If he could fade away to the background he would. He would listen as Nurse Alden would say she hoped business was going well and seemed to be making observations of the patient. Or so Chase thought at the very least; himself trying to do so but also trying not to stare. He did not want to be impolite and be considered staring. 'How does-how does one look to study but not stare or come off intense?' he wondered to himself, unsure. Looking through a microscope at a cell to study it in detail was one thing; people were another. He would be broken from his thoughts as their patient would comment that he was new, which made him blush slightly in embarrassment from the comment. While it was true...he hoped it would not have been that obvious, as he felt a bit of the pressure of the position. Even if she meant no ill will by it; it was hard not to worry for him. Thankfully, he would not need to speak as Nurse Alden would speak for him by confirming it and that he was stuck with her which made the patient laugh slightly. Chase would give a silent, nervous nod of confirmation to it but chose not to speak for the moment. How he sometimes wished he were actually mute.
While Nurse Alden looked to him with...he wasn't sure, but he could tell it was meant to be soothing or something? That was how he took it at least. Nurse Alden would then ask if Chase could take the patient's blood pressure; taking him a moment to realize it truthfully as he had not been expecting it. Unfortunately, the patient accepted and hoped that he stayed? He was just as surprised from that comment. 'All I have done is accept a candle,' he thought to himself in genuine confusion. Seeing as he had little choice in the matter, he would set his notes and pen down on the counter and head over to the blood pressure machine. "Please-please lift your arm for me?" he would ask nervously of her as he tried to still his heart. Once she complied, he would gently yet firmly wrap the band around her arm before going to operate it. Pressure building on her arm as it got to work before hitting its maximum and pausing; getting a reading and subsequently deflating. He would note the number of the reading, and help take it off her gently. Blood pressure was something he knew a bit on, given his own semblance, so he would be able to tell hers seemed lower than the norm. He would look to Nurse Alden to confirm it, and allow her to take the lead again as she spoke of what it could mean and perhaps needing more tests. Him retreating slightly to his notes to write down the number and what was being said as he waited for what was to come next.
Ms. Willow Kerensa Alden Nurse of the Natural Clinic/Apothocary
Willow would smile back to the woman as she commented. Mrs. Green seeing the young man blush would smile with sympathy and kindness; she hoped to reassure the young clinical trainee that he had nothing to fear. Though he did look like someone she'd heard described, she could not remember where so she would remain quiet on that for now. Amused with Ms. Alden's intervention, she would greet him and hoped he enjoyed it here. Then they got back down to the reason of her visit.
Mrs. Green smiled softly to the tall young man after Willow explained what tests would be needed before Dr. Lenz would begin the visit. Honestly, it was routine and nothing new to her as any other beginning check-up. The patient gave Chase permission to take her blood pressure and it would result in being low; she'd been afraid of that, but she also refused to go to any other hospital. As Alden would write down Chase's readings, the nurse would kindly check her neck, take her temperature, and other tests.
Iterating results for Chase to write down as with the first patient; just this last time. Nurse Alden would turn to her assistant then and smiled kindly. "You may go ahead first," Nurse Alden told the young man kindly. "Man, I didn't mean to do that," She thought, sheepishly. Informing that Dr. Lenz would be in shortly to see to her, Willow left Ms. Green in the room with the door partially open before walking with Chase back to the desk for another folder. "Sorry about that. Old habit to just...finish," the young nurse said, her cheeks a little flushed from the embarrassment of screwing up as a mentor.
As they reached Cindy, she would keep a kind smile with her usual energy of positivity. Accepting the folder as she switched them out for the next patient that would be called to Room 6; just off to the right of the reception desk, and an immediate left. "Precious Emerald Jewels," Nurse Alden read mentally, finishing reading the symptoms and reason for the child's visit, accompanied by the mother Mrs.Jewels. Willow would then hand the file over to Chase kindly. "Next patient is a child, no more than ten-years-old. How are you feeling so far," Nurse Alden would inform him before inquiring how he felt standing before the closed door. His answer, as it seemed kind but serious in tone, would tell her what choice to make of letting him continue or take a break.

While it was more than a few notes to take down, he reiterated it in his mind while he wrote things down so he could keep it all in his head and accurately transcribe her words. As he was finishing up, he would note the Nurse turn to him and say he may go ahead first. This confused him a bit as it as he was unsure if this meant leave or take over; it was only with her further words to the patient that the doctor would be there soon did he puzzle out it meant they were to leave. Nodding quickly, he would exit via the door first as instructed; superiority superseding his training on ladies first. He would pause outside the door, waiting for the nurse, and then walking a few steps behind and to her left as they were headed off. Not entirely sure where they were off to next, he was content to give her the slight lead to guide him to their next destination. 'Hopefully I got everything,' he worried to himself. As they walked, Nurse Alden would apologize that it was an old habit of hers to just finish. Chase would give her a confused look at that. "N-no n-need to apologize. You clar-rified quickly en-nough ," Chase would stammer out sincerely. As they reached the reception desk, Nurse Alden seemed to return to her usual energy and would switch out files. It seemed they were going to see yet another patient; Chase was not surprised by it given what he knew of the doctors office but it did not make the butterflies in his stomach any more sedentary. 'The first of many it seems,' he thought to himself as he followed after the Nurse. He saw her reading over the file and blinked a few times in surprise as she handed it to him before hesitantly accepting the file. Before his eyes could pour over it, she would inform him the next patient was a child and ask how he was feeling. He...did not know how to feel in regards to dealing with a child patient, nor how to fully describe how he felt. He would take a moment to ponder what to say before finally speaking. "I'm f-feeling alright. Just trying to g-get used to this is all. But I can c-continue, I just need a moment to go over the f-file" he would respond to her with some effort. If she seemed content to continue, he would go over the file for details on the patient and nod to her once finished that they could proceed. But if she were to speak or engage in conversation his gaze would remain on her, not wanting to be impolite or mix up information by reading the file and listening to her at the same time.
x x The day would continue on with a few more patients throughout assisting Chase near the end. Willow would take time with Chase to take him to Lunch with her and Cindy. While Dr. Lenz would come by from time to time to check-in and see how their volunteer had been doing, she felt something she had not expected; pride in his eagerness to learn more. As it went, by the end of the day, he was fully initiated into their staff. Taking care of all the legalities herself, Dracaena kept the young man on permanently as one of her own, and like many that come to the Natural Clinic their family grew one more.
