Owen Hunt
"I'm told she is getting better." Owen didn't bring up the fight, Katrina didn't need to know that he and Andrea were not on the best of terms when he left. It was hard for Owen to get back into the team dynamic but the real difficulty came in working with people he saw as children. Andrea specifically. At least Sam was Richard's son. Sam had really seen what the Horsemen were like and Sam had done his own work before coming to join the team. Andrea had not. She had lived her life with her father who tried to teach her but never really prepared her for this world. Owen had watched her grown up and he didn't want to watch her die so he didn't want to treat her like a full member of the team. With Katrina there was a similar feeling yet altogether different. "So you can manipulate fabrics and you use that to heal, well some part of it? Tell me about your powers, tell me how you got your name?" More details to try and pull the puzzle together.

╔════════════╗ Katrina Knight ╚════════════╝Minerva✬The Doctor A sober Katrina might have noted the 'So I'm told' statement from Owen. Drugged out Katrina wasn't even totally sure what they were talking about. “Good, good.” She answered in a sort of vague way while taking far too much interest in her hands. She frowned slightly as flexed her fingers. “Cold...” She muttered softly under her breath, before looking up at Owen who asked her a bunch of questions. “So many questions.” Katrina said sleepily with a yawn. A sign that the drugs were starting to wear off and she was closing up on him, or just a general complaint that it was too difficult to keep track of in the haze? “I thought the name sounded neat.” If he thought there would be some clue to her past, or some epic tale of how she'd been given the name, or even if he thought the guys at the lab had given it to her, he was mistaken. “Before that they called me Project Alice or A-106. No idea what either stand for.” She shifted in the car seat, trying to get comfortable while apparently forgetting about his first question. ✬April 11 2012✬Not In Costume✬

Project Alice. That seemed to be enough to set Owen off. Not in a violent or rage filled way, but he became silent. He had gone looking for clues or a connection and now he found one. She was from a lab and they had called her Project Alice. The resemblance was not coincidence. But who had done this and how? Other things Owen would find out later. By the time Katrina's drugs began to wear off Owen would have arrived at the destination. A cemetery far outside of Chicago or any city really. The cemetery was in a grassy field in the middle of no where. The only road leading to it was the one Owen had taken and there were no parking spots, there was no lot at all. Owen had just pulled over off the road. This was where the Horsemen rested. All of the dead. It looked like an ordinary cemetery with roughly one hundred graves but the only graves with bodies beneath them were the ones for the Horsemen. It was a patch of land that Richard had left to Owen. Azrael was always the Horseman who owned the cemetery. "I need you to stay in the car alright?" He instructed softly as he opened his door. He waited for her to speak before acting because he wasn't sure how much the drugs had worn off.

╔════════════╗ Katrina Knight ╚════════════╝Minerva✬The Doctor With no more probing questions from Owen, Katrina quickly slipped into unconsciousness. A sharp pain in her side pulled her from that sleep. Confusion greeted her as she looked around to find herself inside a sleek black car, bumping along a gravel road. Her face throbbed where the speedster backhanded her and her abdomen ached where he had kneed it her, but it was her ribs that sent a sharp pain with every bump along the road. The boulder the Geo had thrown at her had some serious damage. Adrenaline and then the drugs had largely covered that up until now. Still she did her best to ignore the pain and cover up her injuries from the only other occupant in the car. Everything after the speedster was a drug induced haze. A series of events that she wasn't totally sure how much was real. It felt like a dream. Blissfully the car came to a stop, though as Katrina looked out the window, she had no idea where he had taken her. Rows of tombstones in a grassy field with no sign of any nearby civilization. He hadn't restrained or shoved her in the trunk of his car though. Green eyes studied him as she considered his request, but eventually she nodded. She needed a few minutes alone to sort out her thoughts, heal herself, make some clothing and it didn't seem like she was in any immediate danger at the moment. ✬April 11 2012✬Not In Costume✬

Owen Hunt
Once Katrina agreed Owen left the car and walked out into the cemetery. The gate slid open without him touching it and then slid shut behind him but Owen just continue to walk. Each step came with a new breath of purpose and faster than the last until he was almost jogging through the cemetery. Gravestones, statues, and the mausoleums with their many secrets. He moved past them all and his jog developed into a run. His run developed into a sprint as his heart beat aggressively in both hope and fear. He ran to the gravestone he had planted two years before and his mind began tearing away the grass on the surface. As was his power, the grass indeed tore away and then, then the dirt. Owen stood watching all the earth rip away and to the sides as the coffin slowly lifted from the ground. It hovered out of the grave and settled on the floor beside the hole Owen had dug with his powers. He reached quickly to open the coffin but stopped with his hands on it. Did he want to know? Owen wasn't sure this was an answer he wanted. If he opened it, he knew the truth one way or another. If not, he could pretend Katrina was Alice. He could pretend for years and eventually he might be able to fool himself into really believing she was Alice. But if he opened the coffin and the woman he loved was still inside he would be torn apart. He could not handle the truth about her being gone forever. Each day waking up without her by his side was agony. The wound reopened with eyes every morning. When she was alive he couldn't go three minutes without seeing her. Death had been cruel to the man who loved and lost. Of all the team, all the losses and all the misery, losing her had been what broke Owen. Losing her is why he turned to killing. Losing her and his daughter. Now he had the chance that at least one of them could be alive and he didn't want to take that away. He didn't want the truth. Owen pulled his hands back from the lid of the coffin and he shook his head slightly. He wouldn't look. No, he couldn't. He stood from the kneeling position he had taken to open the coffin and he began to back away from it. He could pretend, he wanted to pretend. He didn't want to see what was beyond the lid. He grimaced as the warring emotions tore at him and then he made his decision. He began backing away from the coffin, certain he would leave it shut, and it suddenly opened.

╔════════════╗ Katrina Knight ╚════════════╝Minerva✬The Doctor After Owen had left she had watched him walk away for a minute or so before getting to work. Tired of being nearly naked in the hospital like gown she 'borrowed' the black leather from the back seat of the car. Katrina doubted he'd be too impressed when he returned, but she could always fix it later when more clothing options were available. The end result was a little more Cat Woman than she would have liked, but it was a huge improvement on the escaped from the hospital look she had going a few minute prior. Then she dealt with her injuries, or tried too. She had just finished healing the fractured rib when suddenly her powers fizzled out as they were sometimes known to do. Just the cherry on top of the day she was having. Then Kat waited. And waited. And finally she got out of the car, feeling like something wasn't right. She'd been left alone too long. She didn't know what she expected, but nothing could have prepared her for finding her stalker/rescuer kneeling in front of a freshly dug up grave, only to get up and start backing away from the casket like he was afraid of it. “I'm guessing it's not supposed to be empty.” Katrina's voice came softly from behind Owen. Empty wasn't exactly the right word. Stones had been placed in the casket. Stones that if she were to guess, weighed approximately the same of whomsoever grave this was. “I didn't mean to intrude....you were gone for a while.” Though what exactly she had intruded upon she wasn't exactly sure. ✬April 11 2012✬Not In Costume✬

Owen Hunt
Owen stood petrified but wearing a smile on his face that he hadn't worn in a long time. He had found her. She was his Alice, the one he grew up with. The one he loved. He was blinded but he wasn't an idiot. He didn't anything to her about what he know believed to be true. To her she was still just Katrina and he was some client who had overstayed his welcome in the best way possible. But from his point of view she could be trusted. He wouldn't be showing her anything she hadn't already once seen and that meant she wouldn't tell anyone she hadn't told the first time. Again, love blinded this man to what the truth would be. "You changed your clothes?" He pointed out in a befuddled way before dismissing the thought with a wave of his hand. He needed to be more practical so he would try. There were still threats in the world, the gears never stopped turning, and he could not ignore dangers. "I don't expect you have anywhere you can go hide from those men at the lab," Owen said hopefully before walking over to the nearest mausoleum. "I can fix that." Owen walked to the door of the structure and pushed it open. Once he did, a set of stairs dropped. They were just metal and a little rustic but they got you to the main event if you went down them. Beneath each mausoleum a smaller headquarters was based. It has been created for a time when the Horsemen would need to hide a great many allies. A day that never came. But not it could be an even better hiding spot for them than anywhere else in the city. No doubt the men from the hospital would put the city under stiff watch. Yet this place couldn't be watched by anyone without Owen knowing. It was safe for them.

╔════════════╗ Katrina Knight ╚════════════╝Minerva✬The Doctor Katrina was a bit taken aback by the sudden smile. It seemed like an incredibly odd way to react to an empty casket. She gave him a quizzical look as he asked about her clothes only to quickly wave it off. He had asked about her Nemakinesis in the car. She was pretty sure she remembered that in the haze, along with a number of other things she shouldn't have told him. “I may have borrowed some materials from your car.” Kat warned him, when he brought up having a place to hide. She expected they were heading back to his vehicle. Likely he wanted to bring her back to the house she had fixed the girl at. She was about to tell him she appreciated his offer, but decline it anyway. True, she had no where to go and she was tired and injured, but the same was true when she originally escaped from the lab and she had managed to work things out. In the world she lived in nothing came for free, and she already owed this man far too much. But then he pushed open the door to one of the mausoleums instead, stairs descending into darkness. “You want me to go down into a crypt with you?” She asked instead of what she was originally going to say. “A little 'Cask of Amontillado' don't you think?” Though if he wanted to harm her, he already had plenty of opportunities to do so. Curiosity getting the better of her, Kat headed for the stairs after her initial hesitation. ✬April 11 2012✬Not In Costume✬

"A member of the old team said the exact same thing when my mentor suggested we build a secondary base in a graveyard." Surprisingly it had been Mathis, not Alice who said that. Owen lead Katrina down the steps and once they reached the bottom the motion sensors triggered and all the lights turned on. Underneath this mausoleum was a room with one wall dedicated to various weapons. There were guns, knives, grenades of all sorts. On the wall parallel to it were four mannequins without anything on them. They were stands for the teams suits. Each mannequin stood on a drawer and in the drawer the team generally would store personal items or medical equipment that they wanted to take with them. Owen generally stored his extendable sword in the drawer because it was of his own unique design. One the far wall there was a computer setup with a bunch of monitors that took up the majority of the space. A very similar setup to the Stable. On the walls to the left and the right there were doors that lead out into the tunnel system that connected the secret rooms under the mausoleums. Other rooms were things such as a kitchen, bathrooms, training rooms, bedrooms, recreational rooms, and other minor distractions. "This place was built as a sort of doomsday hideout. If the Stable, the house you were brought to, was ever attacked the team was to break apart and regroup here in the last place anyone would look for us. We only have a few other bases around the world outside of this one and I am the only person who knows where they are." Owen was trying to make her feel more secure and after the tour it would probably feel more comfortable.

╔════════════╗ Katrina Knight ╚════════════╝Minerva✬The Doctor Katrina didn’t say anything as she descended the stairs. Everything that had happened since meeting this man was so far out of the norm, she wasn’t quite sure how to respond. Was she being naive and foolish for coming down here? If it was all some plot to steal her from the other lab for his own experiments, or maybe some criminal organization that wanted her for their personal healer, it was so convoluted as to make no sense. Yet, in all of her two years that she could remember no one had simply been nice to her. They all wanted something in return. She blinked as the lights turned on, illuminating a room that looked like it belonged in a comic book. Naturally, her eyes were drawn to the wall covered in weapons first, but soon moved over to the monitors in the back of the room. She let his statement about the bases hang in the air for a minute as she took it all in. It seemed confusing him with Batman earlier had been a lot more on the nose than she had thought. God, but she hoped he hadn’t of caught that. Then finally Kat turned around to face Owen, and broke one of the very few rules she had about dealing with clients. “Who are you?”✬April 11 2012✬Not In Costume✬

Owen Hunt
It was at that question that Owen realized she had no memory of any of the things he spoke about. It saddened him but it was ultimately fine because he believed she was Alice. He could teach her everything she didn't remember. They could have their old lives back. They could maybe even get out of being vigilantes. Owen knew that above all if he had to choose between having Alice or being Azrael he would burn the Stable to the ground. So he answered kindly. "I am Owen Hunt and I have spent the majority of my life as the vigilante Azrael. My team was known as The Four Horsemen. They were murdered and for two years I believed that I would never fight on a team again. The girl you healed and the boy showed me that I might."

╔════════════╗ Katrina Knight ╚════════════╝Minerva✬The Doctor “Why are you telling me this?” Katrina asked, her tone somewhere in between caution and confusion. “I appreciate the rescue, but I don’t think vigilantes make a habit of sharing their identities and secret bases with the people they save.” Not to mention him showing up at the lab a few days after meeting him for the first time. Things weren’t adding up. She didn’t want to seem ungrateful, nor calluses to the fact that his former team had been murdered, but with the majority of her life a blackhole and the couple years she could remember spent on the run trust was hard to come by. Katrina didn’t know what it was like to have a team, nor to lose them. There had to be someone out there who knew who she was and cared for her, she hoped there was, but like everything else, she simply couldn’t remember. ✬April 11 2012✬Not In Costume✬

"I think it is better that I show you." Owen responded before walking to one of the doors. He gestured for her to follow him and then lead her through the tunnel system into what seemed to be a lounge area. On the walls she would find the answer to the question she had asked because Owen had not taken down the pictures of his team here. He had not taken down the pictures of Alice. He said nothing but left Katrina to explore the room and find out for herself.

╔════════════╗ Katrina Knight ╚════════════╝Minerva✬The Doctor Curious as to what Owen could show her that could possibly answer her questions, Katrina followed him through the tunnels. It was hard to say what exactly was going through her mind when her eyes first fell on the photos. She slowly walked towards one of the photos hanging on the wall. Herself, Owen, two people she didn’t recognize. She touched the photo as if to check it was really there, before moving onto the next and the next one after that. As she slowly made her way around the room, stopping to examine each photo she came across, even the ones she wasn’t it, it became apparent that her and Owen had been a lot more than team mates. It all felt so surreal, seeing herself in so many photos with people and places she had no memory of. Then finally after several minutes of silence she turned towards Owen. “You know who I am.”✬April 11 2012✬Not In Costume✬

Owen wanted to smile and to tell her that he did know. He wanted to tell her she was Alice and that he had thought she was dead and to tell her the whole life story but he did not do it. It would only overwhelm and possibly terrify the girl so he did not let what he felt was true guide the conversation. "I know who she is," Owen pointed at Alice in one of the photos. "And I know that two years ago I thought she had been murdered. And I now know that the grave she was supposed to be in is empty. So, I think that I know who you are."
