( LOCATION ) xA cafe in D.C. tab ( FEELS ) x Terrified. tab ( WEARING ) xOver-sized hoodie and sweatpants. A backpack with her costume and gear in it. Lots of bugsMost of the bugs that she had on the two had been utterly decimated, and her picture of where the two were went fuzzy for a moment. A few more bugs rushed in only to get caught by the wave. The freezing wave shot out by Alvin's cane killed most of the bugs within 4-5 feet of the pair. She was blind in that area, completely clueless as to what was happening. For now she had to stall, find a weakness and exploit it. One of the figures, not the one she was in, stepped forward. "If I wanted to hurt you, I'd have flayed you alive before you could realize what was happening. I would've had them crawl in your ears, your eyes, your nose, your throat. A cockroach in your lungs can really f*ck somebody up. At least, that's what they've told me." When she spoke, all the bugs in the room chirped and buzzed, amplifying the cadence with which she spoke. "Neither of you have been hurt, and honestly I'd like to keep it that way."Laura had a black widow, carried in by larger flyers, crawl up the back of Alvin's pants, careful not to it give itself away. In the craziness, she doubted he'd feel anything at all.

"Nothing is True and Everything is Permitted" ➵Lucy Xiao Long➵ Lynx “I have a feeling elections will be on hold until the war is over.” Lucy pointed out while not answering Jayson’s main point. Honestly she had never had a client ask her what she wanted before and it caught her off guard. Wasn’t it fairly obvious she was in it for the money? “I’m not suicidal and shooting up the Providence Headquarters unprovoked is a good way to end up dead quick. Not even the Dominion dare attack it. What good is money if I am not around to enjoy it? I believe you had a similar theory about attacking Shockwave when you had the chance.” Just because she hadn’t said much, didn’t mean she hadn’t been listening to all that had been said to store away for later. “What exactly are your politics?” It seemed like as good place as any to start if he was going to ask her such a deep question. JAYSON WRIGHT "Really? Why do you think that? They held them during the world wars? I could understand if this was a civil war but they went and made Nova then declared independence. It doesn't really matter, you'd have to be mental to want to be president at a time like this." He grinned at her, a soft deadline like election season just gave him a reason to get up in the morning there wasn't much of a meaning behind it. He considered what she said for a moment and then shook his head, "It's alright to admit that you couldn't have dealt with the entire room before Mathis showed." He paused before responding to her second point, he could see what she was saying and in a way it made sense but ultimately their was a clear difference between now and then. "I doubt they would have killed you, Luce, not after I told them how good you were and offered to serve your time as long as you could work for Providence to help pay off the debt. I mean it was fairly obvious I was ordering you about, and I ain't the type to shy away from responsibility. Shockwave was different, if he died then Tank would have rampaged until we were all red smears on the heel of his boot." His tone shifted as he began to talk about New York, clearly he hadn't quite gotten over the event even if he claimed otherwise. He stopped at a light and something caught his eye, a cafe that seemed to be bellowing black smoke out of it at an alarming rate. Except when he looked closer it wasn't smoke, but a colossal cloud of bugs. As soon as it turned to green he sped across the street and parked up outside, how could he just drive past something like this without at least going inside to see what was happening. "My politics?" He looked back at Lucy as he stepped out of the car, caught off by her question, not even as he had run for mayor had anyone ever asked him that. "I'd like deviant's to not be shunned and less guns for the public." He shrugged, if anything he was a living embodiment of how easy it was to get a firearm. "And more guns for me!" He added the last part as he couldn't bring himself to relinquish his impressive hoard. "Here." He passed her a pair of industrial goggles to stop the bugs going in her eyes before stepping closer to the building. As he opened the door, he heard the bugs speak in a chorus and immediately knew he was about to step into the sort of situation that most probably only saw in their nightmares. Regardless of the voices threats, he wasn't bothered by bugs and was more interested in the person controlling them. Despite his curiosity he was happy to sit on the sidelines and watch the events play out, content to not involve himself in Providence business, maybe eat a salt shaker or two. But after what seemed like a long time, the man, whose name he didn't know, whom had made his way across the room to the soda machine spoke and Jayson audibly groaned, revealing his presence to anyone who hadn't noticed him already. "The voice gave you an out, a way for you to save face without destroying any more property and you choose to threaten it. Way to be the bigger man. What's your plan, burn down the building and let Providence pay for the clean up?" He watched the man with a grin plastered all over his face, clearly mocking him. "I wonder what Dr A would say if she knew you had burned a deviant alive who had shown you mercy? Things might have changed since my time but I doubt she would be impressed." He shrugged and kept a steady gaze on Alvin, ready to shoot him if he wanted to continue with his present course of action.

"As a girl I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books.Someone who fought for what was right and protect people who couldn't protect themselves." Lexi Darksilver Halo “I could attempt to answer those questions for you Mathis, but would it really change anything? If you believed me, those memories are still gone and you’ll never be as you once were. Those things will never be real to you. You would still be here, plotting Snow’s death and I doubt the deaths would come any less easy to you. If you no longer doubted that you were a spy, you’ve already decided the Dominion is wrong in their mission, and you would still be here, plotting Snow’s death. I…can’t imagine what it would be like to not know your own past, but would knowing change who you are today?” It hurt her more than a little to say those words out loud. She wanted desperately for him to believe her. She wanted desperately to have back the man she once loved. That he thought of their previously relationship as nothing more than a job….But she had to shove those thoughts back to where she had put them when she had decided to kill Mathis in the first place and remind herself that that man was gone. It was nothing but a child’s fantasy to get back what she once lost. Both her and Mathis had changed a lot since that time. She sighed slightly, and sadly, as Mathis asked what the Dominion had done that was so horrible. The use of brainwashing perhaps? Taking away who a person was? “Los Angeles, Sacramento. Cities full of innocent people. Millions who had nothing to do with the poor treatment of Deviants. Many, like the humans working at both facilities who supported and protected our kind. Providence may have failed in its duty to protect some of us, but the Dominion sought out to actively harm innocent people. A select few were cruel to them, not the whole of humanity, just as only some of them are truly monsters.” Still she could never hate the Dominion. She disagreed with them, but she understood why they did what they did. She had much more experience than most with monsters. “How do you plan on going after the founders? They are just as protected as she. Clarity even more so.”

Mathis Mathews
"Knowing would make all the difference. But they are not questions you can answer. No one can. Not in a world where the people who know the truth are dead or liars." Snow, Clarity, any of the founders. They would know, but their word could not be called the truth. The two people who he could have gone to, his parents, died while he was in Isolation. Well his mother died a long time before. His father died while he was in Isolation. It was possible that things like the lack of a loving family contributed to why Mathis was the way he was. He grew up in a cold sterile environment and it had made a cold sterile man. But he didn't know any other way. Lexi had shown him one, and then the Dominion took it away from him. Now he found himself even worse off than when he had started. The sad truth of it all was that if he and Lexi hadn't gone to New York to fight, if they had just left, they would be happy. He would still be her Mathis and maybe they would still fight the Dominion but they would be themselves. Not the cruel and warped people that circumstance had made them. Knowing wouldn't change anything, but if they had chose not to fight so early on, everything would have been different. Now the world knew a Mathis who said things like the things he said in response to Lexi's statements about the Dominion. "You say that like you didn't live under a government that would have done the same if the situation was reversed. I can't defend the Dominion for everything. I know what they did because I did it. But just as there were innocent people where they attacked, there are innocent people living in the Dominion territory. We can't hurt the Dominion without hurting them. As for attacking the founders, it will be easier than you think. They don't all live in towers. Some like to be seen. Makes them vulnerable. I'll need more information but I'll strike the public ones first." Mathis hated to admit one fact to himself. Given the chance, he would actually let Clarity live. She had been kind to him during his time in the Dominion and even if she had done the things Lexi said to him, she was kind. Then again he didn't know what he would do it forced with the choice between hurting Snow's friends and hurting his own.

『 Ȼɑɼɱεɳ Ϣɼɩʈε 』 In another situation Carmen might have been willing to put herself at risk to stop Alvin’s warpath, however there was no way she was going to turn her back towards the hordes of insects in the room. In another situation she might have tried to calm Alvin down enough to hear out the entity that claimed it didn’t want to hurt them. She might have been inclined to agree with Jayson, though using much less rude words. The truth was Carmen wasn’t listening to any of the conversation that was happening in the room. The freaky inhuman voice coming the insects buzzing to form a voice and the cloud of insects that seemed to be from some horror movie was too much for her still fragile mind. While she had come a long way since her rescue, there was a reason Providence hadn’t put her back into action yet. “No, get them off!” Carmen would cry out, trying desperately to brush off the bugs crawling on her that weren’t really there and in her panic, as she lost control of her powers everyone in the room would see it, the image projected in to their minds. These bugs were much more monstrous and nightmarish than the real deal, creatures summoned from the dark recesses of Carmen’s mind that appeared to be attacking anyone who was affected by her illusions, not just Carmen herself. ✨ What if a dream was reality and reality was a dream? ( LOCATION ) xA cafe in D.C. tab ( FEELS ) x Annoyed with the Brit. tab ( WEARING ) xOver-sized hoodie and sweatpants. A backpack with her costume and gear in it. Lots of bugsLosing bugs like this was... Annoying. Laura took a quick count as Alvin let out another blast, she still had 12,589 in the cafe, another 300,000 outside of it. He was trying to clear out the room, but for every bug he killed, two more took it's place. It was a losing battle, and it was going to be over when she decided to pull the trigger. She opened her mouth to speak, but then he moved toward the soda machine, his intention was clear. With the damage he'd done with the coffee, he could devastate this cafe, bring it to the ground, and now Laura had to stop him. She hadn't hurt a single person in this cafe yet, and he wasn't going to either. She now had 15,000 in the cafe, and these were the aggressive ones. The ones that could really hurt someone if she wasn't careful. Laura directed bugs to land on Alvin's face, his hands, any exposed skin. She aligned the bugs so a humanoid figure would come out of nowhere in front of Alvin, it stood just as tall as he was, just a little bit broader. "You f*ck with me? You take one more step? You threaten me one more time, and you'll die wishing you had the breath to do so screaming." The swarm chirped. This was his last warning, if he so much as took another step, she'd swarm him. "Think carefully about what you wanna do next. Can you let out another blast before the spiders, the wasps, the ants, and every other creepy crawly here lodge themselves in all your squishy bits?"This was all of course said just in time for Jayson Write to hear as he walked into the cafe. She'd been aware of him since he'd pulled into the parking lot. He and his sidekick had been thoroughly bugged as soon as they left the car. As he stepped in and let out his spiel, the redhead seemed to panic. She screamed and Laura felt the number of bugs in the room increase. She could feel them, she could see them, she could feel them with her power, but she couldn't control them. They were monstrous, mutated, and attacking everyone in the cafe. When they attacked, the damage pain felt real, but wasn't. She'd lost control of the situation, and now had to take it back. Every bug in the cafe that Laura could control was given the order. Disable as every bug in the room ceased to be a benevolent cloud of information, and more a malicious swarm of pain. The figure in front of Alvin drove itself into him, the bugs driving themselves into his nose, his ears, his mouth, and down his throat. Hundreds of bugs coated his arms, legs, and face. They stung, they bit, they tore, and they were brutal. The bugs that were crawling into his ears and nose set themselves up to close up the pathways, the ones that made it into his throat angled to block his airways for the time being. This all happened in what seemed like a moment, leaving very little time to react. The redhead wasn't being attacked like Alvin was, bugs more or less just piled onto her. She didn't seem like someone to worry about. Jayson and the woman still outside was left unharmed by the bugs she could control. Laura wasn't kidding when she threatened Alvin. Everyone underestimated her power. After all, what could a few bugs do?

Neither he nor this insect wrangler were backing down, and that was fine by him. Words that were spoken seemed to fade out as his mind toiled over the next possible course of action. Though he'd be interrupted as a familiar voice chirped in the background. It was the man from the meeting, the one that disturbed the meeting for Mathis. With an irritated scowl he tapped his cane on the ground, causing a wall of the marble cafe floor to rise in front of the man that seemed to give his opinion, as unwarranted as it was. On top of that he now had a figure made of bugs towering over him. Was this suppose to intimidate him? Alvin has seen far worse and a few bugs were the least of his worries, or at least he thought. The figured lunged into him, bugs of various breeds suffocating him, relentlessly stinging, biting him. As hard as he tried, his focus was broken, the pillar of liquid dissipating along with the pulses. After awhile he stopped struggling and fought for the lasts breath he could, but to no avail. Lexi Darksilver Halo “What would it change?” Lexi asked simply and calmly because in the end it didn't really matter what she thought, but what Mathis thought. It was his memories and his past, but if she was going to provide him with any kind of support on the topic of his past she needed to know his thought process. While the implication that he didn't believe she knew the truth about his past bothered her, she knew there was no point in bring it up. He needed to decide on his own terms if her version of events were true or not. Then again, he had already caught her once omitting something that was on her mind. “Providence seeks to minimize civilian casualties while the Dominion tries to maximize them.” She pointed out, though she certainly couldn't deny that innocent people had been killed by Providence. It was war. People died. “Even the ones that like to be seen travel with a small army of protectors.”

"Motivation. And motivation is the key to everything." That was what the answers would change. Why he did everything. Still it was of little consequence so he moved quickly onto the topic of Providence and the Dominion. "Tries is the wrong word. We were never afraid to hurt more people but we didn't wake up in the morning glorifying the body count we would have to create during the day. It was always about sending the strongest message. Death was just the most effective way." Then the last thing she said came into his mind. They traveled with a small army of protectors. A fact he knew very well. He had been in that small army several times. He knew when the army was around and when it was not. He knew the holes in the army's armor. "Travel with, yes, but they do take breaks away. "

"As a girl I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books.Someone who fought for what was right and protect people who couldn't protect themselves." Lexi Darksilver Halo “What is your current motivation for wanting to kill Snow?” Honestly, Lexi was a little unsure on this point. Mathis seemed singularly focused and determined to bring the Ice Queen down, and yet claimed he doubted her about the memory tampering. If he’d been a simple spy, then he had no reason to despise Snow so much. Perhaps he believed Lexi more than he stated, but the doubts and indecision were real. She could see it in his aura. Something wasn’t quiet adding up. “I’ve met more than my fair share who more than enjoyed racking up the body count. Wendigo comes to mind, as does Rip Van Winkle. ” There were others she had met as well. Met and aided in the capture of. Depending on how much attention Mathis had given Lexi during his time on the other side, he may or may not have noticed that she had yet to take a life. At least directly. “So where do we start?” She was sorta dubious on how the two of them were going to get close to a founder without a small army to back them, but after everything she was going to let him go by himself.

"Private." Mathis responded when Lexi asked what his current motivation for wanting to kill Snow was. Aside from the larger aspects, the fact that killing her would solve a lot, he blamed her for who he was today. In either version of his past, Snow was the key in the great change for him. Snow was who made him what he was and that was not a good thing. Not to him. "If you judge a group by the problem members in it, you may as well hate the world. Hate the problem members. Wendigo, Rip. Kill them. Cut out the problem." Mathis spoke calmly. It was hard to see things from his side. A side that believed it had served both loyally. "For now, we do what Providence asks. When I have something I need your help with, I'll tell you."

She just had an approachable personality. The girl finally agreed, flipping a bit of hair out of her face and answering awkwardly about her living situation. Ainsley looked over at her suddenly. "A hotel??" She exclaimed, though it wasn't really a horrified sound so much as an excited one. "If that's the case, you should come over for dinner! Hotel food is a little... Eh... Y'know?" "As a girl I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books.Someone who fought for what was right and protect people who couldn't protect themselves." Lexi Darksilver Halo That single word hurt a lot more than it had any right to. Logically she knew she could no longer expect him to answer whatever she asked. Still it had caught her off guard. She supposed given everything they had been through she still expected openness from him despite Snow’s tampering. Still she would respect his wishes and moved onto the next topic of their conversation without addressing his motivation for killing Snow. “You don’t trust me or you don’t think I know the truth?” She asked instead, circling back to his statement about why she couldn’t help him with his memory problem. Some might argue both amounted to the same thing, but the distinction was important to her. “You of anyone should know I do not hate the member of the Dominion. However the leadership do promote a certain culture of violence and death. You only need to look at yourself to know the truth of that in either version of your history.” The problem wasn’t Rip or Wendigo. It was the founders and other high ranking members of the Dominion that sanctioned such action. “You are a resourceful man Mathis Mathews. I doubt there are many things you need my help with.” Lexi pointed out, while standing from the seat she had taken earlier. "I want you to include me in taking the Founders down, regardless of if you need my help or not." It seemed their conversation for the evening was almost over. Part of her was glad. Talking to this Mathis was painful and stressful. Part of her didn’t want to leave.
