Alexandre Evans - Stage combat

Kept in a large trunk, and well taken care of, were the various weapons which the ashen blond used in his act. He wasn't sure why he'd taken to weapons but soon after arriving at the carnival he'd done just that. Maybe it was the metallic flash of of blades moving under the lights of the big top. Maybe it was the sound they made when two blades connected. Or maybe it was the thrill and how the audience seemed to think the blades where real and sharp, that they could cut people. He couldn't be sure, not that it mattered much, but he'd approached the performers he'd seen that night and started training under them.

Now, years later and he had his own trunk filled with weapons, each with dulled blades and tips, for him to perform with for the people in the audience. He could stage a fight and make it look real, and deadly. In a second trunk he had, right next to the first, were costumes. They weren't things he normally liked to wear, they were a bit too over the top and fancy, but it was for work so he'd wear the fancy clothing that made him look like some rich snob and do his job.

The clothing was done in bright colors with gold accents so it stood out more, as if the clothing didn't stand out all on it's own, but the bright colors were a thing. Looking like some rich snob while moving about with various bladed weapons like some fencer was apparently a thing, and he was good at it.

Pulling out the blades he'd need for the night he closed, and locked, his trunk before moving onto the clothing filled one and digging about till he pulled out a pile of clothing in red, gold and black with some white here and there. Time to get dressed...joy. He also sorta needed to find someone who could pull his hair back, it was getting a bit annoying and he never could get his hair to lay flat when he put it up, parts always bumping out at the back around the hair holder or at the sides of his head.

Liam Blackwood - Mime

While some peoples outfits were elaborate, and flashy, his own was simple. Black and white - very simple. He didn't have to worry about layers of clothing or how to get his outfit on or off, as some outfits looked rather difficult to figure out, he was a mime and he figured he was lucky in terms of costumes. The only part he did dislike was the makeup, powdering his face white and coloring his lips black. Decorating around his eyes he always left to others, letting them decide on what he should do there. It took it's toll on his skin though, causing breakouts, that was why he had a fair amount of skin care products. That was the one area where things got insane for him. All sorts of bottles of products, things he had to order and have fast shipped to wherever he could for pick up. He didn't buy just anything, the last time he'd tried a random product his face had felt like he'd let someone put a fire to his skin. The burning and redness had been bad.

Having found the products which worked he stood in front of a mirror carefully applying the white powder over the various skin products, all of which had absorbed into his skin by now, in gentle motions. It wasn't good to tug and drag at the skin when applying anything.

His clothing was already on, fitting snug to his body, as he worked to make sure none of his natural sun kissed skin tone showed. He was aiming to be as white as casper the ghost, as he liked to put it.

Ciel Karpusi -- Twirler

Ciel blinked for a moment she felt confused but then she remembered where she was, the circus she had lived in all of her life. The young orphan had lived in and worked for the circus for as long as she could remember. She knew she had to practice her twirling. She spun the baton nimbly between her fingers and she moved in a decently impressive gymnastics routine. Her body was well toned and flexible from years of exercise which allowed her to twist and turn her body in time with twirling, moving the baton across her arms and shoulders and tossing it up in the air.

Alexandra Agread -- Lion Tamer

Alex gently grabbed Hania. "Come on Hain we gotta practice." She said with a smile. She loved practicing her act with the talking kitty. She had never known a life outside of the circus but she wasn't really interested in experiencing the outside world. She looked at her big sister practicing her Aerial Loop, she always loved watching her sister soar through the air. But now was the time for her to practice her own routine. "Ready Hani?" She asked as she picked up the little stool and toy whip, not that she ever had to use either the benefits of working with a talking cat rather than a normal lion.

Orah found Lilith making her way towards the big top and sighed softly in relief. No hunting all over for her, though its not like the young woman made a habit of hiding away or anything. Nerves, that's all it was. She was grateful for anything that went the way it was supposed to.

"Ah, hey! Glad you're up." She said as she fell in step beside her. "Yeah, I was thinking maybe we could go over everything again, you know... just to make sure we've got it all down. Not you, of course, mostly me... I can't help worrying I'm going to drop the scarves at the wrong time."

Orah shrugged, but it was mostly for her own gratification than because Lilith would notice. As much as she loved performing for the crowds, it all put such butterflies in her stomach.

"I saw Melody practicing back by the tent." She offered as they walked. "She's getting really good at that new trick she learned. I envy how flexible she is... acrobatics was never really my strong suit."

But then, most physically demanding acts weren't her strong suit. Her balance was good enough for walking and dancing, and her flexibility was only so-so... She had terrible aim and just like everything else, if she wanted to put on any feats of strength, it would take a lot of conditioning to get there... but that's why she was an assistant, and not a tumbler.

"Um... have you decided what you want to wear for the next show? We can use the ones from last, but I need to fix the strap on one of my shoes, it keeps digging in and giving me a blister." Orah sighed, wiggling her toes in the comfortable flats she got to use outside of performances.

Mary Tunith - Aerial Rope

They said Mary had been born crying silent tears. Always a sad child, she'd been plucked for the circus early on from her family due to her acrobatic talent. Her expressively sad routine was a fan favorite, and as she'd grown up she'd become a must have act.

She blinked her eyes open, frowning slightly as she hung by the cloth ropes on the tent ceiling. Mary had missed a move somewhere, or so she thought. She glanced over at Kailey, another of the aerial performers and watched for a moment before slipping herself down the cloth enough to kick her feet against the dirt.

She wore a high necked bralette and shorts, hiding the horrific scar across her sternum. A routine gone wrong, Mary was lucky to be alive after that fall. It still itched occasionally, as if she could feel the spike still in her chest.

Maybe today she'd stop being so reclusive and actually... talk to the rest of the group. Maybe.

---

'Wolf' - Beast Tamer

"Oi, Del leave yer sister alone, ya silly mutt," called the tall muddled brown-haired woman to two wolf-dogs wrestling with each other. She ran a hand through her short hair, dislodging a few clumps of gel as she did so. Wolf, as the circus knew her by, was a relatively new addition to the group. She was a built woman, having run away from her home at a young age and lived on the street since then. Wolf joined the fold after someone spotted her doing elaborate routines on the sidewalk with her two wolf dogs, Dellingr and Alyla, for money.

Her real name, her true name had been uttered exactly once, to the ringmaster, and then never again. It made her heart ache for something, someone and it was easier to ignore it.

Wolf rolled her eyes at the two, still wrestling wolves, and pushed up the sleeves of her jacket. She grabbed one by the scruff of the neck and bodily shoved the other out of the way. "Oi, knock it off,' she growled, lightly smacking both wolf-dogs on the nose with her hands. They snorted at her and settled down.

She stretched and glanced around. Busy day today.

Joseph Ross - human cannonball

There's something to be said, Joseph thought, checking over his equipment idly for lack of much better to do (and because you could never be too careful with cannons, especially when you were the projectile), for having a job where your main responsibility is an adrenaline rush. Sure, maybe it would get old eventually - he'd only been doing this for a few months now, having had to work his way up the chain a bit and prove he could handle something like being blown out of a massive cannon without freaking out or getting himself hurt - but for now every time was an adrenaline rush. Every time might be his last, though the odds weren't as skewed in favor of that as some people liked to think, and it.

Well, maybe it didn't pay as well as he'd like, and maybe there were other ways, theoretically, to get an adrenaline rush, but why mess with what worked? At least you didn't have to work somewhere boring. (Not that he could imagine what a boring career was like, since he'd never had anything but the chain of circus jobs he'd worked his way up since he was old enough to hold a broom and sweep up after the audience.)

Eh, it didn't really matter anyway - he lived for the moments in the air; that was the only time he was really. truly alive.

Jeanette Génoise - clown

Some days Jeanette was overwhelmed by the amount of costuming she had to don for her role. She wasn't particularly amazing at her job, but she did have fun making people smile, and she was clumsy enough anyway that it really only helped her play her role. But still - there was so much makeup, and shoving all of her natural curls under a sweaty cap so she could don a wig (that... didn't really look that much different from her real hair, save more neon and on a particularly bad hairday... well.

Sometimes she just wanted to be normal. But she had been born into this life, this role - she still heard stories about her Mama carting her around as an infant, both of them in costume, and 'oh how cute' it was to see, and... well. Her parents were gone, now, but the circus took care of its own, and the outside world would never be kind to a silly little girl raised to be a clown.

And again, she was making people smile, which really was all that mattered. Even if she was fighting fiercely with bobby pins so she could tame her hair enough to shove it under the cap, the wild orange girls resisting every attempt to tame them.

"Ugh, come on, you, I do not have time for this!"

Tiberius

Tiberius shot Toby a completely offended look, then started laughing. "Kid-- yer killin' me." Granted, it was kind of 'racist' to assume that as a cat he couldn't hold love in the same quality as a human - he was just as intelligent (if not more so) than any human - and to treat him as any regular tom or queen was just silly. Toby ought to have known better, working in the circus, but Tibs wasn't actually offended.

Plus, it was a rule - if someone picked up or petted one of the circus cats without permission? It was like putting hands on one of the humans without permission - punishable as an offense. Even the youngest kid knew that, or learnt it quick enough. "Can't be racist against a gender kid, that's called sexist. An' I am. Most definitely. I don't flirt with fellas." Tiberius winked at Toby.

"You're both awright, y'know that?" He flashed his canines in a friendly manner, then glanced back off after Her, "Not as awright as Doll, but...she's perfection. Utter perfection, ain't she? Just a class act, that one."

Alexa: Trapeze

Completely oblivious to any primping Tiberius might have been doing, Alexa took the opportunity of him rubbing against her to reach down and ruffle his fur. She cocked an eyebrow at him. "So what you're saying is you're anything but her-ist?" She frowned. "Ehh, that's a mouthful. I think straight's the word you're looking for, but that's boring." She sucked in her cheeks for a moment, considering. "Monogamous?"

She looked up to Toby with a smirk. "But it basically means the two of us are totally chopped liver, huh?" Her voice was lighthearted and teasing, and she couldn't help a giggle.

"But yeah, you always look really great on those trampolines. If you wanna fly really high, you could always you could always try out trapeze with me sometime! It's more upper body, but you'd already be super good at the flips and things! Plus you really get to fly." She gave a proper smile, and her eyes shone, all pretty please.

"Spoiler alert: this is a ploy for a trade so I can get on those trampolines."

Fleur smiled at the baton twirler. Offering to watch and help her out with her routine was so sweet. Nadia was already doing great and it was always nice to see someone on the verge of stepping up their act, but helping out others on top of that? Well, that was why the circus was called a family, she supposed.

She finished off her water bottle, put it down, and brushed off her fluffy skirts. "Well, are you ready to break out the fire, and to try not to burn off my very expensive hat?" She smiled, all lighthearted, then went serious. "Or yourself. That's more important, really."

"No pressure, of course. We could try to get some food instead if you'd rather? Make sure we've got our energy up for tonight."

Lulu Flowers - Magician

Lulu wasn't born into the Circus, but it had been all she's known since she was a small child. A kid picked up off the streets, with no where to go or any known family. It was unclear how she had ended up on the streets, but she was quick to adjust to her new Circus family. She was taken in as a magician's assistant and quickly learned the ropes of illusion and essentially deceit. Tricking your audience into the belief that what happened was something completely impossible. Ticking your volunteers into picking the cards you want them to, making them believe an object is levitating.

Eventually her mentor retired and she graduated to a solo act. She always got a kick out of seeing their excited faces, the amazement of what she had just pulled off. She was constantly working on new tricks, night and day. The time before her performances she spent calming her nerves and watching the other Circus members practice their own acts. She'd offer to help where she could, checking in on others.

Soon enough she made her way over to Kailey who was practicing her aerial hoops. There was a small group of people here she really cared about and the majority of them were already gathered.

"I'll agree, that does seem extra risky Kailey." She had come just in time to hear Eva protest about a joint act for the two. All it would take is one little slip up on either of their parts for someone to be seriously hurt. It was a risk many already took in their acts, but there should be a limit to just how deadly they can be.

"I bet we could do something cool together though. A cool disappearing act with some areas. Maybe a version of the sword though the box trick, just with arrows instead? We could work something out before the next show." It was always fun to come up with new ways to combine different acts. It would be a boring Circus if they did the same shows over and over again.

"We could all work together for something fun, really." Lulu smiled and settled in to finish watched them all warm up.

Glen Michaels - Aerial Silk

Glen paused eating, feeling a brief wave of nausea that was over as soon as it began. He looked at the light lunch he had in concern before going to throw it away, worried it was the food that caused that moment. He quickly threw his food away, then went to grab his ribbons and adjusting the shorts of the left leg of his asymmetrical leotard. He had practicing to do, and he knew he was behind, he also had a feelings most of the girls were already practicing and knew he needed to hurry up.

He was still, annoyingly, late to most practices, as he wasn't really used to the schedule of full time performer, and had only joined after doing the stupid "run away and join the circus" threat at fifteen. A bit too late for that he knew but now he could say he didn't exactly lie to get his way. He did odd jobs while studying and practicing the aerial acts, until he was caught and properly mentored, and now was a full time act. But again, that didn't mean he was good at keeping up with when and where he was supposed to be. He briskly went to the area he knew the other aerial silk performers would be, resisting the normal temptation to just pet and talk to every cat he passed.

When it came down to it, the only thing Toby had been objecting to was the idea of a romantic relationship between a lady and a cat...but left it alone, and simply gave the cat a smirk and a stuck out tongue. "If you say so, Mr. Tibblets."

That out of the way, he turned his attention to Alexa. "Well, I mean," he started, scratching at his ear lightly, "You could just come on over and bounce around with me. You know...as long as it's not organized practice time!" He grinned and nodded, thinking it was a perfect suggestion.

Ollivander nodded in greeting and watched the others silently, his mind lost in random thoughts as everyone conversed, though he found himself scanning all the activity in the tend searching for a VERY particular beast tamer.

Nick was as handsome as men came, and while Ollie didn't have much of a preference and most people thought he actually kept to himself, he and Nick had a bit of a.....clandestine relationship. Especially considering it rankled Ollie that he was 'the other woman' considering Nick was married. His husband actually wasn't a bad person, he was rather nice in fact. But Ollivander couldn't help but be jealous, especially watching all the kids flirt with one another in the tent life, and seeing everyone so content with their acts and animals. He wanted to be openly content too.

"Hm? Oh yes," he answered absentmindedly, not even sure whom in his group he was answering, still scanning the room for Nick. The last time they'd seen one another they'd been doing some rather....creative things....with leftover cotton candy, and he desperately wanted to steal a kiss before the show started. Out of all the tamers, Nicks well being was the one he feared most for as skilled as he was.

Lori and Landry had been a part of the Circus life for a little over five years at this point. They had both run away from 'home' as teenagers, looking to escape a not-so-great guardian after the death of their parents. The Circus just so happened to be in town and they weren't about to turn away two kids in desperate need of a new life. In a way it was hard to leave home, where they had grown up.

They had adjusted well to the Circus life though, even if the food didn't always agree with them. Lori was still scowling at her twin for the comment he had said earlier. She was even working on her stretches alone, making sure she wouldn't get any cramps during their performance was still important at least. Even if they were in the middle of a little fight, they'd still go out there and perform their butts off.
