cadence of the story, a gentle brush of touch against his hand... it was such a warm and wonderful thing. What he used to dream about and had long since given up on, and here he had found it, not with one person he loved but two. He wished terribly that a fall hadn’t been what brought them to this, but at least no one had died. It meant they had this, and even with his secrets it made him feel a bit like Aladdin- he had everything he could have dreamed of and he hadn’t even needed a golden lamp.
