Adenah l 3
Adenah toyed with the edges of her braid, and flippantly gave him a better once over now that he'd given her his attention. He was a little...weirder than most boys, but at least he was cute. And if there was a fight about to break out, it'd be safer to be by him than on her own if he didn't ditch her completely.
"So I guess you'll be coming to Jauhar, then? Since that's where all the Dretch seem to be." A battle nut, huh? At least he would be putting all that energy into keeping them safe, unlike a lot of those around here. She wasn't hearing too many earthlings pumped about helping, which was concerning. If the Alkidike fell then so would the shifters, and that didn't spell good things for Adenah.
"How good are you at fighting magic users with that spear of yours?"

Prala || Post 3
Prala blushed, but took the ribbon doubtfully. She hadn't workher hair up in oh.... Ever? She wound her mass of hair into a loop and tied it with shaking fingers. Her face lost some of its ruddy sheen almost immediately as the breeze carried away some excess hear. "Aaah, thank you, that is heaven."
Her solemn eyes flicked to the speaker before them. Her face grew even more stern at the consternation and rage in the crowd. She had grown up near the Alikidike, they weren't particularly friendly neighbors, but they had never invaded her homeland and killed her people. To her, that was more than could be said to the crowd surrounding her. Her face darkened. "I think that the Obans have also done many things that might make some deign them unworthy of assistance. Would they want to be left to the mercy of these bug mages based on the wars other people decided to wage?" Her voice was quiet, for Shierra's ears alone, still, she could hardly believe she'd dared to say such a thing in the middle of this crowd. She half expected to be torn from limb to limb. She had overcome much when it came to the Obans and their war, but some scars ran deep. "I don't know much about the Yaeli or their history, so I can't speak for them."

Rainier || 4
Father Zekiel's words washed over him, Rain's back straightened, and he took a few deep breaths to calm himself, muttering a prayer under his breath again, his emotions weren't as stable as they had grown these past few weeks. He was a healer, he was following his calling, this entire Dretch situation justate at his self control, changing him.
His eyes were hungry as he spun to face the speaker, a woman of strange features, but with great authority. He clenched his fists as she unveiled the news, jaw working as he struggled to comprehend her words. The age old proverb "The enemy of my enemy is my friend," took on a while new meaning. It should be so easy, these creatures had made his life a living hell. Yet, to succeed on his mission, he must aid those who had invaded his homeland, abandoned his countryman to murderers, wreaked havoc on their peaceful existence. It was a cruel joke.
Rainier's gaze was stormy as he glared at the speaker, Antiope, not beingable to help but blame her for the near blasphemy that spilled from her lips. He heard an outraged voice ring out over the crowd THERE IS NO WAY IN H--- WE SHOULD HELP THEM! Part of him agreed, part of him wilted, should his quest end here, before it had even had a chance to really begin?
His stomach twisted in guilt at the thought. Of course not, he couldn't let the Dretch win, it didn't matter what he had to do. They would pay. No one said he had do this for the Alkidike. If his desires lines up with theirs, so be it.
"I'm going." Rain said firmly, no trace of his internal struggle carrying to his voice. "This isn't about helping the Alkidike, this is about.... Justice. Vengeance. I won't go to help the Alkidike, but I will go nonetheless. They took our people, if that is where we must go to stomp out these vermin. So be it."

Shierra post 4 For being so jumpy, Prala seemed quite certain in her conviction. If the shoe was on the other foot... Oba had hurt both of Shierra's parents before she was born. Even before her older siblings had been born! Yet she spend part of her life in Oba. It was her home as much as Matori was. Mention of the Yaelians made her look around at those with the purple hair. Most seemed... well, quite uncomfortable with the idea of assisting the Alks, to say the least. "Oba wasn't the only place usin' Matori slaves, and Alks ain't the only ones killin' people," she said slowly in agreement, being rather serious for the moment.

Driidipost threeDrii's immediate mental reaction to Antiope's declaration was 'better them than me', a sentiment it seemed at least one other shared rather vocally. It was the second backslide to his earlier life that he'd made today. A small wave of shame washed over the prentice, and for a moment he wondered when his cynicism had returned with such force. Probably right around the time people had started disappearing in the first place.
He stuck close to Iroia and Kiyelt but stayed quiet, documenting the earthings' reactions in his head.

Shavas || Post 4
She spun away for a moment, facing Kedean, radiating barely contained fury that began to fade almost as quickly as it had built. The crowd around her was worked up, she realized, the outrage was almost palpable and Finn was enraged. It was because of the Alkidike, the woman, Antiope had said something about helping them. Shavas could only faintly remember news reaching her family about trouble stirring in Juahar years back, she remembered that it had eventually culminated with some people being exiled. She had been young, but she could recall her parents and elder siblings talking about it in solemn voices, she couldn't quite remember the details. Not that she wanted to admit that to Finn. Who would doubtlessly use it as an excuse to mock her. She leaned towards her larger companion, beckoning him towards her, her voice was low as she murmured, "I think I'm missing something." She admitted, blushing, realizing her question served to reveal the truth about his 'youthful' remark, but curiosity overrode pride. Her eyes dared the man to poke fun at her ignorance, but for the moment, she trusted Kedean with this admission. "What's Finn's history with the Alkidike?"

Zekiel | 4I’m going.Zekiel’s gaze darted to Rainer, openly surprised in spite of himself for an instant. As the young man went on, however, he felt something soften anew in his posture and expression, a feeling almost akin to guilt weaving its way in with his other emotions. Of course there were many of his people who already had suffered direct personal loss at the hands of the Dretch, too, and it stood to reason that there might be many willing to fight just for that. Whatever horrors the alkidike had brought on their lands, the fact that they now faced a matching danger ought not dissuade doing what needed to be done, and Rainer’s courage and conviction was inspiring. Privately, he chastised himself for even beginning by thinking of it in terms of enemies and friends sewn by history. Allowing past pain to influence future decisions was the root of much evil. Still, even with Rainer’s conviction, Zekiel couldn’t help but wonder how the gods’ plan for their people wove into the connecting fates written by other deities on this foreign soil—and how they would be affected, if they mingled too intimately in the affairs of alien gods. If this was the path Rain felt was true, however, Zekiel imagined he couldn’t be the only one, and he was not about to attempt to dissuade him from his instinct. “The gods gave you great courage,” he murmured with a bit of a smile. “I pray that their watch may extend as far as you and any others of our people might walk to face this evil…”

Prala || Post 4
Prala's eyes flicked to Shierra's bright hair and back to her dark complexion and understanding bloomed. She was a mixed race, like Prala herself, but mixed of both the once slave race and the slavers. She wondered what the girl's upbringing had been like? Did she have two loving parents, or was her past sinister? She didn't know Shierra well enough to ask, nor was a crowd the best place for such a conversation, so she let her curiosity go, for the moment.
"I don't have much experience with the Matori," she admitted, "I grew up in Tale, and have spent mot of my adult life in Juahar. I was caught in the Oban war, and not as a fighter. Because of the war, I lost my mother, and part of me can never forgive the Obans the fighting that resulted in her death..." She stared at Shierra steadily for a moment, "But I'll admit, I hadn't thought about the Matori families who benefitted from being freed. Perhaps the fighting brought some good, after all."
"The Alkidike are... Not friendly neighbors, they don't like outsiders, but If they truly need help, It seems it might be time to return home... Do you know anyone taken by the Dretch, Shierra?"

Kieran - 2
"Because the Dretch are worse than their worst." Replied Kieran quietly as he tightened an arm around his wife, "Admittedly I doubt that they knew the Yaeli lived where we lived when they sent their kin to us, but it does seem rather unfair to ask our people to fight for those who allowed us to suffer." His jaw clenched thoughtfully as he stood there. It truly was something to contemplate. Did they simply go back to Yael and hope that these Alks and Mainlanders could handle things on their own?
Yet he had spent quite some time on the mainland and Kieran found himself rather soft when it came to thinking of their fates. Could he simply sit back when there were battles to be fought? His glance slipped towards his daughters and he felt his heart twist, "I wouldn't want to risk them winning and getting to us next..." He admitted ever so quietly, his words hidden in the uprising of protests from the crowd.

Kitya - 1
As the crowd surged around them Kitya found herself reaching out a hand so that she could hold her little sister's arm, "Yeah." She replied quietly, "Papa said there's lots more here but it's complicated. They're both good and bad, I 'spose." She shook her head, some stray hair free from its bun with the movement, "But I'm sure we'll be okay!" She pursed her lips stubbornly before reaching into her pack to reveal the face of her keldari plushie, "Papa can fight and so can mama and we always have others to help!" Mr.Wiggles included!
Even though she was slightly older than her Sister there was a lot that was confusing her. All she knew that there were some serious baddies and that people needed to come together and fight them! Why even think about it? All heroes fought and they always saved the day!

Tytus Post 2 Tytus nodded, "I'm pretty familiar with them myself..." At the words he glanced down to his hybrid son with a soft smile. He just hoped none of the Yaeli mistook Valek for one of their own at first glance! Would be slightly awkward to be accused of kidnapping my own child. At the question from the other soldier Tytus nodded, " It always helps to have some weapons in the crowd just in case." He shifted, his lance laying comfortably against his upper arm, " Though with that news I doubt we can get much control."While he wasn't from Yael he could only imagine what it was like to be asked to help those that had harmed them. His own jaw clenched at the thought as he too was not fond of the Alkidikes, especially considering that their war was what had taken his father's life in the first place. Did they truly have to assist them like this?

Valek - 2
Since he was so young so much was going over his head but Valek knew that something was wrong. A lot of people were shouting now and even his Papa seemed tense. His gaze softened fearfully as he reached back to grab at his father's pants. His papa could keep him safe and he hoped his mama and sister were safe back at home.
While he would have been more at ease for his whole family to be together in the moment he knew that they would be waiting at home and then he could ask his mama for snacks while telling his sister about all the other purple haired people he had seen today! That at least was enough to perk him up just a bit as he clung to his father.

Saraf Post 3 Had that child always been there? He supposed that he'd been too caught up in looking around for potential threats to notice. He looked as though he was one of the Yaeli, but with a few things here and there that spoke of Oban blood. So a child of mixed heritage, somewhat like his own sons but with a mother from a more distant land. He gave the child a glance, then a nod, "So I see." He wasn't judging, given how own wife there was no way he could without appearing like a real jerk. Looking around for a moment he said, "It would see as though we needn't worry as much about the Dretch here. Though we now have to consider what we want to do going forward, as individuals and as soldiers." He had no drive to go to war for someone else. He had a family here to protect, his people, his king and his country, those were the sorts of things that he'd draw his sword for. Leaving Oba to go help the Alkidike though, did he have that in him? It was something he'd need to talk with Arima about, to see what she thought about that. Anything he did would also involve her and their sons after all.

Tytus - 3 "Yeah." Tytus frowned thoughtfully, "If our leaders are intent upon helping then do we have much of a say?" He shrugged his shoulders, "I still would prefer to have good solid reasons for it since I'm not too particularly fond of going to war for a race who has done us little to no good." And he had his family...the thought of leaving Seziah and his children alone made his stomach churn. It was not something he would enjoy at all. In fact, if he even thought of his family being in danger nothing in the world would stop him from marching back to them. The thought made his fingers clench around his lance.
