Username: cursedandwandering Word Count: 64 The Offering: The word time echoing in her ears, she rushed home. A shrine, huh? What did one usually leave at a shrine... Closing her eyes she thought of all the graveyards she had visited over the years. Incense and flowers. The floral beauty representing one's hopes for the world and the fragrance for a true and honest virtue. She could only hope it was enough.

Username: Uta Word Count: 80 The Offering: It took some time to dig up, given the late hour, and a lack of proper light; but in the end, a proper offering was fine. With a spot of color to brighten up the shrine, and a sweet scent, the offering was a small basket of berries. "May the color bring you joy and the aroma fondness of days past." The berries might also lure others to shrine, so perhaps the spirits might not have to be so alone.

Simplicity seemed key at that moment. It seemed dark here as she stared at the shrine, and all that the visitor could think of was how nice it would be to have a light shimmer among the gifts others before her had left. Reaching into her satchel of items, she dug until she found what she was looking for. Her hands lightly set the oil dish upon the altar and filled it slowly full of liquid. After place the rope wick in the oil, she smack to flint stones together - once, twice, thrice - until an ember caught upon the wick. When the fire took hold, a merry warm light filled the small area. Perhaps others would be drawn to it's comforting presence.

No, he thought, it was best to leave it here and bring waves of pleasant nostalgia to those who surely must have seen it before.
He set the Old Gateau on a small plate and left it on the ground. Glancing around him, he smiled a little. "To remind you of good times and to compel you to know that not all good times are in the past. Some, come with the future."

Username: Lady Argentum Draconis Word Count: 124 The Offering: Despite time apparently being of the essence, there are some things one should not rush. Honoring the dead is certainly one of them. Having rushed to the nearest town the visitor bought what items they could get on short notice and rushed back to the shrine.
Once there they reached into their backpack the visitor pulled out soap and their own toothbrush. The shrine certainly could use a little cleaning and they set to work scrubbing the stone until it shone in the pale moonlight. Next came candles and an offering of food and some incense. They clasped their hands before them and offered up a prayer. Be at peace, they silently beseeched the ghost of the shrine, there is someone who remembers you.

There was no time to put anything magnificent together. The summoned spirit seemed weak and wavering, a reflection of the neglect the shrine experienced. The visitor rummaged through the knapsack, looking for anything that could be put together as an offering.
Soon, a tea light flickered on the shrine, on top of a crumbled energy bar offered as sustenance. The visitor didn't have incense, but did have body spray, and sprayed it around the shrine to give it a pleasing scent.

elfstar paused thoughtfully for a moment, and then slung her bag off her shoulder, kneeling to rummage through its contents for anything that felt right for the old stories. Something to reflect the way people thought about the ancestors, and carried them in her heart. Something to use as a vessel to perhaps carry any interested ghosts with her.
Finally satisfied, she lay out a haphazard collection of berries -- Sitrus, Pecha, and a prized Lum -- alongside three Dusk Balls, a candle stub, a small and ancient bronze knife, and a bell, all on a carefully arranged extra scarf her mother had pressed on her. The bushes had been pulled away, with the assistance of her Pokemon on hand, uprooting where possible, so those plants that overshadowed the tiny shrine would not come back so easily.
To top it off, she pulled out a small pyramid of incense, and, striking a match, lit it. Bowing her head in silence for a moment, she cleared the thoughts from her mind, beyond a simple hope that, come what may, the ghosts here might find peace...or might opt to explore the world with her.
Finishing up, she promised to herself that she'd do a vigil tonight, and, if it seemed like any of the objects became Pokemon, she'd take them with her. It would be a fair thing to do.

Username: Rita Zyon Word Count: 110 The Offering: It was difficult to decide on what to offer the spirit. The spirit needed to be appeased, perhaps something that could be offered in a timely manner was more important than taking the time to search for the most perfect trinket? However, the spirit might not be appeased by something quickly found. What would the spirit prefer - something simple and quick or something carefully chosen? In her mind, simplicity would have to do in this situation. She left the Vulpix and ran off, quickly looking around her surroundings. She found a smooth, oval shaped stone and headed back to the shrine. "I present to you this light coloured, oval-shaped stone."

Username: ~Twilight...Angel~ Word Count: 149 The Offering: Twilight had never really been prepared for such things... It was a shame too. You just never knew when honoring the dead was going to come up!
Carefully she looked through the bag she carried with her, pulling out a few odds and ends before getting to the bottom. There she had found what she was looking for, a small piece of candle and a bottle of spring water. This water wasn't just any spring water though. It was said to have come from the Lake of Life that Suicune had purified. How she got her hands on such water, she would never tell.
Carefully she placed the candle on the alter, lighting it the best she could. Then gently she placed a small wooden bowl down, pouring the water into it before bowing before the alter.
Hopefully that would be enough to at least show that she cared.

"Well how much time do we have," she protested, dumping out the contents of her bag. The bag was poorly packed for the adventure she'd suddenly found herself on; it only contained some extra food, a change of clothes, and... What was this? The necklace was a simple thing, made of hemp and the carved bone of some unlucky animal, but it could work.
Carefully, she wiped down the shrine to get as much dirt off as she could, and laid the carved bone horse pendant at the base. Hopefully this could quell the spirits until she could find something more suitable on her return.

Username: Thalea Word Count: 128 The Offering: Filled with a purpose, she set off at a quick pace. What would the best offering be for a forgotten spirit? The idea instantly formed her mind; they would be the exact flowers she would love to be offered to her once she passes from this world. “Narcissus!”
The white flower represents rebirth and new beginnings, the perfect offering for the spirits long forgotten. She quickly ran home to her garden that was blooming with the white plant. Delicately she picked 12 of the loveliest Narcissus from the garden bed. “Perfect. Now to provide this offering to the spirits.” With a smile she set off to the forgotten shrine.
Everyone deserves to be remembered, even if one person holds them in their heart, no one will be forgotten.

Username: dawns_aura Word Count: ~ 200 The Offering:
With the many people flocking to the shrine, with offerings and gifts of all kinds, dawn was stymied. What should she bring to appease the spirit? Offerings of food and light seemed to be a common theme. To do something similar was out of the question. She wanted to do something to stand out. But there just wasn't enough time to come up with something unique and special enough. Something worthy. But perhaps, something small and simple would work.
Perhaps a prayer/wish in offering, a promise that she would fulfill at a more convenient time.
Taking a piece of paper she wrote her promise. Dear spirit. You may have been forgotten by time, but I will seek your name and your story. Once I find it, I will help you find peace. Folding it four times, she tied a simple ribbon around it and made her way to the shrine.
Reaching the altar of offerings, she bowed her head in respect to the spirit, lit a candle and held her wish over the flame. Sending the ash and her wish to the spirit. 'May you find peace one day.'
Bowing again, she left the shrine, pleased with her offering and already planning how to fulfill her promise.

His eyes glistened as he watched apparition appear. It was so beautiful and the words it said echoed in his mind. Offerings... Vulpix snapped him out of his thoughts and as soon as he came to his senses he scrambled of to find a suitable present. His borrow was not to far away and he had special item in mind that would serve perfectly as an offering. After all it was his prize possession. He grabbed the shiny rainbow colored stone he found and and few berries in front of his home entrance that he loved so much and hurried back to the shrine hoping he could see the apparition again and that it would be pleased with what he brought with him.
