Aurtrox swiftly hopped right up and brushed his robes of any possible dust that may had hoped for a swift end to the meeting, but of course right after him Alfred had to bring up all sorts of worries. Some of which were totally valid, like spreading too thin. But some of which Aurtrox felt were just downright fearmongering. Specifically the idea that him or Sebastian would end up murdered next and what the protocol would be then. Aurtrox would sigh, but this meeting was not over just yet. Sebastian's response was too short to suffice if you asked Aurtrox so he would expand on it.
"We won't lose the acting heads. Knowing Sebastion and myself, I doubt either of us will be so clumsy. Technically a general election would happen in order to elect a new head of council. This temporary leadership system is only meant to last until we truly have no hopes of recovering our lost leader... " Aurtrox did feel bad for Aidou. Was he really gone gone? The man was respectable. Always fair. Sebastion and himself would make for an interesting mix. Likely they would serve for another few months until it was certain that Aidou was not coming back.
Alfred's other concerns were what he wanted to turn most of his attention to. Aurtrox would ignore the cart of food. He was a picky eater and saw nothing that tempted him after that delicious pepper he had just eaten outside.
Aurtrox agreed with Sebastian on the unfortunate fact that they needed to keep splitting, however dangerous it was. Success came with investment, and investment came with splitting up in this case. He would nod at every word. Annamoretta did voice her disapproval on students not being on patrols already, but that just showed that she did not know they already did do some patrols. Aurtrox would not shame her on her ignorance like some would though. He was one of the kinder councilmembers afterall. And she did have a good point on the public announcement part. Better to not put all one's eggs in the same basket.
"Beacon students can certainly help with patrols. We already do routinely assign a few missions for such and it is an easy task to increase. That said, students of beacon are better trained to combat grimm and thus should be first in line for missions forging out path south to new dust mines." This was an obvious choice. Though he knew it would be a mixed mission with military at some point in time. "We do have a growing movement of Vacuons who wish to retake their land. Maybe we can rely heavily on mercenaries from this subset of the population as well?" He wondered if anyone had input on that. He was not particularly close with the Vacuo community
Agatane would make an accusation of him not caring about his students. He took great offense, but showed none. He did care deeply for the students, but he also had supreme control over his affections.
"It is not that I do not care for my students, I am just pragmatic in how are human capital is utilized. Our students are the most important capital we possess when it comes to training new grimm fighters. Once I took charge our grimm takedowns pentupled before my first batch was even graduated." Though everyone knew that the death rate also increased by 55%. The problem there was there was also an increase in grimm interaction so how much of that was Aurtrox vs the grimm becoming more aggressive was impossible to sort out. Overall, Aurtrox's lead over the school had been an undeniable success. He had also output students at almost twice the speed as before with his flexible graduation system based on skill and missions. He would keep his mouth shut though. No need to brag as it would only make him look arrogant.
"Back to the dust mines... I happen to know that one of the main political factions in Phoxuria, the Oxυɾι clan, has great interest in economic development and would work with us to secure a route from Vale to Phoxuria to the southern border of Vacuo where we will find dust mines. We should send a diplomat to work things there as the criminal levels are high and without some ally on the inside we won't get anywhere. Unfortunately, the Oxυɾι clan hates the Krayeth Clouds due to a feud over a hundred years ago over a trade route in the north..."
