"You keep saying I expected this that or the other thing from you. But all I really expected out of you was to at least vaguely act like a human being. Instead, you act like you have nothing inside you. You're an empty husk pretending you're human and know what humans are like. You talk to me like I'm worthless. Maybe I'm not important to you, I get that now, but I thought we were friends once and to just be brushed off like crumbs is just... I apparently don't mean anything to anyone and I just." She shrugged at him animatedly before also pointing at the door. "So I'm not mermaids or robot things or made of magic. I can't help that Melvin. All I can be is a human with human feelings that were hurt. But you wouldn't know anything about that, would you?"
She took a sharp shaky breath before continuing. Her head was pounding. "It had nothing to do with age either, you just pulled that out of your butt - actually, you know what? You pulled that out of your a**. It was always because you were with his dad. Possibly even the day before. I don't know. But I do know it bothers me on an incest-y level of bothers me. I just wanted to let it go though, because it didn't matter. You could have died coming here and - whatever. It clearly doesn't ******** matter to you. Nothing ******** matters to you anymore."

"Oh come off it, Melody. I'm not human? Is that your excuse for me just being an a*****e. Being a a*****e is the most human thing out there. Just because we're not besties doesn't mean I suddenly lost my humanity. As for this..." He gestured to the gate.
"My focus is on bigger issues down here so having some teenager who gets angry at me every time we talk isn't really things I care to put my energy into listening. If I acted like there was nothing inside me. I ******** got LOADS of emotions in me, just because I don't give you the ones you like doesn't mean I don't got any left. Anger. Insult. Frustration. I think you're kinda just glossing over all those very human emotions."
He crossed his arms. "I'm not talking to you like you are worthless. I talk to you like I don't give a ********. If you need me to validate your worth then you need to check the worth in yourself first or you aren't going to hold up much. I'm not brushing you off like crumbs because I never ate from you. I never devoured from you."
He watched her. "And pull your head out of your a** and maybe open your eyes a little. Me being here is proof that things matter to me. The whole ******** island mattered to me which is why I risked it all to get down here to fix things. I fought to get down here. I gave myself to Atlantis to be here. What inhuman robot does that?"

"I came here fully ready to just let the negative junk go because I thought it was more important to cherish life than to condemn it. Your life. But instead, you brought it up again and made it out like all humans are predatory of each other. Which, I have to ask, if you really think that of people as a whole then -" She gestured all around them. "- then why? Doesn't that contradict what you just said made a human? What is your ulterior motive of being here then?"
But she also couldn't let his other notation go, "and does that mean you only care about people you can 'eat' from?" And she was pretty sure that was some sort of sexual euphemism, not a loving one at that.
She took a deep, exhausted breath. "And stop obsessing about my age as if it somehow diminishes who I am. I never used yours against you, I thought you weren't even that old? Like what, one, two years older than me? If anything, I thought of you as a big brother, just more knowledgeable than me about this place. That's why I ever asked. I just looked up to you as a more experienced hunter."
And she cringed, "Definitely never my father. He was an even bigger a*****e than I doubt you could ever amount to be."

Melvin checked his watch before looking back at her. "Wow. Another hunter with daddy issues." He felt his patience and interest draining.
"I don't have to explain myself and my motivations to you. If you think my actions are based on something shitty, if you are concerned and worried, then don't cherish my life anymore and focus on your own. Go find another house. Get a roommate. Get a boyfriend. Get a specialization."
"I'm alive and working. Outside of that, I doubt you'll find anything else here than disappointment and anger."

“So you're just going to be mad at me forever then because I didn't like what you did?” She shook her head at him. “And for the record, I don't have daddy issues, my dad had issues with me.” To that she shrugged at him again. At this point the anger and erupting emotions from moments ago had drained from her features. She just looked tired, tired and sad. She didn't even pick up on the watch check. Just stared at him. “Is that it then, bridges just burned forever?”

He turned his head to focus in her
"Do you like being friends with an a*****e who'd hit on Mik again if given a chance? Who'd hit on whoever he wanted?"

"I'm not asking you to? I don't agree with what you did. But you're more than just that one thing. I like the rest of you just fine. Well, when you're not turning your a*****e on me, anyway."
She peered back at him thoughtfully and seemed to be contemplating things. What he was asking. How she felt about it. It had hurt when she first found out, but She knew now Mik wasn't interested and it wouldn't have worked out even if he had been. "It wasn't that you hit on people Melvin. It was that it had to be him. Of all people. I don't really care anymore though. It doesn't really matter."
She tried to inject a bit of wry humor into her tone as she added, "Why, are you planning to hit on someone else I know?"

“Why do you have to ask something like that?” She got up, brushed herself off. Walked over to him and sat back down again next to him. She wasn't looking at him, just over at a far wall of the cavern. “That question forces unfair assumptions about me and I'm sure you know it.”
Her gaze turned up and then back on him. “I'm not saying I'm going to be your accomplice or suddenly think you're perfect. I'm saying it bothers me but out of all the moments and talks and interactions for the - well it's been over a year, Melvin. Out of all of them, I think this one thing is insignificant by comparison. But then you like to diminish all of it. I guess because we weren't lovers or anything like that. I was eighteen when we met. I'm twenty now. We spent a majority of that in the same house.”

Ain't no sunshine Zeke stared at the thing Melvin had handed him, long and hard, before flicking pale eyes back up to the other man, brows drawn in. "And what the ******** is this thing?" He was holding it under it's fun...pits, little legs dangling, and nothing about it was as strange as the little, frilly maid uniform it was wearing. How even? "And you didn't answer my question." Quite possibly he'd just gotten distracted, but Zeke was still curious.

Melody's head slowly tilted back more and more as she stared at Melvin. Slowly yet certainly, dawning realization sparked in her eyes. This was about Lawr. This was always about Lawr.
“I'm sorry if what I said hurt you. I was honestly shocked more than anything else. I don't even really remember the exact details of what I said.” She reached a hand up to gently pat the side of his leg in a gesture she hoped was comforting.
“Melvin, I'm sorry about what he did to you. You didn't deserve that. But, I don't know. Have you given up on people?” She removed her hand and placed it in her lap.
“That Description sounds like you can't ever know anyone and. I guess sometimes that's true. Not always? I mean. It's a process and it takes time? It's all about what people are willing to share sometimes and feeling safe enough to share.”

Forcing it into Zeke's hands, he stepped back. "I get visits. That's about it for company. That and Sophie. Orders for work." He wasn't sure if Soarca wanted her name given out yet.

Ain't no sunshine Lips pressing into a thin line, he adjusted his grip on the thing so he was holding it by the back of it's frilly cillar, like a cat by it's scruff. "Thanks" ridiculous as it looked, it was still a sample, and that counted. "Sounds boring as ********. Anything interesting happen?" How was Melvin not going absolutely crazy?
