Aldwyn's ears flicked in the direction of another approaching buck, and he turned to shoot a wary glance out the corner of his eye to the stranger. He wasn't a particularly interactive noulicorn, himself, and it was only the potential of a threat that had lured him out here to seek information alongside the guidance of the ascended Viltalta. But for the most part, he did not prefer to socialize, and the need had been further dampened by tensions in the clearing. Still, he wasn't rude, and that wasn't the impression he wanted to give.
He turned his full attention to the other buck- Ralir, as he'd introduced himself- and tried to temper the snarky urge that had sprung up from someone who was not the one trying to be open and communicative with him now. Ralir deserved Aldwyn's best, not an attitude.
"I don't blame anyone by myself, if I've been excluded," he replied with a tilt of his head and a confused blink as to why Ralir would think that was his fault. "I wouldn't want to be the one to get in the way of progress, and there's no reason for me to seek attention if I have nothing to contribute. But I am glad to know all that has been found, and I- oh. Of course." At the mention of 'pooling clues,' Aldwyn nudged the small engraved tablet that had stuck out to him over to Ralir. It was the only thing of particular interest he'd come across, and it certainly didn't seem as helpful as anything like the bits of map some others had found.
But Ralir at least expressed some degree of confidence in knowing what was going on, which was a bit more than Aldwyn could say. He turned his head to the most recent finding, a detailed map encouraging someone to 'follow in their hoofsteps.' "Do we know if that," he gestured to the map. "is from Traveler to Wanderlust, or the other way around? If it is still here in Wanderlust's den, then it either wasn't necessary for the journey or it hasn't been found by Traveler yet, depending on who made it... Do we think that there's any chance Traveler is here in Homewood, or do we believe Wanderlust followed him to the caves?"

The last peice of the map had been found but there was still a lot of work to be done. Adahy and Furry Tail gathered around Viltalta so the planning could begin. Taking a look at the map, Furry Tail wrinkled his nose at it. "To bad there is not an X to mark the spot. You know, Adahy, like barred goodies for later." Adahy chuckled at Furry Tail's comment. Young one sure have cute ideas and hopes. "Yes that is to bad." They would for sure need to look at all the clues in order to find where the Wanderlust were at. A cave seemed the most probable place given the rock that Furry had found earlier. Looking at all the other items trying to put together a plan. Adahy really was not to sure how to plan for such a journey but he knew one thing, they would have to work together to find the missing Wanderlust. "Well we are clearly going to need some type of light source to take into the potentially dark cave. Anyone have any ideas how we can do this?" Adahy asked the group in the hopes it would brake the ices and get nouls talking. [wc:1915+203=2154]

Viltalta watched Draven leave with trepidation stirring in her gut. Hopefully the grey buck would be back, they had no telling what sort of dangers they might face, but the fellow seemed able-bodied and would be useful if a predator followed their group. She had to focus on those who remained, though. “If the Traveller is in Homewood, it would be useful to track them down, unfortunately it seems odd that they wouldn’t answer my call for help to find their friend.” She’d considered this when they found the first note. If the “traveller” was in Homewood, Viltalta might think they’d been up to foul play, sending Wanderlust off to their doom. She hoped he wasn’t here. “It might be useful to send a messenger to check Homewood regardless.” She turned her attention to Adahy and his jack hop. “We will certainly need light, or a solar noulicorn capable of producing it to guide us.” Quote:
Viltalta is open for questions. Everyone may ask her one question about a particular clue in order to gain more information from it.
Roll 2d6 when asking your question to determine how much information Viltalta knows about something. 1-6 is a failure, wherein Viltalta can’t divulge any new information, 7-9 is a partial success - Viltalta will know something about the clue, and 10-12 is a full success!

The last clue had finally been found. This one the final piece they’d need to be able to track down Wanderlust. This was good news and Krima hoped that finding the lost party would be easier than trying to find clues. She was sort of excited to be going on this adventure! Looking at the map and listening to Viltalta, it seemed like they were going to be leaving quite soon too. Krima hadn’t really decided if she was going to go or not yet, it would certainly be dangerous and there would be a lot of unknowns. Still...
Krima had braved the ruins many times now and maybe whatever Wanderlust was after could help them restore the world faster. The light doe could be on board something like this, she just hoped that they’d find them well and alive. Of course, Krima didn’t dare say anything to the others, but the thought was kept at the back of her mind. This wasn’t exactly an everyday occurrence either and none of them knew what they were getting into once they stepped out of Homewood. She’d helped here, hadn't she? She could simply not show up when the party left on their search if she really wanted to.
No, it would not be the right thing. Krima thought things over quickly and decided it was best to leave now. There were many preparations to be made before she left with the search party, if this could help them in just the smallest of ways she had to give it a try and go with them. Quietly, Krima left the other Noul’s to head to her den. No time to spare, she wanted to have as much time as she could to prepare for anything and everything while they were out there.

Tempest felt something caught on her leg and she kicked it away before looking over at a buck who asked if she was alright. But he seemed to have already moved on before she could reply to him. She shook herself and tossed her mane out of her face and proceed to join the group of noul in the tree. It seemed all the clues had been found and it was time to start figuring out what they all said and how to go about deal with the information. Tempest, having been late to the party, seemed to not know what to ask and positioned herself close to the entryway. It was better to listen to the other noul and the elder doe. Perhaps Tempest could be of some use to the group later.

Adahy knew they would need supplies for their search. Furry Tail was already busy running back to the den in the Homewood to gather a canteen for water and a saddle pack for food. Adahy didn't like the idea of sending Furry Tail so far on his own but it was not really that far and what choice did he really have. Both Adahy and Furry Tail would need things to make this trip so there was only one person to get the supplies needed. In the meantime the rest of them needed a plan and he was need in the making of said plan. Adahy looked at the clues they all had found again. Most of the items were pretty self explanatory as far as what they were in his mind. All but one item that was. Turning his attention to Viltalta he asked her about the item. "Viltalta what can you tell us about this strange stone table? It looks pretty old to me." Adahy hoped she would be able to shed some light on the markings. "It might even help use know what we could be walking into." Adahy thought as he waited eagerly for Viltalta's reply. [wc:2154+200=2354]

Viltalta examined the old stone tablet, her ears cocked back in concentration. Adahy’s question was a good one, but unfortunately it was also puzzling. “The v-shaped marking resembles the same mark Wanderlust made on their map near the caves. The other shape must be a creature. Something that existed before the others came here, I believe.” She recalled the Traveler's note, mentioning a place the others had not touched. “Perhaps it’s the danger Wanderlust was worried about. Maybe not all of these things - whatever they are - died when the others exterminated everything else.” It was a lot of guessing, but guesses based on many years of experience.

Taking his time to make it back to the grove of the Wanderlust, Draven had picked up a few more sprigs of berries that Bluebell had placed into the basket atop the covering so that the sun might dry them out a little. Ducking his head under a branch he came back to where everyone was pondering over the clues that had been found. While he hadn't heard about the tablet that one of the nouls had found. He did give a glance around to see if anyone else had left. There seemed to be at least one had left since he had taken his departure. "Does seem that the group has gotten a little smaller.." Draven commented quietly more to himself then anyone else. Bluebell sat up on Draven's back between the ropes that held the basket and lean-to bundle to his sides. She herself was ever alert as they remained at the back of the cluster. He didn't really have any questions of what the items were, but there was one thing on his mind. Besides the hunt for his other half. Were they sure that the lock of hair was even from the Traveler? Or was it just from one of the Wanderlust who wanted a haircut. Stepped ever so slightly closer he looked at the elder Doe. "We sure that the hair is even a clue to all this? Seems more likely it is just something of the Wanderlust. Like one needed a bit of a mane cut and just left it laying about." He frowned slightly as he mentioned it.

Aldwyn stepped delicately around the clues. Now that it seemed most of their searching was done, he took a minute to inspect what others had found. Ralir's assertion that Wanderlust must have headed for the caves did indeed seem true. A place untouched by Others, a journey too inhospitable for even them... Grubs and water that had been hidden away- it must have been dark: the insect glowed. And Viltalta believed that there were likely dangerous predators about, as indicated by the stone tablet. Those would've been nice to know more about.
Difficult terrain could be traversed with enough information and preparation. But unfamiliar and volatile creatures could pose a problem for them, if they didn't know how to handle it... And there didn't seem to be much mentioning of how they might handle it.
Aldwyn swallowed. He shook his mane out to clear his head, then leaned down to sniff among the gathered items.
Most of them were notes and maps, coupled with a few trinkets. He wondered how far the cave system was. It must have been farther than any noulicorn had traveled before Wanderlust's crew and the traveler. He nudged the vial of water with his hoof. This smelled clean, though. And it was odd how none of this well-prepared party returned...
He nudged the vial over to Viltalta. "If this is safe to drink, is it possible Wanderlust simply found a place that could sustain life? It must be able to, if grubs and predators are lurking out there. Perhaps the party is simply assessing it as a potential alternate home front location? A base for those doing work out in the Barrens?"

Viltalta hid a quiet smile as Draven returned to the grove, but she dipped her head to him, wings rustling, as a greeting. She was surprised when he actually approached her with a question. Viltalta lowered her nose to the tuft of hair and inhaled. The scents were a swirl of familiarity - Wanderlust’s own smell sweet and heavy across the ribbon like drops of nectar. But there was more than that, and something underneath the heavy perfume of Wanderlust that she recognized. “This came from Wanderlust’s Traveler, I believe, as a token of affection. The same scent is on the notes in his writing.” She frowned. “I know who he is, in fact. He’s an atmos adept by the name of Isra… or he was.” Her frown deepened to tectonic grooves around her mouth. “We exiled him. I had no idea he was in contact with Wanderlust.” This didn’t bode well for anyone, least of all Wanderlust. Aldwyn’s voice snapped her from her thoughts. “Ah,” she said, cocking her head at the strange vial. “That is a possibility, but it would have been better of them to send us a message.” If Wanderlust had merely started a new base camp and was perfectly fine wherever they were, Viltalta was going to snap their wings when she found them!

It was a comfort to know that Ralir's theory sounded reasonable - first Aldwyn's speculations, and then Viltalta's own sounded, and Ralir nodded. He had a lot to think about, though, and he considered the new stone tablet, map fragment, and rock in succession.
Before Ralir said anything, though, one of the other bucks who'd been accompanied here by a jackhop spoke up, asking about a light source. Ralir would've volunteered, knowing that was an ability usually associated with Solar users, but he was fairly certain he didn't know how that worked yet. "I don't know mu - " Ralir was beginning to say, but soon noticed Tsarine's find, which Viltalta had been looking over. "Excuse me," Ralir said, bashful as he headed over.
He spent a lot of time examining it as noulicorns all around them made discoveries and walked in and out of the clearing, ready to make their plans happen. Ralir listened: he was feeling pretty self-conscious, having spoken a lot earlier, and everyone else deserved a chance to voice their own concerns. After a while - that grey buck had returned with many supplies - Ralir stepped forward to ask, too. He also wanted to update Father, and then gather what supplies he could. But it might be best to do that with Viltalta's advice. He looked from the list of supplies Traveler had constructed to the concern scratched in the bark. "What sort of preparations would you suggest we make, given Wanderlust's own preparations, and whatever dangers they were worried about? I know there's not much time before our group departs, but I want to be as thorough as possible." Was there something Wanderlust just always brought along, as a seasoned traveler? Were there things Ralir could do to prepare for danger?
He kept the new information in mind constantly. An exiled atmos adept did not sound like someone who had Wanderlust's best interests in mind, no matter the affection between them.

Viltalta reined in her temper as Ralir approached her. He seemed like one of the youngest of the bunch and it wouldn’t do to frighten him, but it was important they all be prepared. “Bring food and water for a long journey,” she answered. With a glance at the scattered clues they found, she added. “And probably rope. If you have any armor or protection, it might be wise to bring it as well, but keep in mind the journey through the barrens will be hot, and the more you wear, the more difficult it will be.” With any luck, only she and perhaps Draven would have to do any real fighting. Viltalta needed to make her own preparations as well. She reared up and flapped her wings to gather everyone’s attention. “Let’s clear out of the grove and gather our things. I’ll meet with those who want to join me for the search tomorrow evening at the south-western edge of Homewood.” END.
